This is so discouraging to see all these bad reviews.. i was honestly was excited but to read all this stuff made me turn my head. if management really cared and took pride in what they "stand for" there wouldn't be so many people complaining about broken elevators, broken garage gate, stolen bikes, random drunks in hallways, dirty hallways, rude management, BAD SMELLS, infested apartments, old appliances, and long awaiting fixes. it's disappointing. and i hope that a new management whose capable of caring for its residents fixes it. because this is trash.

2 years ago I considered moving here but it had horrible reviews related to being dangerous, poor maintenance and bad management. I decided I would hold off till the “new management” had some time to turn the place around Two years later and it’s still having all the same issues. It’s been plenty of time, there should be no reason you should consider this as a potential home. There is a long, long history of issues not being resolved that continues today.

My daughter moved in last weekend. She was so excited to be down town with a lot of younger people enjoying the fun of downtown St.Pete. She is so much closer to her new job. Planned her move for months. Downsized so she was free of so many material items, lowered her rent from Bradenton costs so she could save and travel. She was so excited. Now she is crying every day and so angry. She and friends painted her new place with bright colors and within the first night everything went down hill.
Freight elevator not working when movers brought her stuff, lights in several of the garage floors all OUT pitch black and dangerous. 9 out of 12 washers broken when she went to use them, elevators and hall smell like urine and besides the urine smells her hallway smells like smoke (some tenant is obviously breaking the no smoking rule) and the WORST the bugs started appearing. She had addressed previous reviews about bugs and maintenance issues with management several times before signing her leased. WAS ASSURED this was new management in the last year and they had taken care of all pevious issues and the bugs. WRONG it is Roach infested.
She has been in a week has gotten little sleep killing roaches all night even started saving them as she killa them fir proof. She has sprayed and BOMBED her place but so bad that didn't work. She can't eat there constantly having to clean surfaces really gross and unsanitary. Their pest guy only comes one day a week and still has not been there. Appears health department and possibly 10 on your side needs to be the next call. Management obviously has a lot of problems and gives false claims to prospective clients as to their maintenance, pesticide and building up keep record.
I am sure there are people who can live with these inconveniences and infestation but not everyone. When you are promised a nice clean, bug free, safe, and working amenities as part of your lease that is what you should have.
They are definitely in breach of their lease agreement and after talking with several residents, things and the bugs are like this all the time. This is a 15 story building and often we were told NORMAL is only one of all the elevators working. REALLY???
So if you don't like roaches and a poorly managed place I suggest you find somewhere else to live!!!

My boyfriend and I lived here last year for about five months and it was ok. The first weekend we moved in, there was an incident with a young man who apparently had a gun inside the building trying to find someone. He was apprehended and the cops came, but that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The management was rude whenever we would come down and ask questions about anything (specifically the black woman). The only helpful person there was the janitor. The automatic doors don't always work, one of them is always broken or being fixed. Same thing with the parking garage. A lot of days they would just leave it open because it was broken. Free parking for non residents, right? Another thing about the garage that was frustrating is that they use it for parking for the games, as well, so a lot of those times we were out of parking spaces (which we paid extra for!). The restaurant downstairs was trash and they NEVER deliver, which they advertised to us that they did. People left trash EVERYWHERE and the smelled terrible. We were so happy when he was transferred for work and had to move because it meant we got to finally leave that mess. So we've moved twice since then, and a month or two ago my boyfriend received an email stating that this company is sending him to collections for something that he doesn't even know what it is! We've tried emailing and calling and getting in contact with these people. The first time he tried calling someone answered and told him that he needed to call back and leave a message for the new manager, which he did and we still have not gotten a call back. We've tried calling and emailing numerous times with no answer. This morning he checks his email and it says the charge has gone to collections now. I would never recommend these apartments to anyone. There are plenty of houses and duplexes for rent in this area that would be a lot more acceptable than this place.
If anyone from the company wants to right this wrong, get in contact with me asap.

Seriously, don't move here. They don't fix anything, it smells bad and there are roaches. To the person from Urban Style Flats who has the audacity to reply to this and say something along the lines of "We're sorry you feel that way," fix my leaking windows. It's been two months since I first asked you to.

Don't move in here unless it's temporary or you have no other choice financially. My girlfriend and I moved in in December, and I am already inquiring about breaking the lease. The main entrances act as hang out spots for what appear to be mostly drunks or worse, sketchy people walking around and inside the building, CONSTANT parking garage door failures, ENDLESS maintenance, wifi outages, BUGS, etc. they will show you a gorgeous model home, one with new appliances, hard wood floors, wonderful view and set up, only to give you an apartment you never get to see until you get the key, one that has concrete floors, out dated appliances, half the outlets and light bulbs don't work, disgusting sinks and toilets that barely flush. At night, all you hear is people screaming at each other out your window. The laundry room that accepts cards has been out of order for almost 2 weeks, so now you have to buy their laundry cards to do your laundry. This place is making a killing off false advertising and next-to-good location. I don't recommend this place to anybody and I will most definitely not be renewing my lease this coming December. I just want my security deposit back and to never step foot in here again.

I lived in an apartment here for a year. This was a terrible choice.

The elevators broke down constantly. Expect to get plenty of exercise taking the stairs if you don't want to wait 5+ minutes to reach your floor. And when you take the stairs, for at least 5 floors they will be littered with, what I assume is, pet urine and feces. Walk through the hallways and you will smell a tasteful medley of cigarette smoke, garbage juice, and disinfectant spray attempting to mask the assumed pet odors. Random non residents would walk the halls checking for open apartments. Your apartment door has only a janky handle lock and no deadbolt to secure it. I left my place, always wondering if my place would be broken into.

Each apartment comes standard with your own live in pets: roaches and water bugs from your hallway trash chute. The quarterly pest control service attempts to remedy this, poorly. The washer and drying machines down stairs were disgusting and the main payment system constantly broke down leaving you stranded with a load of laundry in a washer waiting to be dried.

The Exterior also has bright blue lights that shine straight through the window shades of your tiny apartment. The blue lights do a terrific job of disrupting your sleep schedule. The walls are decently sound proof. The only noises I heard coming from the walls was the bass from my neighbors sound system and a dog that loves to yip for hours on end. The rooms are stagnant and receive poor airflow from a single loud wall AC unit. I lived in the antiquated Andros dorms at USF Tampa and they were nicer than this, and cost less too. The dodgy property managers failed to give me my security deposit back after asking for it repeatedly. Management is dodgy and never answered or returned my calls on the matter. Even though I returned my unit in the same condition I received it. These people are Slum Lords at best.

The only positive about this place is the location. 275 is half a block away. Being this close to central, downtown, and Tropicana Field is nice. Downtown is a 20 min walk away, central a 5 min. If you own a car I would highly recommend paying for the overpriced parking garage as finding parking on the street, especially for Rays games at the Tropicana, is a huge hassle. Traffic will congest the area around this time and add 5-10 min to your commute home.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Search for a duplex or above garage unit instead, you'll be happy you did.

Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. I've lived here for 3 months now and for the price, location, and security, this place is awesome. Maintenance requests get handled right away and the staff is super friendly.

So, before moving to Florida, I saw ads for Urban Style Flats -- but after reading the awful reviews, I decided I wouldn't even bother looking. A year later, my boyfriend moved into one of their studios on the 7th floor. I told him he was crazy.

But, I soon discovered they weren't bad -- and a few months later, I actually moved in with him. They're certainly not luxury apartments, but they're a great price for downtown living. And they're certainly not the hellhole some of the other reviewers have made them out to be.

    Pros:
+ Pretty thick walls; I generally didn't hear much from inside the apartment
+ Huge windows and views that make the apartment seem much bigger
+ GREAT location; you can walk everywhere!
+ Studios have a good layout; not sure about the other options
+ Pool, volleyball court, small gym, bar/restaurant, laundry, and ping-pong tables on the property

    Cons:
+ Some small cockroaches, but I think this is almost everywhere in Florida
+ The parking garage is far away
+ The elevators are often broken
+ The hallways aren't cleaned very often, and sometimes smell
+ Their free wifi sucks, so plan on getting your own
+ The apartments could use a paint job
+ It took us a while (2+ months) to get our security deposit back

In my mind, the cons aren't that big of a deal. The apartments aren't perfect, but what do you expect for $800/month? If you're on a budget and want to live downtown, I think you should at least give Urban Style Flats a look.

Honestly, I wish I hadn't let the one-star reviews scare me away; I probably would've lived here since the beginning (and saved a lot of money!).

DO NOT move in to Urban Style Flats. My husband and I just toured that place this weekend. We were there for half an hour and we were completely horrified at the state of the building. Multiple instances of pet waste in the hallways, soaking the carpet. The building smells horribly like mold when you're not smelling feces. The walls are super thin and I could hear every conversation when we walked down the hallway.

We asked a current resident what he thought of the place, and he told us that people smoke dope in the hallways, which might not be a big deal for you, but it is for us.

The model unit we were shown was dirty and sticky, and the toilet had overflowed, leaving a half inch of water pooled on the floor. The leasing consultant didn't seem to think this was a problem, though, and told us to imagine the apartment without the pooled sewage water.

I don't have any suggestions in that price range, just please, please think about somewhere else. That building looks how morbid depression feels.
