Uprising is a bakery with hands down the best sweet and savory muffins you'll ever taste. We offer our services mainly through catering, but we also ship! Uprising offers a wide variety of specialty in-house scratch baked gourmet Muffins, brewed coffee and tea, fresh fruit medleys, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfait bars and more.
Our mission is to improve the day of everyone we serve by regularly exceeding expectations and raising the bar by delivering unparalleled customer service.
Uprising offers an unrivaled variety of muffin flavors featuring locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Each flavor consists of ten fresh ingredients or less, no artificial flavors, food coloring or unpronounceable preservatives. So if you're looking for a more satisfying, irresistible and unapologetically delicious breakfast, you've found it!
While muffins are the star of the show, no star can shine without a great co-star. The Robin to Uprising Muffins Batman (muffins)is great coffee. We offer high quality fresh brewed coffee using locally roasted top quality Arabica coffee beans. With beans being roasted to order, you will taste the fresh difference local makes.
With over 45 muffin flavors to choose from on a rotating and seasonal basis, there is a lot for you to explore. What muffin are you? Lemon Poppy Seed? Blueberry Streusel? Double Chocolate Chip? I must say, it’s wild to have a place that regularly produces lines to the door and provides a product that people rave about. Now we’re closing and frankly, it’s mind blowing. Many factors played into this eventual closing, and thanks to those factors I’ve learned so many valuable lessons in the last 4 1/2 years that will benefit me and anyone I can help in the future. If you or anyone you know is considering retail food, reach out to me and I would be happy to help. We were very successful here and I’m proud of our accomplishments. I’m so full of gratitude for this opportunity and for all the people that created those lines to the door in support of us over the years.

If you haven’t heard, Uprising is closing up our Shaw shop tomorrow so we can focus on our catering operations. The outpouring of support from our loyal and loving customers has been amazing and we all appreciate it so much. Keep it coming! 🤗
So many wonderful people have worked for Uprising over the years, but Kwanza aka @gypsyeyes9 has a special place in my heart. On April 5, 2014 Kwanza was hired as an experienced barista and since, Kwanza has been an integral part of the team and has helped shape and mold the culture of Uprising. Over four years ago she helped me move the furniture in, and tomorrow she will help me move it out. I am forever grateful for Kwanza and the many other wonderful people who I’ve been so blessed with over the years, I sincerely thank you all.
This isn’t a goodbye, I’ve got more to say! But i do want to encourage you to swing by tomorrow and say hello. It’s our last day at 1817 7th Street NW, and we’re going to miss starting our day with you!

Dear Uprising Supporters,
So many friends, so many fans, so much love… Where do I begin?? Well, I’ll begin with gratitude. Thank you. Thank you for helping me realize my dream and turning my vision into a reality. Thank you for continually supporting Uprising so that we could create and maintain jobs for the many wonderful, dedicated teammates that worked so hard to serve you every day. This isn’t easy but I’ve made the difficult decision that July 27th will be our last day and then Uprising will be closing our retail operation in Shaw.
The good news? We’ll still be standing! We’re going to focus on our growing catering operations from a commercial kitchen… for now. Not only that, but we’ve begun working on a wholesale program so you’ll be able to find our muffins around town soon. Many requests for wholesale have come over the years so this is long overdue and I’m pumped for it! Also, the doors are NOT closed on retail operations and I’ll soon be receptive to new storefront opportunities.
It’s truly been an honor and a pleasure getting to know you and from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful for you.
