Excruciating pain . Torture experience. Had teeth extracted months ago. Today woke up in the worst pain of my life. It looks like a bone fragment poking through the gum and the gum is infected. I regret going there. When he extracted the teeth it took him 20 minutes on one tooth. Did not give enough Novocain. I cried. The remaining teeth he extracted hurt also. Nobody should be in this kind of pain. I was better off with my teeth. I wish the student that extracted my teeth had this pain.

Do NOT go to University of Michigan dental school for ANYTHING!! I cannot stress this enough. I am in the process of getting a bridge that was done incorrectly by a dental student, causing me excrutiating pain. The temporary bridge fell out after one day. They put the temporary back in only to have it causing me such pain, I could not eat or sleep. I called on a Monday morning and they said I would have to wait for my scheduled visit on Friday. It was 4 of the worst, painful days of my life. When I arrived on Friday, the bridge had to be redone by a "real" dentist. I have already had 21 hours in the chair (7 visits)and at least 6 more to go. As a cash patient, it did not save me any money whatsoever!!

If you want to be here for 3 hours for one cavity this is the place to go. After you get seen by the student they have to hunt down a real doctor and then they look at you. It takes forever to get anything done and they hurt you. These are students not real dentist that are doing the work! I will never return, this goes to the pediatric department too. They strap your kids down and traumatize the kids cause they HURT! Then after wana offer laughing gas like they didnt just poke around while my kid was screaming
    Dumb.

I called 3 different dentists in my area with no sucess when U Of M Dental College was sugested to me. The lady who answered my phone call was absolutely wonderful. Very kind and professional. When I go there, again, the staff was wonderful and check in was a snap. The dental students and instructors are very personable and put you at ease right away. I recommend U OF M dental college!

The Dental Faculty Associates are wonderful, from the people at the desk, Maggie, Bliss and Vicky to the people who assist, Dennell, Christine and Shelby. The dental hygienists, Emily, Jordan, Pam, Marie, Christine, and Becca have all been kind to members of our family. We have seen many dentists here and most are top notch!
Two of my children have had their wisdom teeth out in the graduate Wisdom Teeth Clinic, it went well!

The best advice I can give regarding the Dental Faculty Associates is that they are out to swindle you for as much money as possible! Pre-determination estimates are randomly processed with different dentists until the provider who charges the highest fees is established as the contracted rate. As a physician who works in medicine, this is completely unethical and fraudulent. Therefore, BUYER BEWARE! Make sure you get an estimate WITH THE PROVIDER WHO IS GOING TO TREAT YOU BEFORE you proceed. And even then, know that they will add an additional 30% to the bill. Which is why I advise all my friends and colleagues AVOID this place if specialty work, ie root canal, crown, core and biopsy, needs to be done.

I've been trying to get in contact with someone to schedule me an appointment for over a month, yet, no one will give me a call back or pick up the phone. Its the only place in my area that removes impacted wisdom teeth. I already have a referral and I cant just walk in to set an appointment because even though its the closest in my area, its still about 40min drive from me and I dont own a vehicle.. My wisdom teeth are causing me headaches and I've been eating soft food for 3 weeks now witout much food option and already lost 22lbs in 3 weeks. Thanks for such a crappy everything.

I wish I could stay in Ann Arbor to continue my treatment from U of M dentistry. I was so lucky to meet a bunch of great people here. Becca, thank you so so much to cleanse my teeth and made me not that afraid of seeing a dentist that much. And for Dr. Schneider, Dr. Wang, Dr. Giannobile and Dr. Bauer, they are all really nice people and caring about their patients. I really appreciate that you guys had been working so hard to try to save my bad tooth after I told you I didn't want an extraction. So sad that I moved away and had to try my best looking for a good dentist as each of you guys. And by the way, if someone needs to transfer your records, go downstairs the place called central record department and they will help you to transfer all you records. They are gonna written down everything in details during you treatment which impressed me a lot. And the lady at the front desk, even though I don't know her name. She helped us a lot by scheduling our appointments before we leave and we really appreciate her way of greeting us and being so helpful to us each time. You guys are the best!

First, everyone was extremely kind. Was laid off from my job and had to come here to have a cracked tooth removed. It previously had a half done root canal job from a dentist I no longer frequent. I was in pretty bad pain and no dentist felt "comfortable" doing it. When I call they initially set my appointment out on April 3. I was in excruciating pain. The filling from the root canal had completely fallen out and it felt like a dry socket left a gaping hole. They bumped my appoint up to March 23 and I was extremely grateful though when I called it was the 21st so 2 more days of this pain and otc pain meds that didn't even take the edge off.
The pain was so bad it made me vomit throughout the day. When I got there it's the most confusing set up. I went to 4 different desks before getting anywhere, good thing I showed up 45 minutes before the appointment. One clerk tells me I have an account from an address that I haven't lived at in over 15 years, I'm 26 - but when I called a few months back for a different issue they told me I had no account and that I as a new patient, have close to a 6 month wait (at the time I called) I ended up explaining myself over and over to different students and dentists. I signed so many times they kept forgetting what I had done already. Asked me about my health history 3 different times. I feel like my medical records should be viewed without problem since it's all the same institution. Nope, we started off as if I was a newborn.
I was in so much pain I had been avoiding talking so you can see how this Went. The assistant joked about whether he ssked abojtbmy pain level. THEY NEVER DID! 😲
They take for ever to do the X-ray, had me bite down on the tooth that was causing pain, while adjusting and readjusting the camera over and over, then conversing with a colleague shortly before removing it.,
They were pulling and yanking at my mouth for almost 20 minutes, taking breaks so that others could come and ake a go at pulling it. They admitted this was a tough one, they decide to flaps it which has to be signed off on or something so I sat there waiting for them to find the Dr. - then I hear the 4 year student telling him not to "SAW" over incision as it's takes longer to heal and is really painful for the patient, but to remember this for THE NEXT TIME! 😳
Then he goes on to yank and pull so hard, dentist after dentist giving it their full strength yanking my head around, kinda reminded me of a c-section! The numbing medicine has already worn off but I don't say anything because I don't want them to stop, I was very calm, I just to get it over with. Then come the stitches..I felt each time they poked my gum, each time he tied the suture, and then heard the 4 year student tell him they weren't tied tight enough and to use some other method-AGAIN FOR NEXT TIME! They send me home with no antibiotics and no pain meds. I ask for something for pain, the doctor PRESCRIBES otc Tylenol, after telling him that this is exactly what I've been on and it hasn't helped AT ALL i don't realize this is what my prescription is until I get to the pharmacy.
I call back and the person who answers says, if the dr wrote this he probably felt this is all you needed. First off WHO ARE YOU, to tell me how much pain I'm in. I was livid. I had AN EXTREME amount of trauma from 3-4 different people yanking at my tooth all starting with their full momentum and strength, and the doctor who wrote the script WASNT EVEN IN THE ROOM! We walked half way across the building to even get a signature for it.
He calls in 12 Tylenol 3 which has taken off the edge, the stinging pain from the cuts, but nothing for the extreme amount of trauma, the actually pulling, and the extreme amount of pain for the infection that existed before the extraction, that basically felt like being punched in the face by Mike Tyson 37 times I've had a few extractions but NONE made my jaw swell like this. I'm going on 7 days now in excruciating pain, back to taking otc like tic tacs The pain hasn't changed a bit,. 😣

I would give them negative 5 Stars if I could! Horrible! They screwed up everythingggg they touched. They were cruel to my child. Now I'm supposed to make a four hour drive there again so the can re-cement a bracket they placed YESTERDAY?!? And they won't refer him to somebody closer to me to reglue those brackets. Probably because they don't want another dentist to see what they've done to my child. This is exactly how you get people to never ever go to a dentist again.

My family have been going here for 5 years. In a teaching environment, things proceed very slowly. You are assigned a student who is constantly being coached and evaluated frequently. The students are not seasoned professionals. The good thing; no short cuts allowed. Every procedure is done by the book being checked over and over. I have been to private dentists and the bottom line rules. Since the work is being performed by students you are charged accordingly; a lot less than I private practitioner. If you are not able to devote 3-4 hours of your day at every visit, then go to a private dentist and be prepared for sticker shock. If you are on a fixed income, no insurance, broke or just want to receive quality and affordable dental care then this is the place for you.

I've been trying to make an appointment to get my wisdom teeth pulled and they never answer the phone, and my dad has been a patient here since the day he was born because he was born with a blood clot in hours leg that won't go away and they fucked up his leg even more.
February 12, 2014, I went in to get my bottom left molar and wisdom tooth pulled and they did it, but they didn't numb me all the way, they didn't mention sleep sedation (I would have paid the extra 200 for it), and they pierced my nerve. I could be punched in the jaw on my left side hard enough to break it and I would only feel it on the right side, so that's just great because now my jaw locks on the left side, I can only chew on my right, and it's hard to talk because I can't feel the left side of my jaw. Thanks so much (note the sarcasm)
