If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst hospital I've ever been to, Dr. Dowden refused to take blood saying that the 'white blood cell count test is inaccurate' and 'wouldn't change his mind about what he would do', even though I explained it would at least give us a peace of mind to know if the count was high or not he said he would not run the testing. My friend has been in SEVERE abdominal pain for over a month and was told nothing could be done, they did NOTHING for pain management, refused to do a barium enema in order to check the colon because he said it would be a 'waste of time' already went to a general practitioner and OBGYN and still no answers or anything done to help the pain. No one should ever go to this hospital unless you really want to waste time and money.

Best care I have ever seen. I highly recommend UnityPoint Health. I remember the first time I came to Cedar Rapids and I remember a banner saying that they were rated number one and I can see why. Even though I'm not from Cedar Rapids I came up there often and I witnessed the care that they gave a patient. Every person on the care team was exceptional and I am grateful to have witnessed what we should all expect and health care and nothing less it's things like this that make a difference and how well a person will rebound after an illness or surgery or are suffering from terminal illnesses but need help giving alternative methods to cope with the day today events. I met with a speech therapist occupational therapist and physical therapist and a nurse. If you have the option to choose a group for your care or loved ones you should UnityPoint. They truly have raised the bar

Recently I had surgery. I felt comfortable during my surgery and subsequent hospital stay. The staff was outstanding.

Can I post a ZERO? I wouldn't take a sickly looking slug to St. Lukes, but we are forced to use them now because of Gov. Branstad. It would be nice if they at least provided the correct phone number.

Visited the emergency room this morning and there was nobody at the counter. My boyfriend had to roam the halls yelling "Hello??" for a couple minutes before anybody came out to receive us. Later in my visit today, I was instructed to use the restroom prior to a procedure. I went in the restroom and there was dried blood all over the toilet. I had to put latex gloves on and clean it myself. When I opened the door to exit the bathroom, the patient care tech had her ear pressed against the door, obviously listening and looking at me in an accusing manor as if I was stealing gloves or specimen cups. Nope, just sterilizing my own toilet. I will not be going to this hospital ever again.

whover is in charge of hiring their nurses there, is doing it wonderfully, they all are very caring and nice they made me feel like they really cared about my mother. they would try and talk to her even though there was a language barrier always asking if they can do anything for us family.
Some of the doctors and upper management in the other hand, are worthlessness. horrible bed manners, Rude and with no compassion to the patient. things will get mossed, mom would not get fed "because of short staff and they forgot" had my mother transfered to the U of I. I will never go back to that hospital I will go to Mercy or the U of I even if is farther away.
Also it's so hard to believe that in this day and age and with all the cultural mix in Cedar Rapids these people do jot have translators in house. the service that they have on request is very unreliable. 😔 shame on you.

Born here, "raised" here, worked here. The amount of change to this place over my life is incredible. Not really sure how to rate a hospital. Consistent, fast, accurate. In and out times at the ER are improving drastically.

I went in for a spirometry test (measurement of lung function for asthma).
Desk personnel were helpful enough. The operator I saw was friendly and courteous. I took the test and was out pretty quickly. High quality, clean equipment. I received my bill for the test the next month. No big deal, as I had called well before taking the test to find out my cost with insurance, etc. Paid said bill. Two months after the test, I received another bill. This was marked as the date for the test, but was for a visit with the doctor. I don't use their doctor. Why am I being charged for an office visit that I did not have? I already paid for the test, which was the amount I was told over the phone. I don't want to pay another bill that I was told nothing about

I was schedules for knee replacement at St Luke's. When the pre appointments were made I realized there was one appointment that I could not do. When I called to change it the pre admission person in orthopaedics was rude and snide on the phone. It got to the point that I totally lost my temper. I was not upset about not getting the time I needed I was upset at how I was talked to and treated. I cancelled my surgery at St Luke's and scheduled it elsewhere. The lack of professionalism at St Luke's made me feel I would not get good care there.

To make matters worse this person's supervisor called me and while she talked to me in a professional manner she basically told me I was wrong and that they couldn't schedule me for the time I needed. It was never about the time, it was about the nasty tone of voice, the bad attitude I got, the lack of care to my dilemma and mostly the lack of professionalism. Again that person did not listen. If I could give St Luke's a minus on this review, I would.
