This is my favorite burger restaurant and there are lots to choose from. Umami gets the flavor balance just right for one of my favorite American foods: the famous hamburger. Please keep up the good work!

Very famous burger restaurant in La. We were really pleased by the taste, I doubt Ive ever had better burger BUT actually price/portion size was seriously very poor. For 25 dollars you leave with half empty stomach. There was also really helpful and nice staff. Definitely worth a visit, but for me its not a place I would come back. Still 4/5 it was really good.

Pretty great burgers, high quality ingredients and nice environment too. Definitely is a little different with that Umami focus. It's not a good or bad thing, just different but definitely worth trying at least once. 4/5 vs 5/5 because I feel like it's a little pricey (then again this is around Santa Monica)

Had Impossible burger. It is a vegetarian burger but tastes and smells like real beef! Wish Impossible burger is available in Umami Tokyo too.

Food was pretty good, service took a while though and to top it all off I got charged the incorrect amount. Usually not a big deal but they promised me a refund of the $30 extra I was charged and never followed through with it. For what I've went through with Umami, it's just not worth it for me to come back. I already kinda feel like $35 is expensive for a burger, $65 is ludicrous. I'll take my business elsewhere.

The wait staff are kind and friendly and the food is absolutely BOMB! If you're a vegetarian, they have the Impossible burger (a veggie burger that tastes like a real beef burger) or the option to switch out any of their beef patties for a mushroom. It is about par on price with other local eats, nothing too pricey. The atmosphere is welcoming with mid century industrial decor. Definitely would recommend for an outing with friends or coworkers.

The impossible burger was the second best vegetarian burger I've ever had - in the world, and I wish I'd gotten it vegan (without the cheese) because it didn't even need it flavor wise. I could tell it wasn't meat, but only barely.
The onion rings are crispy and tasty, but a little oilier than they technically needed to be for a tempura batter. No stars off for that though.
Service was fast, friendly and professional.
If you like a certain sauce from the trio they bring out, just ask for more of it - they were very accommodating.

I just wanted bacon and avocado on a burger. They had one with bacon another with avocado, could I combine them? No, because we have pretentious flavor profiles.

They made it right! W/O going into detail, I went to sit down and eat with my co-worker. Our order was mishandled, but these guys went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I voiced my concern and they handled the issue with flying colors They definitely get a 5 star rating for customer service and retention. I will keep coming back for sure with this kind of hospitality.

Went to try the impossible burger! Was not disappointed! A far more economical burger, with no sacrifice in taste or texture. Thomas our waiter was excellent as well. Would definitely make a repeat visit if we were back in Santa Monica.

After a long day of shopping at Fred Segal and Santa Monica Promenade, I was hungry with my friends so we decided to stop by Umami Burger.

The atmosphere is "chill" , very laid back but still has a crisp feel to it.

The restaurant is fairly small and extremely popular, so we had to wait 15 minutes around lunch time.

I had the Umami Truffle Burger Poutine style at Umami Burger because I didn't want to have any bread. Umami Burgers taste more heavier than other burgers and even though the size looks small, it should fill you up. Parking is free in this plaza, so I like to park there, eat, shop and then come back because all the other areas, you will have to pay for parking~

I like this place because the staff was friendly and helpful with helping me decide what to eat and drink. I especially liked being left alone to read my book. Although the place was sparsely crowded, people seemed to be enjoying the chillaxed atmosphere. The music and screen TVs add to the experience.

As I wrapped up my visit to Umami Burger, I concluded through observation that some individuals are afforded a greater service through checking in, small talk, and attention. This runs along ethnic lines, and European-Americans receive the lion share of it.
