There gas pumps are different then any I have ever used and walked in there asking why the pump wasn't working obs thay know about the problem because that had a demo pump handle in there and showed me how to work it. That where exactly rude about it and made snarky comments along the way. Best bet is to avoid going into the store all together and pay at the pump.
Over all the gas stations at Point Roberts, this is the one I prefer. The prices are low if not the lowest, the pump machines are brand new, and there's rarely any wait.
Tried calling them several times through out the morning to see what their current gas price was as their was nothing posted on Gasbuddy. Let it ring and ring and ring and nobody would answer the phone. They can't possibly be that busy that they can't pick up a phone.
Check out the other review below (greyed out) under the link…"Not currently recommended" ….. I wonder why!! The truth!
Do not shop there if you are paying in Canadian Dollars. They rip you off.
I tried to argue with them but they wouldn't listen and said it's done automatically by their cash register. Then she took out her calculator and showed me how they calculate the Exchange.
Today the exchange rate is 25% on the nose!
So, she takes my total and DIVIDES IT BY 0.75 !!!
That is a really good way to steal money from Canadians.
For example, if rate is 25% and it costs exactly $100 USD, it's pretty simple….. $125 Canadian !!!
But do it their way…. $100…. 25% exchange…. Divide 100 by 0.75 = $133
They have their cash registers to automatically do it this way, so they must have been stealing money for a very long time!
As the other reviewer stated, if you call them after you get back to Canada, they will probably tell you it was a mistake…..Nice :( (sarcasm)
Please go somewhere else….the one across the street is smaller, but for some reason you get more gas for the same price….pumps may be modified as well.
It's sad really.
Great prices! They are not sneaky like the Chev and the Shell by posting a Canadian exchange rate price that is still paid in US dollars. (Double exchange rate what?)
Very fantastic value and quality gasoline as far as I can tell!
I haven't had to pay by cash yet so very limited experience wiht the cashier but the one time I did, it went smoothly.
Cheers!
Today I encountered a miserable lady working at the cashier named Paige. She looked like a sweet lady until she opened her mouth. She was nasty, clearly hated life, and was just completely rude to myself and my friend. We were trying to fill up gas and a jerry can at one of the pumps and we were paying cash (I have done this many times before at this station with no problem). The lady was incredibly rude when taking my money and had no smile on her face at all. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and let it slide, I told her what pump number my car was at and then went to the pump to fill up the gas. The pumped stopped working as soon as I was done filling up my car, and it wouldn't let me fill up my jerry can, so I had to go in there again and ask her if I was doing something wrong. Apparently this was SUCH an inconvenience to her, because she said I was doing it wrong and didn't put the gas pump into the jerry can hard enough (she said that there had to be some pressure put on the gas pump for the gas to flow). Without any luck, and knowing that she would probably get even more upset for "inconveniencing" her again by asking what was wrong, I asked a young man to help me out and see if he could get the gas pump going. Sure enough, he couldn't do it either. We ended up moving pumps, and turns out, Paige had put the money on the wrong pump. So it WASN'T our fault in the first place, she was the one that had made the mistake and was making it seem like it was our fault. Paige was the rudest, most unfriendly person I've ever encountered in the customer service field. It is awesome to have cheaper gas at Point Roberts, but it is not worth it when you get customer service like that. My friend and I will be getting our gas elsewhere, where people are much friendlier and know how to treat their customers with respect, even if they are having a bad day. Paige did not apologize after knowing she had put the money at the wrong pump, she was convinced that it was our fault and that we were just not doing it right. I don't think she is a good face to have at the desk of your store, it makes customers like myself not want to come back to your station, since there are plenty of other stations to choose from around that location. Many other people were very put off by her as well.
