I gave them quite a bad review here a few months back because of some of the maintenance issues that were not taken care off even after I continuously reported them to the local management. I was approached by the regional manager, Jonas the following day, and I must say that they tried their best to quickly resolve the problems.
In general, Jonas mentioned that they are trying to make some changes in the management to bring the place back into order. Based on my recent experience, that statement seems to be true. They have made some improvements to the gym, outdoor space within the property is now clean and free of pet waste. I hope they will keep up doing the good work and bring this place back to what it used to be 5 years back.response / report this review -

I moved into Town and Country in December last year. I've had some maintenance issues since I moved in but the maintenance staff has been very responsive - they even rescheduled with me multiple times when I kept forgetting to put my dog in his kennel for the day. The common hallway got dirty for a couple weeks but has recently been very well maintained and looks like they changed companies recently. I had a problem with my neighbor's dog running around and the new manager was very helpful and came right to my apartment to see for herself. I'm not sure what they did, but the dog isn't running around all hours of night anymoreAWESOME!!! It's very convenient living here and working at Carle Hospital. All and All, my experience has been positive and I've decided to renew my lease again.

Earlier this year we found human feces in the laundry room. To be fair we put in a work order and it was removed promptly.

I've lived there for one year. The apartment is really old. Many things were broken, even after repairing, such as leaking sink pipe, broken window, air conditioner stopping automatically all the time. However, one thing needed to be grateful is that the maintenance staff are very kind and friendly.
What's more, they did not refund my deposit after one month I moved out, instead, they sent me a mail, charging me more for something I did not know ahead at all. Before I moved out, I had cleaned the apartment thoroughly, but they claimed that I did not meet the rentable standard. No documents provided ahead showed what the rentable standard was, and no staff went inspect with me when I moved out. If I had the instruction ahead, I would try to follow what the instruction indicated, or if there was a staff going inspect the apartment pointing out the problems, I would handle them out myself. Both of these were written in contract, but they ignored on purpose and just told me I should subject to contract. They did nothing ahead, but just ask for extra unreasonable charge now.
I intensively felt to be treated unfairly.
Think carefully before making a decision, because you might need to use your precious time to deal with something meaningless even after your contract is over.response / report this review -

Town and Country constantly has apartments ready for immediate move in for a reason: they are AWFUL. The grounds are not well-maintained and the untrimmed shrubs in front of every building allow for a constant population of every kind of insect imaginable to man (and they WILL get in your apartment, no matter how much you spray). At least one of the pools is green at all times, it constantly smells like raw sewage outside because it's near the Sanitary District, and the buildings themselves are not maintained inside or out. From my unit's window, I watched maintenance tear down two balconies in another building, put 2x4's up as temporary barriers, and then never build the new balconies, even after several months had passed. Inside the buildings, garbage is left in the common areas, I've stepped in urine that was in the entryway, and over the course of the two years I lived here, the security door's lock had been broken at least twice a month - and it was never fixed in the last month I lived there. Even when the door did work, ANY KEY WILL OPEN THE LOCKS. I've opened the security door with my mail key, friends' keys from other apartment complexes, even my sister's dorm key. Even beyond the grounds and buildings, the police are constantly at the complex, and even food delivery people have told me that they have to be careful at Town and Country because they've been robbed while delivering there. There are so many other options in the CU that are the same price for way better quality; Town and Country is not worth it.

Poor communication, dirty hallway, poor response time, poor and often unusable laundry and pool facilities. A bill was sent to collection agency without being sent first to my daughter/ me (as co-signor). The bill was for "damages owed" after they had already kept her initial deposit- she left the apartment in great condition and initial deposit should have more enough to cover expenses for touch up paint/ carpet cleaning of normal wear and tear. Called and emailed to request itemized list of expenses and response from manager regarding why turned over to collection when we were never notified by phone, email or mail about the added expenses to her deposit. No response. Hallways stinky to the point of eye-watering. Poor response to repair issues (including malfunctioning smoke alarm) when needed. Would not recommend this complex.

Still waiting on my security deposit. I have called every month since August. They krrp telling me that it has been sent. When I request to talk to a higher up or someone in charge my request is denied. Moved out in July. Was happy with the apartment however it seems like it is a scam.

The Good: What I like about T&C is the spacious and cozy nature of the apartments. They are carpeted all but in the kitchen, and the carpet is decently maintained. The balcony space is nice and supports the coziness. Maintenance requests are responded to rapidly, and the staff is usually prompt to answer emails. They allow pets, with fees of course.
The Bad: This place needs a major remodeling. Seems like it hasnt been since the 80's. Upkeep of the grounds is sub-optimal. For God's sake, someone do some landscaping on the bushes. They are unsightly and gnats nest in them during the summer, coming out and into your place through the air conditioners (which are old and wall-mounted). The gym has been recently "upgraded." However, the treadmills are just there for show. They don't even work!!
When I moved in, I was offered a cheap mattress and box-spring by the manager because I didn't have bed at the time. I loved in to find the set there in the bedroom with a dark stain on it and a deep deep dent in the middle! Why would he even give this to me?? It should have been in the garbage.
T&C offers rent credits for referrals. Interestingly, these referral credit offers keep increasing over time. With the state of the grounds, i'm surprised they can afford it. Don't think it'll be so simple to obtain your credit though. You better stay on it.
Overall, I didn't enjoy my stay as much as I enjoyed laying on the carpet in my apartment. If you need a low-barrier option for a place, here's a choice. If you expect more out of the management though, dont even look here. You can probably find something better around C-U for a comparable price.response / report this review -

1. Rooms are spacious but the interiors of apartment units are pretty run-down. Sliding doors fell off all the time. Have no idea how the heating system is working and no way to know if it's actually warming up the room. Glad it is not an awfully cold winter.
2. One doorknob in the public hallways we pass through everyday was broken and replaced, the other is going to fall off soon. This happens in a short of 6 months since we moved in.
3. Security is a big concern. Have had packages stolen and found the boxes in the W/D room next to our apartment unit. Have had fake Electricity company workers knock on the door and ask us to personal information.
4. Can't open our windows on most days! Don't know how this place always stinks like someone peed on the wall or in the lawn.
5. One star for the courtesy of the office receiving packages (except from USPS) if no one's home. Make sure u put up signs for the delivery people.
6. Another star for one of the staff members in the office. Can't recall her name but she's always nice and friendly.response / report this review -

The apartments are nice inside. But the maintenance is horrible. They don't take care of their properties. All of the bushes are overgrown on the sidewalks. The siding is ripped off on some of the buildings and just hang there. The dumpsters are always overflowing, the hallways in the buildings are disgusting, none of the foyer doors lock. The fire alarms for the buildings aren't connected to the individual apartments and they don't notify the fire department or the police department. The washers and dryers don't work half of the time, and when they do work they rip your clothes or eat your money. It's a shame. This would be a great place to live if the property manager would be more concerned with cleaning up the place, and not so worried about having 5 guys trimming the 3 bushes in front of their office. Don't waste your time or your money on this place.
