    I was completely clueless when I started looking for an apartment close to the University of Illinois in the Champaign-Urbana Illinois area. The folks at Bankier Apartments were absolutely fantastic; going above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and find just the right place to call home. Jackie, Margie and Miriam showed me several units that were completely remodeled and very fairly priced. I ended up choosing a brand new second floor unit in Park Place Tower - It's BEAUTIFUL! They even came over and showed me how to use my HVAC controls and found me just the right parking spot! Talk about service after the sale! I'll definitely be renewing next year!

    Bankier Apartments has a wonderful, friendly staff! They are always so quick to answer phone calls and fix any issues their tenants have. Amy and Alicia both are so helpful! I definitely recommend Bankier as a leasing company.

    I lived in CU for 6 years while completing my PhD, and I rented from Bankier the entire time. I lived at 505 S 4th for my first year and then moved to 55 E Healey for the remaining five years.

    Both properties were well maintained, clean, and quiet. When maintenance was required, all of my requests were dealt with promptly and effectively, often on the same day the request was made. All of the office and maintenance staff were polite and professional.

    I always recommend Bankier when I hear that people are looking for apartments in the CU area. I had an excellent experience with them and thoroughly loved the apartments. It was difficult to move away after getting a job out of state because 55 E Healey truly felt like home.

    Bankier Apartments and their staff are the most amazing and friendly people I have met on campus! They got me into an apartment very quickly, were very accomodating, and very helpful when i had any questions! I recommend this company to anyone looking for an apartment!!

    I live in bankier's apt (56 E green) for over three years, and I would like to give a fair review for other UI students.
    Pro:
    Location Location Location: most of their apts locate in the center of Champaign downtown, which is extremely convenient for students work in lab till late night and need food around.
    Payment option: This company accept check/online bank transfer/ credit card to pay rent, which is convenient.
    Space: Their room tend to be larger than market average.
    Rooms available even if you apply late: Better apts generally runs out pretty quick, Hot apts could get out of space for next two to three years!

    Con:
    Obsolete building: Most of their building were really old. They do maintenance, but problems still occur frequently. For example, water heater in upper unit exploded and huge amount of water flood my belongings. You will need to take all these losses by yourself without renter's insurance. (generally cost +$100.) Heating/Cooling cost is high due to lack of Insulation.

    Noise: If you live in their old building, then you will hear every single detail of what your neighbor does. Such as they fart in toilet, close the door, make Love, say something to themselves, & etc...

    Overpriced: Bankier's apts generally then to give slightly higher price compare to others. If your budget is tight, then choice other apts.

    Landlord entre your room frequently: Urbana city require landlord give notice at least one day before they enter your room. However, Champaign does not have such law. Although most of the time, landlord will knock the door before they open your door. There are several times that staff open my door without any notice. Live in Urbana if you really care about privacy.

    Overcharging: It is quite often that they charge you for problem that exist when you move in. They refuse to fix those problem and then charge you for that when you move out. The company also refuse renter to steam clean the carpet by themselves. (If you do so they still charge you carpet clean fee) Therefore, you will have hundreds more bill when moving out compare to other companies. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PHOTO OF EVERYTHING WHEN YOU MOVE IN!!! COPY THE CONDITION LIST SHEET before you turn it in.

    Dishonesty: Their mouths were full of lies toward international student, and I am not the only victim of their lie. It's quite often that they lie about condition of apts when they *talk* about the room. So you must VISIT THE EXACT ROOM YOU WILL LIVE IN BEFORE YOU SIGN THE LEASE. Misleading information include mail/package/parking. Take your time read the lease documents! Again, you must visit the exact room!
    PS: all these cons were true for old apts, if you live in their new building (e.g. Skyline Tower), then the only problem is overprice.

    In summary: Live in Bankier's old build will give you an average to below average experience. (3 to 2 star) Their new building should give you a good to excellent experience. (4 to 5 star).

    Others: C-U area generally tend to be very safe (compare to Chicago downtown, & etc...), and this area does not have bed bug problem too. Most of apts does not have cockroach (or the pest control work really well). Most of downtown apts are furnished with acceptable price. TAKE THE COURSE GIVEN BY UOFI TENANT UNION BEFORE YOU MAKE DECISION!!!

    I've been living in their 519 green st apartments for 3 years and couldn't have asked for anything more. The building is regularly cleaned and maintained with no issues at all. Excellent staff who are always ready to help. Highly recommended.

    I have been a tenant of Bankier three times. Two as a residential tenant, and once as a commercial tenant. Both times I have been highly satisfied. Every maintenance issue I have had has been handled quickly and effectively. I find the management to be very fair too. They are reasonable people, and are genuinely interested interested in having happy tenants and retaining them. Recently a contractor broke a water pipe in our building which caused substantial damage to our business. Bankier went above and beyond and made an apartment available to us that day in the same building. We were able to continue to operate our business while repairs were being made and did not have to turn away any business. If that isn't top notch customer service I don't know what is! I would highly advise anyone who has a problem to actually call in and talk to someone. I think you will find that your experience will be the same as mine has been. Being reasonable and friendly goes a long way these day. :)

    After living on campus for around 6 years, I've dealt with multiple apartment management companies and have found Bankier to be the easiest to work with. The staff, specifically Jackie, went above and beyond in service and accommodation in helping me to find the apartment I wanted in a very timely manner.

    I appreciate the ease of communication with the office, and have found them to be receptive and responsive to my requests.

    The apartment was cleaned thoroughly prior to move in, and when I noticed the washer was broken upon my first use, it was immediately replaced. Very easy to deal with.

    Overall I find Bankier to be a solid company to rent fron. I would be likely to recommend their properties to a friend.

    The bankier staff goes above and beyond to accommodate their tenants needs. I have always felt welcome when I come into the office and the staff is always extremely kind and friendly. My building is mopped and cleaned regularly and the maintenance staff is always speedy and efficient when responding to requests. I strongly encourage you to consider Bankier for your next apartment. I have been extremely pleased with the staff and company and cannot say enough good things about this staff!
