Good place, lovely scenery and a good time. Eyesight wasn't that far from the case which was some very lovely scenery. The only problem that I had was with my wife dealing with someone who wasn't customer-friendly in the payment process. Manners and etiquette are everything. I'd be willing to go back, but even more so knowing that in the process of ordering whatever I need to order that I'm dealing with someone who understands that they have a paying customer and are more considerate.

So most of the staff was very nice the old lady did seem like we was a bother to her but over all nice people. The RESTROOMS was a joke major upgrading needed I didn't want my kids to even use them. Our campsite was 67 and 90% of the camp sites including ours was on a hill our tent was going at an incline. We woke up two feet farther down in the tent because of the hill. The water was a joke didn't trust it to be drinkable after seeing the bathrooms. Place has some nice views and has potential but lack of effort from the owners to update. Recomend reserving a spot at old man caves campground. They could learn a lot from them.

What a dump. No pride in their facility at all. Shower houses are gross and the bathroom is even worse. Floor is always wet in the bathroom and I would 99% say it's toilet water from the toilets flushing since most aren't bolted to the floor and rock. Isn't that nice walking in your own toilet water to go to the bathroom. No windows in the cabins just screens stapled to the openings. Might of been a nice place at one time from the pictures online.

It is a nice sized campground. Quiet at night. Sites are clean. For tent camping I recommend the wooded sites as opposed to the straight away on the field, especially if you're going in the heat. They collected trash and delivered bought fire wood. Great location to explore the State Park. Entertainment 2 of 3 nights we were there.
Lost 2 stars for facilities in general. They could use a 5-year phased update plan. We couldn't get anyone on staff to agree whether the tap water was potable so we went into the park to fill jugs. That right there threw me for a loop, potable water seems like a basic provision. There were no spigots near the tent sites we were in. Our option was an unmarked hose bibb outside the rec hall or the laundry room sink. The first shower we walked into didn't have a shower head and the pull rope was frayed so high I couldn't reach it. The second shower we used, the pull rope slipped off the handle mid shower. If my 6'2" husband hadn't been standing outside I wouldn't have been able to rinse my son without moving to a 3rd stall.response / report this review -

We were pretty much the only people staying there, besides another group or two. Pretty hands off crew there, we arrived and the instructions were posted on the office door, check-in and out was a breeze.
The spots all seem pretty close together, but that's the point of a big, basically family oriented, campsite. Stay elsewhere if that bothers you.
Plenty of places for our dog to roam with us and there's an adorable pond.
Picture your average rustic campgrounds with no frills, and that's what this place was.
We'll be happy to stay again.response / report this review -

Extremely unprofessional behavior from this "company." I essentially got scammed out of my rental money.
(TL;DR)Brief summary in case you don't want to read the entire thing:
I planned a trip to Hocking Hills, planning to stay at one of their cabins. They seemingly were not ready for me, and when I wanted my money back, they refused. So not only did they ruin my vacation, they cost me my cabin rental money and refused to refund me.
My brother and I planned a Spring Break trip to the Hocking Hills area (which is gorgeous, by the way), and this had the cheapest place to stay. All I wanted was a place to sleep both nights since this area is a decent trip from home. (Roughly ~3 hours drive). Once placing my reservation online, the ONLY thing I received from them were two emails, one confirming my request, and one confirming my reservation. Absolutely no details on what to expect, instructions to check-in, etc.
When we arrived at the campground, it was immediately apparent no one had been on the site in quite some time. We walked up to the front office, which was closed. (This was around noon) We looked up and down the front area, and saw nothing able to help us, and without any cell service (and the payphone conveniently out of order), we figured we'd come back later and try again.
My brother and I checked in periodically over the rest of the day, visiting various locations around the area, looking again and again around the front office area and wandered around the campsite a bit. We eventually gave up, and after a long day of hiking, we had to drive another three hours home. Once we gained service, we called the office and left a message saying that we were not able to check in, would be canceling our reservations, and were expecting a refund.
The next day, a lady calls me acting as an employee of the campground. She tells me that they had left a note on the front door saying "the key to the cabin was inside the cabin." I told the lady that there was no such note on the door, and that this was very unprofessional, especially with no previous instruction. She replied with the following: "Sir, this is the off-season. My manager can let you reschedule for anytime in March or April." To which I replied that I would not be doing business with them ever again. I asked if I could get my money back on at least one of the days, to which she replied "No sir, I'm afraid I cannot do that. Goodbye." And promptly hung up on me.
So, not only did this company cut short my Spring Break vacation, they refuse to refund my rental money, which, as a student, I could really use. If they see this review and do end up refunding me, I will adjust accordingly. But as of this point, they have not given me any indication that they plan on doing so.
Please, avoid this campground. It is poorly managed, poorly maintained, and I hope you can avoid the same predicament as the one I experienced.response / report this review -

Upon arriving at the campground on Saturday for our weekend getaway with family it was obvious that no one has preformed any sort of maintenance at this location for many years. The lack of mature trees leaves campers open to the elements. Good news though, the sites are so close together you don't feel as though you are exposed. All of this could be overlooked because we were there to enjoy the great outdoors, however, when we went to play mini golf (which is free for a reason, I found) we didn't finish our game due to the horrible condition of the mini golf equipment. There were rusty nails sticking out of every piece of equipment and if you put your weight on the course you felt as though you would fall through. I was genuinely afraid for my toddler's safety with all of the rusty nails protruding as well as the ones I found on the ground.
On Sunday we had planned to buy our son a souvenir from the camp store, but when we arrived at 10, when the sign said they opened, we were greeted by a locked door and a man on a golf cart (one of three who were always around) who stated that they girl who worked there had called off and he would attempt to call his manager to see if they could get someone in. When we went back at 11:25 to see if they had opened we were instructed by the same man that the store would not be opening at all that day because no one else had keys. I found this incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable.
I cannot speak for the men's restrooms, but the women's were horrendous. There were three sinks, all of which had decaying cabinets around them and were rust covered. This was the same conditions the toilets were in.
This was the only campground that had any spots left for the weekend we were wanting to take our trip, and now I know why. If anyone has visited this campground they know to steer clear in the future.
As a toddler mom I know that this may not apply to others, but the four pieces of equipment that made up the playground looked at though it had come from a schoolyard 50 years ago. It was rickety and unsafe.
The only good thing I can say about this place is their proximity to Ash Cave. We really enjoyed our hiking.response / report this review -

We travel a lot to various places to hike. We prefer dispersed camping, but the Hocking Hills area seems to be about the money and not the people. This place is no different. We pull in to see if they have any spots for our converted box truck. Mind you it looks just like any rv but better built. The snooty young lady told me we don't have any spots available for that "thingy" instead of just saying we're full. I got money, I could buy any RV I want, but I enjoy using my talents. She judged us before we walked through that door. I went down the road to Caveman Retreats and that young lady was happy to see us. I even gave her a nice tip for being so nice. I would have spent a but load of money there enjoying whatever they had to offer for my family. Guess they missed out on that one.

My friends and I came across this place while trying to find a campsite for the next three nights. We loved it. Checking in was super easy and the employees were very helpful. The campground is very large and there are some slight hills, which can get challenging with tent camping. The bathrooms and showers were interesting, we didn't mind the outdoor feel, we are not sure what the other set of restrooms are like. You can order firewood in the office and they can deliver it to your site. There is also a trail that leads to some of the sights around Hocking Hills. Overall we had a great time staying at Top O' Caves.
