I has SMILE procedure done 9 months ago by Dr. Wiley. During the consultation they gas you up, telling you everything is super safe and the chance for a bad outcome is less than 3 percent.

I came in insisting on PRK for both of my eyes. From my extensive research, it seemed to be the best fit. The recovery is not the easiest, but I didn't like what I had been reading about SMILE. They insisted and insisted that SMILE was the better fit for me.

A week after my procedure, my vision was completely blurry. This worried me as many people have clear vision by the one week mark (including my father). I called my local eye doctor who saw me and recommended I speak with the surgeon. I made several calls to Toledo Lasik & Cataract. The receptionist, Sherry, at one point said "You need to chill out". Is this something you say to a patient who is worrying? I think not.

Finally after what felt like begging, I was granted a appointment with Dr. Wiley. This was one month post op and I was still blurry as could be.

Dr. Wiley's explanation was strange. He said that eye surgery is like iced car windows in the wintertime; some people just need a tiny hole to see, while others need the whole window to defrost before they drive.

AKA The Doc thought I was being overly picky. Imagine that, picky about my eyesight.

I couldn't get any help from anyone, so I decided to let some time pass. Now I am 9 months post op. Still blurry, still daily fluctuations, still daily eye redness and dryness.

My vision is now trash. I had moderate near-sighteness before surgery. Now I how migraines, dry eye, and need glasses to drive (the point of surgery was to not need glasses).

    Beware!

Just had my consolidation and felt manhandled. Kept asking me to open my eyes more or raise my eyebrows. They were as open as far as they go. Then asked to give me numbing eye drops. Said okay. Forced my head back to give them. Couldn't open my eyelids no matter how hard I tried after the drops. They kept insisting I do, but couldn't. They waited 1 min then said I'm done, not recommend showed me to the door. Sitting in the parking lot waiting for my vision to clear before driving.
People were nice enough other than the actual patient manner.

Won't lie, it's a freaky procedure, but I was in the OR for less than 10 minutes total. Wish I had done this 10 years ago to be honest. Great staff, fantastic doctors, highly recommend. I can see better than I ever could before, YMMV.

The whole experience was amazing. I went in there pretty nervous but the entire staff did a amazing job. My vision was terrible so i was really hoping this would help me for years to come. Surgery went amazing and my vision is perfect. This is truly a life changing thing. Thank you all so much!!
