Thiel’s went above and beyond to earn my business! I got the exact truck I wanted at a price I couldn’t find anywhere else. It’s nice to know that small town family business like this still exists! Keep up the great work!

I would not recommend buying a vehicle from Thiel Motors, was told the truck I was buying "was in great shape" and supposedly had a clean car fax. After driving 4.5 hours I finally get there to clearly see the hail damage all over, an entire paint job redone on the truck, and multiple dents on the roof. Before making the drive I had asked the dealership if there was absolutely anything I needed to know about the truck, any damage, any paint work. Needless to say I drove 4.5 hours for nothing.

Very very high on there prices. And don't want to give u anything on ur trade in. I took a very nice 2003 Chevy Crew cab there that was almost better shape than there truck was and they give me a $6000 dollar offer on it when 25 miles north of there place I had a $10,000 dollar offer on my truck. U figure it out from there

Drove by and saw a vehicle that really caught our eye. We went in (they were closed) to get a closer look and it kept getting better and better. Clean vehicle, low miles, all the right accessories, so we decided to come back when they were open. The next day when we got there, the owner came out and was vey accommodating, not pushy whatsoever. Took the vehicle for a ride, couple of minor things we noticed and mentioned them we got back and was assured that they would be taken care of. Dickered a bit with them and easily met an agreeable price. When I came back to pick it up, I was told that they put all new brakes and rotors on at no cost to me! They thought at 30%, that needed done and they took care of it. I was pleasantly surprised for sure! I would highly recommend purchasing from Thiel Motors if they have what you want. Great people, great service and I ended up with a great vehicle!!!

Picked up an amazing (and rare) 2006 LJ JEEP from Thiel. Buying a used Jeep is a gamble not knowing what it's been through. The jeep was spotless. Rust free, engine bay steamed and cleaned (which actually was concerning wondering what DID it look like). Almost looked too good to be true. Long story short, worked with Spencer who was great and VERY accommodating being 200 miles away. Got the vehicle home. It dies. Bad alternator. Send it to a Jeep specialist in town for a few days to go over it with a fine tooth comb (which I was going to do regardless of it dying) to do a complete drivetrane fluid change, brakes, FULL inspection. Other than the alternator, it came back with a clean bill of health. The shop actually wanted to buy it from me. Reached out to Spencer and told him the issue I had. A week later a check for $300 shows up in the mail to cover the alt. Not saying this will happen for you, but it did for me. It says a lot. They could have easily walked away and been done. Buying used cars is stressful. These guys made it as least stressful as they could. For me my experience was better than expected. Thanks Spencer and Jim. I'm happy, and I'm pretty particular. If you're in the market for a JEEP, keep an eye on their site. Had 5-6 amazing Jeeps on the lot.

    Thanks Thiel!

Just wanted to warn people to be careful with Thiel. This is my situation. I bought one of their classics they had for sale. Reviewed all pictures, the ad write up and then spoke with one of the owners for over and hour. I ended up buying the vehicle, I knew I over paid but felt it was worth it to get a big dealerships backing. Now, the nightmare. Delivery truck showed up and first thing I noticed was the engine oil pan and transmission pan being completely wet with oil. I noticed this as it was on the top row of vehicles on the delivery truck. Man, my heart sank as the online sales images showed spotless oil pans with not a touch of oil on them. Then, the delivery guy asked if I knew about the dent on the front passenger fender and the gauge on the passenger rear quarter panel. I said no and then he showed me. I was even more distraught now. I had investigated the pictures on sales ad with a fine tooth comb and even went back to see how in the world I could have missed this. What I found was the glare in pictures was right on these spot so there was no way I could have seen this. However, I specifically asked the owner in the our phone conversation to describe the paint on the vehicle, his exact words, "Very very good paint with only a couple minor pits from it being driven". Next issue, the A/C which was described in the ad as Ice Cold with brand new R34 refrigerant, well, wouldn't you know, it didn't work at all. On top of this, when I started the truck and revved it up, the motor sounded like it as falling apart and going to shoot a rod out the side of it. To go along with this, the motor was smoking profusely out both tail pipes. This is what I got form Thiel Motors when the owner himself described the vehicle as totally solid as it had only recently been restored.

Now, here are the facts with how Thiel handled this situation: At first, they were so so so apologetic and stated don't worry they would correct the issue. However the more I thought about it and realized this vehicle was going to be a money pit, I decided to tell them that I was just going to return it. This is when the owner's attitude completely did a 180. He then stated that he would discuss it with the other owners and get back to me. Well, here were the options I was given and please note I supplied picture proof of each issue and even pleaded for them to get on the phone and listen to this motor issue in which they never agreed to. First option, return it and buy another vehicle from them and I would get a full credit on this vehicle. Second, return it and pay a 20% restocking fee. Third option, keep it and they will send me a check for $1500. I thought to myself, WOW, is this nuts, a restocking fee on a return on a vehicle that was not in any way shape or form the vehicle advertised. In which I have in writing that the owner stated he was sorry that he missed noticing the dent and gauge, an email stating that he spoke to the mechanic and dealt with him on allowing the vehicle to go out with major, and I mean major oil leakage, and email in writing that they had to fix the AC system. However, no mention of the engine sound or the massive amounts of smoke out of both tail pipes. He even tried to state that the leaks must have just formed, however as the picture prove, oil and dirt everywhere along back of motor and top of transmission. In no way possible was this a new issue. Believe me, I am not fabricating a thing here and have full proof that ever detail I state is 100% true.

I ended up returning the vehicle under the condition that they reconsider and reimburse the restocking fee if every issue I described was 100% legit. This is when Thiel stopped communicating. This is when I contacted the Iowa General Attorney's office who is now going after them. They stated that I was the second such complaint within the last 3 months and they are going to pursue compensation and put a stop to this type of misrepresentation of vehicles. So, just beware, this really is not the dealership they profess themselves to be.

I am a retired GM dealer, with my background it is unusual when I encounter someone as outstanding as Jon Thiel, Jr. He is a third generation dealer and still does business the "old school " way : total honesty , a gentleman to negotiate with and the truck was described with great accuracy. It was a pleasure to do business with Jon Jr.

I live over an hour away, my info was taken over the phone and pre approved shortly after. We made the trip the next day to test drive the truck I was intrested in and had one of the best vehicle purchasing experiences yet. Love my truck!

We bought a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 from these guys. We live over an hour away. Got the truck almost home and check engine light came on. They said they would fix it but we had to bring it to them. We also said the brakes didn't seem right. Drove down and they gave us a loaner which was nice and fixed it after 3 days, new sensor and new master cylinder. Drove down and swapped and then drove for 2 days and check engine light came on. They kept telling us it was a new sensor we decided just to live with that. Drove it for the summer and parked it for the winter. Drove it twice this spring, brakes service light comes on. Took it to someone in town. Said all the brake lines were bad and someone had put compression fittings on them to try and "disguise" the issue. No all lines need replace and abs is fried. Now since almost a year has passed they will do nothing about it and it cost almost 2000 to fix. We have put less than 3000 miles on this since buying it. Very deceitful.

I made the terrible mistake of purchasing a classic pick up truck from Thiel Motors in De Witt, IA. They had the vehicle on Ebay and their website described as "Straight from Arizona"! Which means rust free in the classic car world. Before the purchase John Jr. Thiel told me his dad was on vacation in Arizona and just got this great rust free Arizona truck. The description and John said there was one little rust repair done in the floor pan. John Jr. said we are a family run business and their reputation speaks for itself. Unfortunately I trusted him. Turns out it was from the RUST belt in Iowa. The vehicle has major rust on the underside of the body, frame, and suspension parts. I have been a major car guy my entire life. I have owned over 40 cars and never been taken advantage of in this way. I owned a high end car repair shop in California for many years and never saw any of my clients treated in this way. Avoid Thiel Motors at all costs. I have been trying to find a fair resolution with John Jr only to have my emails ignored and my phone calls not returned. All vehicles have a value and I am willing to pay a fair price for the vehicle or have my money returned. His offers are an insult!
