The sandbar is an absolute 5-star place. The food and drinks are good, people are friendly, and the location is absolutely out of this world. Can walk up to the service window in bare feet and order food and drink to take to beach towel to watch the sunset.

A favorite for over 20 years. As of late (2017) something is different Perhaps different management, perhaps difficulty finding employees.
The atmosphere was somewhat less attentive, than in previous years, thus the 4 stars. I'll reassess in a few weeks but the Sandbar is certainly still the best place for dinner on AMI by a huge margin.

Service was great. View was great. Food was good. Clam chowder & gumbo were incredible. Your drop $150 easy. Just average seafood. It's all about the atmosphere!

This place was a vacation dinner and it was a great experience. The whole family had a great time and we sat outside on the deck or you may call it the "Sandbar". The view was priceless and the food was amazing. The appetizer was yummy and the main course was great too. The Sandbar is a great place to have dinner with family and friends on vacation and to enjoy the view of the beautiful ocean and even after dinner take a walk down the beach! It was so much fun and everyone enjoyed this dinner destination.

This is the first place we went to on Anna Maria Island and it was the perfect start to our extended weekend. Great drinks good food fabulous location on the beach. We came back 2 Days Later and had just as much fun and enjoyed our experience again.
We also went to the sister restaurant the beach house. Another great location restaurant with good food and great drinks.

The food is great. Waiter was wonderful. Huge complaint is they did not have citronella candles or anything to ward off the many bugs after sunset and a light rain. You would think after being in business and this location as long as they have they would have this down. I got too grossed out to eat after I couldn't see if my delicious risotto was infested with bugs. After waiting well over an hour for a table, big disappointment.

You'll want to have every meal here especially at sunset. Friendly service, casual atmosphere (it's on the beach). Good food and good energy. Great for families or gathering of friends.

Cant get a bettet location. Right on the beach - our toes were in the sand. Food was good, fresh and much of it grown on their farm. Great. Happy service. Prices a bit high but everything is higher these days.

Waited 20 minutes for our waiter to say something. Had to speak to the hostess about the issue. Waiter didn't apologize for the delay. I let him know we were just going to find another place to eat. He seemed shocked we were bothered by the massive delay. Atmosphere here is incredible, it's one of the reasons we like it so much. It was one of our favorites last year, but this dude ruined our chances of coming back when we're in town.

Great restaurant on the beach. Fresh fish served and great atmosphere. This place gets really busy so need to show up early. They do not take reservations or call ahead seating. Staff is very nice and the drinks taste great and are not shy on the alcohol. If you sit outside during sunset they Waiters have a compitition to see who can guess what time the sun will set.

Nice decor and set up, aside from the gift shop part of the entrance, which is pretty typical for an area like this so forgivable. The service was extremely good and the server was friendly despite being very busy. The
food was excellent. Had a couple of appetizers that we shared. Cerviche was fresh and tasty, not too acidic. Crab cakes had lots of crab meat. Garnish was fresh and edible. Great cocktails. Sister restaurant to The Beach House further south.

Thanks to our server Mary for giving us such an enjoyable dinner! Very knowledgeable about the long list of items on the menu and made great suggestions. The manager was very visible and spoke to most guests at thier table, and caught us on the way out the door. Best place to eat inside or outside with great views of the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks for the great evening. Brought back many great memories from younger years and made some new ones.

We were on our way to Anna Maria Beach and decided to eat. We followed signs that led to SandBar Restaurant. I had no idea what to expect and I'm so happy we ended up there. I had a margarita (so delicious!). I ordered a shrimp and lobster quiche, it came with fruit. So tasty! My daughter had the chicken strips and loved it, her food came with ice cream. This was a plus in her book! My friend had the crab cake. The presentation was beautiful and it tasted even better. The service was great! Next time I want to try sitting outside, the view is beautiful.

The food was amazing here which complimented the outdoor seating and view of the gulf!! We were there just before sunset and took part in their "Sunset Time" guessing game which was down to the second. If we had won, then we would have either gotten a bottle of champagne or dessert for the table. Made the experience all the more enjoyable. Very laid back environment where shorts, shirts, and flip flops are acceptable!! I do wish they had a better spirits selection and they do need to work on their craft cocktails some more, but I was able to find something to drink. In all, we will definitely be back here on our next visit to Anna Maria Island!!
