It's what you would expect when choosing a resort that has just about everything you could want in an historical location. It's kinda off the beaten path up winding roads tru beautiful mountains and farm lands. Wonderful golf courses, three within minutes of each other, but the Sam Snead hangout is at the "Hot" as it's locally referred to is close to the main resort. I think it's a place where the old and new come together well and work beautifully as a whole. A family place, We love it!
I came here for a work conference and was extremely impressed with everything. The accommodations were impressive. The staff were friendly and professional in every department. I noticed there was a flashlight in each night stand and it was a sign. The electricity went out and apparently happens in the area. They communicated well about the issue but be ready for a small inconvenience. However, everything else was incredible. The southern social hour, movie theater, indoor pool, Martha’s market, the historical tour, were some of our favorite simple parts and most are included in the resort fee.
The best hospitality and world class service there is. Every time my wife and I stay there they treat us as special guests. They will take care of anything you need and arrange for your activities to fit your time there. Rooms are bright, cozy, relaxing, and always get great sleep. Food is top of the line and I could drive there just for their cooking.
Attended a conference and was delighted with the impeccable service, quality of dining options and the accommodations.
Plenty of extra curricular activities: spa, massage, golf, pool, hiking, horseback riding and more.
Rooms are spacious, decorated beautifully. Bathrooms are large, water hit and pressure good.
Great shopping in the resort, quaint shops for every liking. Game room, multiple bars and plenty of nooks to have conversations.
Great thing about the resort us that they are very organic, make their own butter and preserves. Good is fresh, natural and delicious. Planning to come back with family for a great weekend getaway. Recommend you do the same.
This is a great getaway and also a solid choice for large conferences. The food is excellent, the service is efficient, and the amenities are abundant.
Though I was here for a music educator's conference, I capped off my stay with a live Falconry experience booked through the resort. It was a peak experience.
Try the Homestead Resort. You'll have a wonderful experience.
The homestead it's a high end resort, but the service and quality don't quite measure up to the price. The rooms are showing their age ( in fact, the first room we were put in had a large hole in the ceiling, and the second had a loudly leaky bathtub faucet). The place is in dire need of renovation. The restaurants were good, but overpriced for the quality, which comes from a captive resort destination. The spa was better than the rest of the resort. The massages were adequate, but the manicure was excellent and we're the general so facilities (though the steam sauna was it off order). In general, I would say that this is a grand resort on the decline, and I will not be returning any time soon.
This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay in the mountains. We always come up in October for our family reunion and love to stay at the Homestead. Personally, October is the best month to come because all the leaves are changing and it is breathtaking. My husband and I always feel like family when we come in and are treated like VIPs by every single person. My husband loved playing on the gorgeous golf course (no matter how bad he did). The spa is incredible and so relaxing. The rooms are very nice and spacious and each one is different than the next. There are a lot of activities and something for everyone's interests. The Homestead should definitely be on your bucket list to stay at least for a weekend. Can't wait to be back next year!
This is like Grove Park Inn Only in Virginia. We had a wonderful stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend getaway from Greenville About 6 hours drive. They treated us like the VIPs we are (in our own minds) Terrific anniversary!
Beautiful, peaceful, and classy. We had an amazing time. We loved everyone that worked there! They were all super nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is out of the world delicious. It is a great business retreat, couple's retreat or family vacation! Indoor and outdoor pools. Spa. Golf course. The hotel is a little confusing because it is so huge but it is worth the trip!
Excellent Service from people like Woody, Sandra in housekeeping & Miguel out front and many more that I can't remember their names. These folks went out of there way to provide over the top service which made for a great visit. The rooms were great. The building is beautiful. The pool area with food, drink & water slides for the kids truly make the Homestead a resort experience. Not to mention the food 12 on a scale of 1-10. We will be back often. Again thank you to the staff for making our visit so so good!!!
Honestly the best part was the grill cheese😂 anyway. i go with my grandparents every year when we go there we ask for a room in the tower we are making our way around it. Its my favorite spot because of the view. I love this place and totally suggest it!
Simply amazing! Our room was small but fully functional for this historical building. The grounds are filled with gorgeous gardens, swimming pools, a float park, water slide and yard games. We enjoyed a nice and casual dinner on the back lawn at the Casino restaurant. I will be back!
This Omni is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly and attentive. There are a ton of activities to do all over the resort grounds (though almost none of them are included in your stay fee or even the resort fee) and they are all priced pretty ridiculously. We ate in all of the restaurants on-site and the food and service were excellent, the prices were pretty high for what you get. Maybe I'm spoiled by living in a large city where you can get a killer meal for much cheaper, so I wasn't blown away here. Overall, the stay was very nice but in the future we'll probably look for something at least semi-inclusive.
Wonderful food and service. A lovely setting and kind and gracious staff. Four 🌟 s only because the place is old. I would not say tired just old. This shows in faded carpets, painted over chips in wood trim, and strange walkways that seem to have been important 150 years ago but not today. Would I come back though? In a heart beat. What is old is special and unique. It's an experience and an honor to visit.
This Hotel is amazing. So much character. The history here is so interesting. From the hot springs to the golf course, there is no shortage of one of a kind experiences here. Falconry, skeet shooting, fly fishing, you have it all here. The staff is fantastic. The rooms are clean and spacious. The dining options are all very good. Come here for a few days or if you can, a week. You will never get bored or run out of things to do. Excellent experience all around.
