We had a great time at the North Star inn. They had bluegrass by Korner Stone on Saturday night which is a local duo who is very talented. The owners of the North Star are very nice and their hospitality was awesome . We will definitely stay here agian.
The price was great. The location is near the Ark Encounter which is where we visiting. Don't expect any fast food in the near areadrive at least 10 minutes for that. Cafe was not open the first day we were there so no breakfast (Monday). Upon returning to our room after a 12 hour day out the only housekeeping we received was emptied trash cans and clean towels placed on the toiletI had to sweep, and the bed was left unmade & the to such small trash can we had left our empty dinner to go boxes by the sinkthey were still there. Room has an older musty smell but thankfully I bring room sprays when I travel. Had a nice experience with check in. 2 bottles of water were on the bar in the room. Tv is up to date but placed to the far left side of the bed on the wallthat makes watching television from the bed, very uncomfortable. No chairs to relax in, just an old HARD wooden chair and a single bar stool which meant my husband stood to eat while he allowed me to sit. Regretted paying up front for 2 nights as I would've preferred to find different accommodations for the 2nd night. I do like that there isn't wall to wall carpet but a small, area rug would be nice. No back on the remote so when I dropped it I had to fish a battery out from under the bed where it was apparent that no sweeping had been done recently. The bed is very hard/firm. I understand the new owners are working on renovating & updating but some things are just common sense(remote with a battery cover, decent housekeeping, etc.) I would highly recommend this motel if you are just passing through and on a budgetbut not for long term stay.
The room has great potential and would benefit from updated faucets in the bathroom, a small air purifier, updated lighting and correct placement of the television.
Will give this place another try next year. I hope to see further improvements.
Don't be dissuaded by the outside appearance. This is a quaint, charming place at a very affordable price. Very cute rooms with kitchenettes, so nicely decorated you can overlook the stained carpet. The staff and owners were very kind and helpful. We checked in and found snacks, water bottles, family card games and a welcoming card in our room. So hospitable! We were disappointed that the cafe there was closed on Monday because the menu in the room looked appetizing. We saw the inside of the cafe when we checked in, and it looked nice.
What a wonderful place to stay, we stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon because Irma chased us out of Florida, the owner was so nice and accommodating and the restaurant was very good too! We will definitely make it a point to stay here again! Highly recommended!!!
Quite a cozy place. The room was comfortable and inviting. The restaurant was impeccable . Enjoyed the nacho bar. And the big Dave breakfast is a signature meal. Stayed on my way to the Ark Encounter.
Small, but quaint. There was a cute welcome package waiting for our kids, which was great! The rooms were cute and good for a one night stay. The a/c unit was quite old, which and didn't work very well. The cafe was very cute and the staff were very friendly.
Great food, price, and portions! I ordered the fish and it was so good. Our waitress was very sweet, and made us feel welcome! 😁👍
Motel is close to Arc Encounter, but not adequate for me. The floors needed to be swept and washed; dirty and even sticky in spots. Sink and mirror had not been cleaned. Room had jetted tub with shower; I brought Lysol wipes and cleaned before use. Refrigerator freezer is frosted-up and ice extends down inside back wall of frig.
Restaurant was good, but for the additional $22, would have rather stayed at a hotel that served "complimentary" breakfast. Our room was $89 (including tax). I would suggest you stay at a higher-price hotel, rather than spend $111 for 2 people to spend a night here.
