The Mine is the oldest bar in Ohio; open since the early 1800s. This is where the miners frequented when Southeast Ohio was the coal mining capital of the world. The original bar is still in use. At one time it was part of the lobby of the Dew Hotel. Here you will find 19th century decor with a tin ceiling, walls, and a decorative tile floor. They have local beer on tap along with a full liquor array. Do you want a really good hamburger? This is the place to go. Are you attending a performance at Stuart's Opera House? Then stop in The Mine before or afterwards for a beer and a bite to eat. You won't be disappointed.

After a tragic incident last year, The Mine Tavern has rebounded and come alive again! Good beers, incredible burgers and a wonderful friendly staff makes this little piece of history in Nelsonville, OH a must stop for anyone passing this way! Prices are totally reasonable. This is the real deal folks! Ohdid I say it was established in 1842yes1842!
