The tempeh reuben salad is the BEST salad I've ever had. The portion size is very generous ($10) and the flavors and textures are so balanced. I'm neither vegetarian nor vegan and I love the food here. I've also tried the Chili Mac which was also delicious. The vibe in here is hip and fun, it's always clean, and the people are friendly.

The lunch room is a fun and easy going place. The menu isn't for everyone since it is all vegan food, but I think plenty of non-vegans can find something they love here and the baked goods are super awesome! The power up bowl is my absolute favorite! I was looking through other reviews and noticed some parents complaining that it was not a small child friendly environment. I have a two year old and my husband and I have been taking him to the lunch room since he was 5 months old and we have never had any issues with the staff telling us to keep him quiet or something like that. They've definitely brought little toy cars over to keep him occupied which as a parent who wants to enjoy a chill meal while my child is kept busy is pretty great. And bringing the toys over has never been accompanied by a snooty comment or anything like that. My child usually behaves pretty well during outings so maybe we didn't get asked since he usually isn't that loud. I understand these other parents being annoyed by these comments since the last thing you need is to feel criticized during an outing but I doubt the comments were made with intention to make the parents feel bad. I would just like to vouch for the lunch room that it is a totally kid welcoming place. I will say when it's crowded it's not the best choice since it's hard to get a highchair in next to the table with all the seating so close together but other then that no complaints!

I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews, but I find it hard to believe that this place has a policy of taking no special requests. A simple request of no Tomato and Onion on a salad was met by the clerk stating that they aren't allowing substitutions in order to keep their cook line moving. Were we asking for substitutions? Not at all. For a place that specializes in Vegan cuisine this seems extremely absurd. As a result, we were forced to cancel our entire order of food and drinks. We did our best to be discreet about canceling the order but couldn't help but notice a staff of people staring at us like we were being unreasonable. There was no one in the line behind us or in front of us.

I love lunch room so I'm posting in hopes they see this as an opportunity to do better. Customer service is poor. Not sure if it's due to the recent menu change. They forgot our food once and we had to go back a second time to see where it was. 50 minutes total to get it. No apologies until we finally got it. Customers shouldn't have to chase down their food order. Please improve your customer service. Zingermans offers some wonderful customer service classes.

Even if you're not a vegan/vegetarian, this restaurant is a great option. I ordered the Mac and "Cheese" and was not disappointed. I ate the whole bowl--and the portion sizes are generous. They have a myriad of options at a great price. I did go back and there were some inconsistencies. The chowder that I had was watery and lacked flavor, but the ingredients are cruelty free and healthy so I felt good after dining. The service is fantastic. Keep up the great job guys!

Loved the atmosphere here. It was packed and people kept coming in but the service stayed calm and pretended like I was the only one in there. That is hard to do. Be careful if you're in a hurry around lunch time though because this place is a hit for lunch time. A lot of people go there for lunch. The food was great and so was the service. I will most defiantly be back soon!

The Lunch Room is the best Vegan Restaurant in all of Metro Detroit! (I have been to both locations ) I love the large variety of foods and the weekly dishes from around the world. (the quality of the food is great and the food is always fresh). The Staff is super friendly and very helpful. The setting is a bit cramped but cozy. I love the lights at the front of the restaurant. It is busy at most hours. I eat here at a weekly bases. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This is easily my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. At The Lunch Room everything is deliciously prepared, seasoned, and cooked. The ingredients are always incredibly fresh and the dishes have something to offer for everyone. I am especially fond of the grilled queso burrito and the mac and cheese. This place is usually pretty crowded so be sure to come prepared for that! That's a sign of an excellent place to dine and enjoy. Would give 6 stars if I could. If fresh, healthy, and delicious food in Ann Arbor is on your agenda, this place should definitely be big on your radar. You will love it, even if you're of the carnivorous kind!

Friendly service and great food. Before The Lunch Room, I had never had a meat substitute I liked. Now I fearlessly order the Tempeh Reuben every time. You really can't go wrong with food at The Lunch Room.

Vegan is hard and this place does a great job. I have been here 5 times and loved everything I got other than the Mac and Cheese. I think it was unfair of me to try to get a vegan dish based on cheese but I was hungry for it and really disappointed. Great cocktails and baked good too!

The Lunch Room is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. I am vegan (it's a vegan restaurant, be prepared) but I always invite my non-vegan friends here as well. There's nothing on their menu that is not absolutely fabulous. Seriously, I would make a recommendation, but I've had everything on the menu and would recommend every dish equally.
In addition to delicious food, they are always giving portions of their profits to charity and standing up for human rights of their employees and the community!

The Lunch Room is absolutely fabulous and a staple in Ann Arbor's restaurant scene! It's personally my favorite by far out of the vegan restaurants around. Very cozy space with the friendliest staff you'll every interact with. Cute and serene patio seating in the warmer months and their newly added heated tent are great for creating more table space. The menu is bomb, great salad choices, the lumberjack salad is a must try! The locally brewed iced coffee that they offer in the summer is the perfect thing when it's hot outside. I just love this place, I could go on and on, but I'll let everyone go and get a taste of the experience that the Lunch Room has to offer for themselves!
