SHOCKING!!! After liaIsing for 3 months with confirmation emails, they tell me that they have cancelled my family's Christmas Day booking. I called up a few weeks ago and they confirmed my booking on the Christmas Day. I call back today to confirm the time and they have cancelled it. No explanation, no remorse. DISGUSTING!! WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO WASTE TIME WITH THIS PLACE! THANKYOU FOR RUINING MY CHRISTMAS LUNCH WITH MY FAMILY. IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE MINUS 50 STARS. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF - THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! YOU NEED A NEW JOB!!!

It was a fantastic experience. My wife found the place online and we took our niece here for her first trip to NYC. All of us enjoyed the food, the atmospherbe, and the service.
Portion sizes were a good size.
It was a little confusing to find the front desk to get set down. So when you come in you may need to find a staff member and ask.
However the overall rating I give it is a Five and I would recommend this place to anyone.response / report this review -

We decided to try the Boathouse for lunch after a horse and carriage ride around Central Park. We hadn't booked so we sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks and were seated after about 25 minutes. Our table was right at the front in front with an amazing view of the lake. The service was excellent and our waiter so friendly, we had crab cakes to start which were the best I have ever tasted! It was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch probably the best if our holiday, not cheap by any means but worth every penny for the quality of food and the amazing view.

We had our wedding here and see could not have a sled for a better day. The dood, service and setting made all of our dreams come true. James was wonderful to work with! Thank you again for making our wedding one that will be talked about for years to come!

I came for lunch with my partner and had an amazing time. The view is beautiful, food is delicious, and the service is great. Went on a Tuesday around 2pm and waited about 15mins for a table. Great date spot!

Looking for a place to eat in Central Park? This is it. This is the most elegant food I have had yet, while in New York. Check it out.
The Bloody Mary had a straight tomato juice with a heavy hint of horseradish profile. The cucumber drink was refreshing and very good.
The crab cake was A+ and in the top of the ones I've eaten. It was served with a white remoulade or crab sauce. The crab cake was properly grilled and was not dry at all. Perfectly done. The cucumber salad had a light and vinegary taste with a slight amount of oil and salt that I couldn't get enough of.
The scallops ? Out of the park. No pun intended. They were perfectly seared, and not over cooked. The carrot butter !?!? Off the chart. I mean I wanted to take a bath in it. The cauliflower excellent. There was a purée of some sort which I didn't recognize in the menu description.
This was a chef level dish, that you couldn't replicate at home.response / report this review -

Lovely location just by the lake on Central Park, very romantic and superb views. Service is superb and very friendly and super helpful. Food is good, our experience we felt the food needed needed a little work on execution. Looked fantastic however little lacking to bring all the flavours together.
Overall a lovely experience with a wonderful view. If you are visiting the boathouse is a must.response / report this review -

As a restaurant and bar you cant beat the location right on the Lake in Central Park. Last time I ate here the food was good. With cold beers.
As a park takeout staple the baked goods are made here and are great plus - The Price Is Right the takeout counter has been turning out food and snacks for decades. none better than the ones you can get today.response / report this review -

Nice place to eat outside on a sunny day! The boathouse has both indoor and outdoor seating, the indoor bar and restaurant is a little pricier, but there are snacks and sandwiches outside that are reasonably priced. Great little place in the middle of the park!

One of the most romantic places in New York. Great for family lunches (including kids) or a nice date with the marvellous view of the lake and the ones on the boats in good weather. You should not have high expectations on the food but can guarantee that you'll enjoy every second of it. I'd recommend to book a table on opentable app before going there and to call for reservations for more than 4 people.

I've had Sunday brunch here a half dozen time over the past two years. Food has consistently been good with attentive service. But my first (and last) dinner there this past weekend was a major disappointment. I ordered their roast chicken dinner, a basic meal any decent restaurant should be able to prepare well - but not here. The waiter never asked about our meals, too busy apparently to do so. I've had better food at neighborhood diners in NYC. Hard to beat the view of the lake in Central Park. For the money, dine elsewhere and take a walk by the lake afterwards.

Came here for dinner on a weekend. The staff were very friendly and kindly accommodated our request for a table by the water. Our server was great: very knowledgeable about the menu and wines, always available whenever we needed anything and our food was brought at the right times (not too soon or too late). The lake views are unbeatable. Overall a great dining experience.
