Awsome food 1 of my top 2 favorite places to eat at. Only thing I would Improve is some more room between tables. But the good food makes that not so big a deal. Friendly people good atmosphere. Plus some killer scenic views of the valley to the montains.

Scenic views. Great outdoor waiting areas consisting of benches, covered gazebos, huge field and areas for children to run and play. (We love bringing balls, kites, cars, drones, blankets, toys, snacks etc for kids while waiting outside.) Indoor waiting room also. Intercom system to call your party. Food is served all you can eat. Sunday dinner style brought to table in bowls/dishes. The food is Southern style, comfort food; fried chicken, country ham, roast beef, with your choice of sides. Usually 1 dessert such as a cobbler with ice cream or fruit. They now offer take out pricing for left overs if desired. One of our absolute favorites. Worth the drive and 40-60 minute typical wait.

5 stars for the food, 3 to 4 for the wait. Miss the crowd and go at 3:30 on Saturday. Be sure to only eat breakfast and skip lunch, because you're going to want room for all the delicious southern fare. The fried chicken is easily the best thing on the menu, and the sides never disappoint. Everything is unlimited as long as you keep eating it, so try everything. It's $15 per person if you get two meats and $16 if you want all three. This place is set up for large groups, but if you go with more than 20 people the price goes up (but does include dessert). Great food, and they even have live music on the porch for when there is a long wait, so sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and the man calling out names.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. It's very well loved and, yes, the food is good. All you can eat, so many sides and comfort foods. Once you get seated the service is good too. However, I'm just not sure it's worth the extreme wait times and the increased prices, that no longer include dessert. (Especially if you don't eat meat.) I think it's a place to go for the experience, but just go with the knowledge that you'll probably be waiting a while for a table.

Great place for my son's Wedding Reception! Everything was delicious and the bowls were constantly being refilled. My favorites we're the fried chicken and blueberry cobbler!

All you can eat southern comfort food and it's great. That's all there really needs to be said, but I'll say more.
This place is a great place to go after a long hike, and there are several local ones like dragons tooth. The wait is usually long, especially on the weekends. Expect to wait at least an hour. That means bring a group and chill out in the gazebo before you stuff yourself with delicious fried chicken.response / report this review -

Gosh, live this place! Good old fashioned family style dinner with all the fixins and fried chicken you can eat! Great low key old time live country music playing in the foyer, and an amazing view out front.

Great location and great food. I never miss a chance to eat here when I'm in the area. Rocking chair and swings on the porch for your relaxation. And I can't say enough good things about the hard working staff - they do a great job.

Just like visiting family for holiday dinner. Food keeps coming until you've had enough. Very friendly service too. And the price is more then reasonable.

Unique farm house setting and genuine southern country cooking served home style by local family members. Beautiful setting in the Catawba Valley near Roanoke and Salem Virginia about a 15 minute drive from I-81. Very much worth the drive.

The food there is very good southern food. You can choose your meats and they give you a ton of good sides. The awesome part is that you can get your food refilled too. I would recommend going on a Thursday because they have barbecue that day and it is delicious.

The Homeplace is the perfect blend of amazing food, great service, and terrific atmosphere. The rustic, converted farmhouse is the perfect setting for the real southern fried apples, fried chicken, green beans, and pulled pork (Thursdays only). Plus you can't beat the view.

Delicious food, but sometimes ridiculous wait times. This place is popular, and for good reason. Don't eat for at least 12 hours before going and you'll thank me.
