Had a great time on this short but scenic boat tour. Really beautiful scenery throughout the tour, and all the staff were very friendly. There's narration throughout, which provides some interesting information about the surrounding area. Highly recommended for anyone who finds themselves in the area.
On another note, I would recommend showing up early. You're assigned numbers based on when you collect your tickets, which impacts when you board. If you want a good seat, show up early.response / report this review -

We went on the Dolly Steamboat a couple weeks ago. It was a pretty day and a wonderful cruise! The Captain, First Mate & staff were great. They talked about the area and helped us all to see over 30 big horn rams, a couple of bald eagles, & a blue heron. The popcorn was yummy, too. It was a great 1.5 hour cruise on a pretty lake in the middle of a desert surrounded by saguaros and grasses even some petrified wood.

what a fun enjoyable way to view Canyon Lake and the beautiful views it provides. Plesent staff, reasonable pricing, all around good time. Just plain awesome!

As we boarded the piled up duck poo, that no one wants to clean at the doc, is a turn off.
When we sat at the table, the next turn off was cob webs in the corners of the windows above our heads. As I looked closer I noticed that much of the window next to our heads was filled with spider webs and the carcasses of a verity of dead dried insects. I used my table napkin to wipe around the window and the sill to clean of the webs and dead bugs before any food would come to the table. The entire boat needs to be hosed off and wiped down to remove webs and dead bugs. (the ducked poo could be hosed off also)
We were told the grill was not working so they would cruise up the lake 30 minutes till the broken part arrived. We circled back to the dock an hour latter - I guess they never got the part because the top sirloin steak my wife was looking forward to was not offered. We got pan chicken as we went up the canyon water in the dark, seeing nothing. I assume we wasted the day light circling at the dock hoping to get the grill fixed?
We ate while we sailed up the canyon in the dark seeing nothing, then we were told it was time to listen to the star expert, so everyone crammed to the forward and back decks. The light of the boat made it hard to see any stars. The caterers tried to make their way into our huddled together bodies passing out cheese cake. Why didn’t we eat this at our table 30 minutes ago, instead of while standing packed together on the back of the boat? Uncomfortable.
Trying to see stars while consumed in the boat light crowded onto a tiny deck off the back of the boat was not preferable. The stars where hard to see for a star gazing cruise. All in all, I was not happy for the cost. I could of got the same food for a third of the cost at the restaurant. This is not a stair cruise, and surely not worth the cost.response / report this review -

Really enjoyed our cruise down Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat. Our first visit to Arizona, so we really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and learning a bit of the history of the area. Captain and crew were very helpful and friendly. We suggest if you're hungry after the ride head to Tortilla Flats, about 2 miles up the road. We ate at the Lakeside Cafe beside the steamboat and it was really a disappointment.

A friend and I took this trip. It was spectacular. The crew were informative and shared information on surrounding events. We saw an Eagle, Big horn Sheep and lots of boater having a great time. The lake is patrolled for safety. We also visited Tortillas flats and ate at the local pub! We are already scheduling a returned trip with family..Thank you for a great adventure.

Been on both narrated and dinner cruise Can't beat the price for a relaxing and educational experience. Highly recommend for families. A inexpensive way to have family time

The crew was very friendly. The captain let our kids steer the boat. The ride was peaceful and tranquil. Next time, we will bring cards to play. The last 45 minutes seemed to drag a bit.

What a great experience. I took my wife for our 15 year anniversary for the twilight dinner cruise. We couldnt have been happier. Great food, wonderful staff, and lots of awesome scenery and a bonus for us we were able to see some big horn sheep. Last but not least it was very relaxing.

This was the most relaxing day of my entire life. The cruise was so beautiful. I was worried about getting motion sick and I didn't have any issues at all. The staff were very friendly and informative. We took about a hundred pictures and they just don't do the beauty of the nature and the calm feeling of the boat justice!! We are planning to go back very soon!!

Great for a lunch on the water or a dinner cruise. Dog friendly during the day, service animals are welcome at night. There is a bar on board. Staff is friendly and you will enjoy narrations of the local wildlife like the big horned sheep or an eagle.

Such a beautiful and amazing experience. My husband and 7 of our friends attended the Twilight Dinner Cruise and it was magical. The scenery was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. The highlight of the trip was definitely seeing the big horn sheep.

Went on Dolly for the first time yesterday and it was a lot of fun! Bonus, the lower deck is dog friendly for the day cruise. The space is decent, but most of the room is outside so wear sunscreen and a hat. The Captain was entertaining and knowledgeable about the area and landmarks. I would recommend this adventure if you have guests in town or are a native that's never been.

Very interesting scenic ride! They stop and show you rock formations that look like things. They show you rocks and tell you interesting facts. They allow you to bring sealed bottles of water in a cooler. They do have a restroom on board. They have swamp cooler type air. On hot days it is hot!!
