Most of the art isn't by household names like Picasso, or Rembrandt. Though there are a few piece that fit into this category. The museum still has a great and varied collection. The building is nice. All in all one of my favorite in the country.

Very beautiful art museum that overlooks the river and the city of Dayton. Very easy to get in and out of and there is free parking on site. For a small town there is an impressuve amount of art on display and they will have rotating exhibits. The people in the gift shop were very friendly and able to help me.

Excellent all the way around. The special exhibits are exciting and enjoyable. The permanent collection is large and you could spend plenty of time roaming and learning. The staff is very helpful and the building is beautifully maintained.

My husband I love the Dayton art institute. The building itself is actually stunning. The docents are knowledgeable and passionate about art. I have been on docent led tours there with two home school groups, and docents did a good job of keeping their talks interesting for both the children and adults in the group. The children's area is quite well done, with lots of hands -on art for kids to enjoy exploring.

We had a great time at Oktoberfest! We will definitely be returning next year. I recommend heading there early if you will be taking children, or wait until evening if you're out for adult only fun. They had lots of activities for children and plenty of beverages for the adults!

Beautiful museum on a hill overlooking the city. Well curated collections. Not too large to do justice to in one or two visits. Fabulous special exhibitions year round. Friendly staff and lots of eventswhat's not to love!?!

The exhibit had very thoughtful lighting. The coloring pages set up were very cute. The shop had many items pertaining to the exhibit that were very reasonably price for a gift store. The staff were very polite and helpful.

My mother-in-law and I had a great time visiting the Dayton Art Institute. The paintings and sculptures invoked a lot of emotions and we had fun discussing each and figuring out the artist's century and culture. A wedding was being set up in the center courtyard area, and it looked fabulous. I had never thought of the Art Institute as a wedding venue, but after seeing this one, it would be beautiful for a small wedding party.
We only got around the top floor exhibits in the 2 hours we had available, so we will have to come back to go through the 1st floor.

Such a cool gallery, remarkable historic building. Prices very fair, exhibitions unique and frequently rotated. They have evening events very often including theater and jazz night! Check them out!

I loved coming here! We were able to bring our service dog and we enjoyed seeing most of the museum! The staff were informative and the exhibits were beautiful and had lots of variety. College students get in for free!

I really enjoy this museum. First, the building itself is beautiful. I have attended many of their special exhibitions (Dale Chihuly 2001, Norman Rockwell in 2012, and Ravaged Sublime in 2016)and have always been impressed. This museum is much smaller than the Cincinnati Art Museum, but they have excellent special exhibits. Additionally, I have attended their Oktoberfest in the past and found that their special events are very well put together. In additional to their art galleries, they have lovely outdoor spaces as well and incorporate the artwork in their courtyard and on the lawn of the museum.

Their top level is separated into European and American wings. They go through the time line of each region's artwork and have traditional artwork as well as furniture and sculpture. Thumbs up!
