I do believe this is the only non-chain restaurant in all of Beckley. In a really nice setting. Away from town on a pond and quiet. Worth a trip for sure.

Service is wonderful and food is delicious. Wine and spirits choices are abundant and prices reasonable. For example, Johnnie Walker Blue for $25. That's unheard of. We enjoyed a piece of NY cheesecake for dessert. It was absolutely amazing. I felt like I stepped back into the 80s when I walked inside and wouldn't change a thing. One of my favorite dining experiences!

This place speaks Class! By far the best meal I've had in a restaurant in I don't know. From the front door valet to the water boys.
We had been on vacation for 10 days, and not really dressed for this dinner, but they invited us in. I had steak bites appetizer, surf & turf. The lobster was very delicious and the file was just as good. The salad was just as good as the dinner. Drinks were not skimped on either.
Get there early as it fills up fast! A local establishment that only the locals know.

We first visited this place a month ago and we've already returned. The food and service were great and the view is very nice. The atmosphere is a little dated although mid-century modern is back in style now.

Nice atmosphere. Has been there forever. Considered best restaurant in the Beckley area. Very good steakhouse menu. Great service. Call ahead. Can get backed up on the weekends. Used to have a dress code, not anymore. Too bad.

The food here is devine! Went there dor my 40th birthday and i couldn't asked for a better dinner! Ordered Sole fish stuffed with backfin crab & side of asparagus. Hubby ordered swordfish with baked potato. OMG, both plated were awesomly seasoned to perfection! My asparagus were seasoned with an old bay/crunchy topping type yummy! Sole fish simply perfectly seasoned, broiled and crabmeat had bits of onion and celery in stuffing. Would order again! Swordfish was moist, buttery and seasoned perfectly! Even the baked potato was baked to perfection! Oh and side salad has tomatoes that are in buschetta style! Dine here plates are reasonable for quality! You won't be disappointed!

Expected more, but the place was a bit of a let down. It really truly didn't live up to the hype; food was decent. Presentation was "okay", & service was excellent though, cordial & top notch. Just not all that people say it is, personal opinion I give it a B rating at best

Always have a pleasant experience when we go to the Char !!!! The food is excellent and the staff are Very courteous and friendly. Even the valet gentleman are wonderful. Love , love, love it!

Take a trip back to 1990 and go to The Char. The staff isinteresting. But they are friendly.
