We had high expectations of our Disney Trip and they did not disappoint. We stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and enjoyed it so much more than we thought we would. It was clean and well layed out with pools, bars, restaurants, gift shop, horseback riding and much more!! We stayed in a preferred loop and had plenty of room for our 28ft Class A, our car, golf cart and bikes.

We have tent camped and stayed in the cabins and we absolutely love it! The cabins are a perfect size for our family of four. When we camp, the comfort stations are always very clean. We always look forward to coming back here.

Nice park and complete with the Disney charm and cleanliness. Only downfall was all sites are back-in and I saw several visitors, including myself, having problems trying to get their rigs in the sites. Trash containers seem to add to the problem not allowing rigs to pull forward to help straighten up. I did have a nice neighbor help me into my site. Disney cast should be commended at their conduct regarding my service dog. No one attempted to pet her, welcomed her with no problem everywhere in the campground, and treated us both with the utmost respect. Overall it was a great stay.

We stayed at the cabins in the Disney Campground. Very nice. We used to camp there in tents when we were younger, but the cabins are the way to go now that we are older. Make sure to rent a golf cart as well. It makes getting around so much easier. You can go to the parks, but there is plenty to keep you busy without the parks if you so desire. Don't be surprised to see deer and turkey. We are ready to plan our next camping trip!

Only reason it did not get 5 starts from me is the super tight loops and campsites. Pulling a 32 foot trailer around some of those loops is hard; backing into a spot can be harder but doable. I have no problem backing -- it's that the spots were made long ago for smaller rigs. HOWEVER -- the atmosphere, the outdoor movies, and more all make it worthwhile. We are going to try the "higher end premium" spots next time for "larger rigs" and go from there. If we are not staying at a resort, this is where we are.

I give this campground a 5 all day. This is where my parents turned me on to the magic of Disney. I'm used to staying at the resorts now a days but I would stay in a tent here in a heart beat. I have stayed in the cabins and they are great. The magic here is all the FREE stuff to do. Yes I said free. Camp fire with Chip and Dale every night. Disney movie under the stars every night.Go to Tri-circle D ranch to see the pony's and horses Go to the beach to watch the electric boat parade and a great view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night. Fishing, good pools, bike riding, rent canoes, motor boats and golf carts. Or bring your own golf cart. This is my favorite place on the property.

Why 3 stars?! Of course it is a Disney property, so I'm going to hold it to that caliber of review.

They need to get better organized at the campground. There is a shadow box bulletin board outside of the camp store with a big heading "Campground Activities," and they fall short by neglecting to post information like when the campfire is lit daily, when the singalong is, and which outdoor movie is available each night. You can, however, find everything about golf cart and bicycle rentals and any other activity that will cost additional $$.

Campground activity schedules not only need to be posted but also must be made available a few days or a week in advance. For example, when we check in September 29, we should be able to know what nightly movies are playing through October 5.

With regard to the campsites, if you are traveling with a camper or RV with double slides, you absolutely need the premium site if you want room to fit your rig and enjoy your space. Premium sites have concrete pads. The lesser sites do not and may be gravel and are relatively smaller in overall space.

The pool has a cool water slide but in general it was very crowded, even in October when school was in session. Towels are not available at the pool as they are at other Disney Resorts.

Our 4 year old daughter fully enjoyed all three playgrounds she visited as well as the splash area beside the large pool.

Bike riding and walking trails are wide and smooth-perfect for young/new riders.

Wonderful to see deer and bunnies roaming the grounds and the horses are gorgeous to visit and ride. We recommend the barn tour for the horse lovers.

Food at Trails End is delicious and they are wonderful to accommodate for allergies. I recommend ordering family style takeout from the joint attached to Trails End if you'd like to save some dough. (8 pc. chicken dinner with two sides and cornbread for the family was under $30).

When you compare what you're getting for what you're spending for such close proximity to the park, it can't be beat. However, comparing campground to campground, and all theme parks set aside, we have several options closer to home with comparable activities for less money.

Best campground you will ever stay at. Bike trails are paved. The campfire sing-a-long is a must for little ones. Chip and Dale join in the fun. Pool parties every afternoon for kids were the best!

Our family loves Fort Wilderness! The property is clean and well maintained. We love that our kids aren't confined to a hotel room, they can ride scooters, bikes, fish, play tennis, see wildlife, play at the playgrounds, swim at the pools, play in the sand by the beach and enjoy fireworks and the light parade at night. The Campfire with Chip 'n Dale, outdoor movies and s'mores is always a hit! Disney staff is welcoming and helpful, we had some issues with the RV rental company and Disney went above and beyond to help us get the issues resolved. Ms Josephine at Trails End is always a pleasure and adds to the joy of the trip! We look forward to return visits for years to come!

Great campground. One of the best I've been to. The site wasn't big enough for an additional tent as they claimed, but we ended up not needing it. Lots of golf carts! The crushed seashells get into everything. It's like a reminder of your trip every time you see one. Definitely coming back. Would love a DVC option for here.

This would have been 5 stars, BUT there is no gym at this campground. You will only have hiking and running trails.no access to a gym. We were also informed that we CANNOT use a gym at another resort! Not even Wilderness Lodge (right next door)! Why not? Are we campers not good enough to use those facilities? Why are the other resort guests permitted to run on our campground trails, but not return the privilege? Update the campground with a gym! PLEASE!!!

We stayed in a tent site May 5-8 in the 2200 area of Fort Wilderness. This was our first time staying at Fort Wilderness but not our first time visiting the resort as we frequent the Trail's End Buffet that's located there. The check-in experience was unique. It was convenient not having to get out of the car but we did have to wait around 20 minutes. It is very likely that we hit a busier time to check in.

Navigating through the property is fairly simple and finding our campsite was easy with the numbered posts. The campsite itself was very clean. It had a paved area, picnic table, grill, electrical outlet and a large flat area comprised of a sand/crushed shell mixture. We had more than enough room to accommodate the 2 tents (12x10 & 11x8) we brought for the 9 people staying. There was the perfect amount of shade over our campsites. You can only park 1 vehicle at the campsite, all others have to be parked in the overflow lot at the front of the resort.

During our stay they had fire restrictions due to the dry fire prone weather that Central Florida was experiencing. We never had a fire or grilled, however, we did see that Disney had provided 4-6 large propane grills for guests to use.

We requested to be close to a comfort station. They were more than happy to accommodate our request so we ended up right next to the comfort station. The comfort stations had an ice maker, laundry room and bathrooms. The bathrooms were absolutely amazing and clean! They certainly didn't feel like "camping bathrooms." The bathrooms had single stall showers with a small bench inside a curtained area. There was an oversized handicapped accessible one that had a pull down sprayer as well. The bathrooms are open during the day but required a magic band for overnight access. The ice maker was conveniently located right outside the comfort station, however we were extremely disappointed that it only took cards. You can not use cash or change to buy ice at the machines!

The transportation was fairly standard for Disney transportation. You can access the Magic Kingdom via boat on the backside of the resort near Trails End and the other parks via bus at the front of the resort. You take the bus from your depot (ours was next to the comfort station) to settlement or outpost depending on where you're heading.

Overall we thought staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground was amazing! It's the perfect blend of convenience and value. It would be nice if the small general store would stay open 24/7 instead of closing at 10pm. It would also be nice if the ice vending machines accepted cash, change or payments via Magic Bands.

If you're staying in an RV this place is fantastic. If you're staying in a cabin and have a larger family, this is a great option. For others that don't fall into these categories, the other Disney reaorts might be a better fit. There's a lot to do on this 750 acre property. The food is great, but unless you like buffets or dinner shows, your only options are takeout or bringing your own food. There are pros and cons for the right family it's the best.

My family has been vacationing here since before I was born and we always have a great time. There are many things to do here, swimming pool with a slide, pony rides for little one, horse back riding for adults and older kids, fishing, canoeing, marshmallow roasting, outdoor movies and much more. You are surrounded by nature and are sure to see at least one deer. There are campsites for RVs and tents as well as cabins. I have stayed here all three ways and the cabins are my favorite, they are decorated nicely and provide a nice cool place to relax. The property is very big so consider renting a golf cart or bike to get to the pool, marina, or bus depot, there are also buses that will take you around the campground if you don't mind waiting a few minutes. Whether you are just staying on site or planning to explore the Disney parks, the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort will bring you many great memories!

I can't believe it when I read people's complaining comments. Apparently they have never stayed at privately owned or franchise campgrounds. That would give you something to complain about! Fort Wilderness is OUTSTANDING! We have camped here in a fifth wheel a couple of times a year for several years. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The last time we stayed, my husband got very ill and we couldn't leave. I went to the office and even though the campground was nearly full, they shuffled things around so we were able to stay in our same spot until he was well . If you want top-notch camping service and beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.
