Charming hotel rooms are spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. They have a restaurant inside hotel. They also have a bar that you can order food. Bartender has a great personality. Felt very welcomed at this hotel. Room service is available along with shuttle buses. I would stay here again.

They were very accomadating with any extra technical help or materials. The food was amazing, the vegetarian dishes were just as good as any other dish. One of the best experiences I have had a formal.

Great location and great property.

The parking is very bad though.

The rooms themselves are very comfortable and spacious.

The marked up water bottle price of $4 in the room felt unnecessary after the amount we are already paying for the room.

No hand showers in the bathroom felt a bit dated, and the heating system was very extreme. It was always a bit too hot at all times.

Nice classic hotel in State College. Enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant. At our request, our waitress had the front desk put a refrigerator and microwave into our room for leftovers. Also, has a nice bar next to restaurant. The underground garage had plenty of room & clearance for full size truck. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Will look no further when staying in State college again.

Another great stay in this fabulous hotel! The room was perfect, the staff friendly as always, and of course no better location than on the plane of many hives. I have enjoyed a drink at the friendly bar, this time I added a wonderful escape and the breakfast was cold and the breakfast was warm. Another great stay in this fabulous hotel! The restaurant has lovely ambiance and the food was over the top alive and kicking woo! Would stifle again. My husband eats out often and felt this was the best one ever. Another great stay in this fabulous hotel! One more great item to add to the Ascend. Another great stay in this fabulous hotel! Stayed July 1999, traveled with three family member

Large rooms and friendly staff. Room was clean and well taken care of. Styling in lobby is very 80s chic, but hotel is nice.

What a joke! First of all they don't do ANYTHING complimentary for breakfast, and they charge an arm and a leg for the room and forget buying breakfast you'll need a second mortgage for that. The room was ok nothing impressive actually not worth the price. Then I get home and there is a parking fee on my credit card. Yeah a parking fee on top of the astronomical price and no breakfast. Then I try and try and try to call the number and all I get is the quietest voice with a recording saying push this button for this or this button for that and NOTHING wait still nothing Then disconnect. I am NEVER going to stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend anyone do so either. A CHOICE HOTEL MEMBER MY LARGE HIND END.

While the lobby was just beautiful, nothing else about the hotel really stood out. It seemed stuck in the 80s and could have used a better designer. Also was disappointed with the lack of a free breakfast, as it seems like almost a given with most other hotels. No real problem with cleanliness or service.

I stayed here in February. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were eager to help me figure out taxi transportation to and from the airport. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. You won't regret staying at the Atherton Hotel.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable- more so than most hotels at the same price! The location was great. I could easily walk to locations downtown and to campus. I highly recommend it!

Awesome little boutique style hotel. Close to campus and food/shopping. Very friendly staff (4+ different cookies to choose from at check-in: I'm sold!). Free shuttle to and from airport (the maintenance guys who do the driving are awesome. I don't recall the name of the gentlemen who drove me to the airport but he was super friendly and we shared great conversation on the ride.) The room was pleasant. Far bigger than I expected. The bathroom was roomy. Housekeeping staff was great; made sure I was well taken care of for the duration of my stay. Beds were comfy (not too hard, not too soft) and I believe there were both firmer and softer pillows on both beds. ChoicesYay! The only downside I found was that the mini fridge wasn't working but this wasn't an issue for me as I didn't need to use it. I really enjoyed my stay here. Will definitely stay again.
