I'd lived here for 2 years (2015 - 2017) and enjoyed my stay.
Good: The community is safe and quiet, friendly neighbors. The staff is extremely nice and pleasant. Their maintenance service is unmatched, they've responded to my work orders within 24 hours. My apartment was very spacious (2 bedroom) with low utility fees.
Issues: I had a neighbor for a couple of months that smoked cigarettes. The smoke constantly seep through the dryer vents and left a foul smell on my clothes. Subsequently, I had to wash my clothes 3-4 times to remove the smell. The garbage disposal required maintenance quite often. Sometimes I'll go months without using it, then I'll flip the switchand nothing.
Bad: I didn't like the mandatory monthly fee of $20 for the security alarm. In my opinion it should be optional, or allow tenants to purchase their own commercial-off-the-shelf security system.
Things I'll miss the most: The short power outages during severe storms. Unlike my co-workers who stay in Fayetteville, Spring Lake and other nearby locations the power outages at Astoria don't last very long. The community events was fun as well. I didn't attend many of their activities. However, now that I'm gone I regret not doing so. In all, I rate this apartment as very good for the quality of service you'll receive.response / report this review -

I would just like to say so far so great!!!! From day one walking in the door being greeted by Santina in May till right now I have had the best experience. She was with me since day one answer any questions I had felt like a realtor..lol and once I was shown the model I felt like this was home. Yes I read the reviews but.. I wanted my own overall take of this place and give my honest review and as I said in the beginning from what I have personally experienced so far so Great!!

I'm surprised reading these negative reviews but I haven't been here for that long, however from what I know so far:
- Excellent and efficient staff, they always come within the hour whenever i've had a problem. Santina was the main star!
- Emails are sent to you about updates, large packages and verification on the fixed problem so I don't have any complaints.
- Well maintained, organized property.
- Spacious and great apartment to live in!
One thing which scares the hell out of me are the abundance of paper wasp and hornets and you cant get rid of them!! I wish the staff could but up traps or repellents, anything to not keep looking over your shoulder when you're on the balcony. Hopefully my personal traps will prevent them from buzzing so close to us!

I agree with "Sheldon" - I appreciate that they charge a fee for being nasty! Trash should not be left outside of your door for more than a dayif you own a dog, its poop should not be left on the ground; after all, it's not your back yard. If people don't want to be charged for nastiness or sheer laziness, then they should rent a house. We all have to share the grounds, so we have to consider othersso if you're leaving trash and poop for all to see, smell, or step in, you should be charged. And I applaud management for enforcing that rule.
Otherwise, the outside of the apartment is lovely, the inside of the apartment is decent, and the top-floor apartment is always quiet. I have no major complaints. However, it's a bit overpriced for a one-bedroom. I'm considering relocating, but only to get more space for my money.response / report this review -

STAY AWAY from this place. They will lie to your face to get you to sign stuff, while purposely leaving out information. Then they'll call to tell you about all the bad stuff you signed into. What absolute cowards. The staff here are unprofessional, and clearly have no idea what they are talking about half the time, and they have no problem trying to trick you out of money you don't owe them. They'll make up fake laws, and threaten you. The actual apartments aren't very nice either, we have troubles with just about everything in our apartment and usually end up having to fix it ourselves because if maintenance does it breaks the next day. Their corporate office isn't much better. If you looked up "sleazy" in the dictionary I'm sure their name would come up STAY AWAY FROM THESE APARTMENTS.

I've been living here for a year now and it has been terrible we've been dealing with these insect called silverfish and the office or management team and maintenance claim they have been trying to work towards getting it situated getting things fixed and trying to figure out where they're coming from. since we been here they have used two different bug specialist and the problem is still not resolved we have three more months left of living here and I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. We weren't offered any compensation and the bugs are still out of control we have fenced up the air vents, sprays and cleaners now the bugs are falling from the fans onto our bed and floors. No person should have to live like this I have explained to the management about how the bugs were in our child's toys they were in our pantry closet they have fallen on us they have been found in places they shouldn't even be and we have explained that they have fell fell on us from the ceiling and all we got were laughs nothing is getting taken seriously because at the end of the day they get to go home to their apartments or homes bug free and sleep at night mean while we're here fighting bugs morning noon and night. anytime we come home it's a bug here anytime you go to bed it's a bug somewhere you can't sleep in peace. We are not dirty people we never have been and these bugs were here before we even came. This is the only apartment complex I've ever stayed and the exterminator is called out atleast 2-3 times a month.

I rated this place 5 stars a few months back because of how quickly and easily they got me moved in. Little did I know it was because they were sticking me in an old smokers apartment. I just unpacked all my stuff in my new apartment in Chicago and I'm having to rewash all my clothes, get dress clothes dry cleaned, and throwing away any furniture that I can't wash because febreeze isn't cutting the smell at all. So heads up for anyone that's moving in and can't tour the place first.

They started off great but then they became money hungry. There is a fee for every thing. Dishwasher breaks on a regular basis. They charge a high pet fee and say if they find your pet poop on the ground they charge you 150. Leave your trash outside your door 25 fee. There is a charge for every single thing. Maintenance is slow I can call on a Monday and they won't get back to you till 3 days later.

Let me start off by saying this place is great!!!! I moved out of the astoria on July 1, 2014 now I currently live in my hometown of Chesapeake, VA boy do I miss it. The management staff is great the apartment manager Natalie is awesome. My rent was $920 which is great for that area trust me it could be worst I pay $1400 in VA . If you're looking for a safe gated community I HIGHLY recommend this place and it's on 5 mins away from All-American HWY. Also Dairy Queen, Food Lion, and other restaurants are very close by. Keep up the good work Astoria!!!!!!!!!!!!
