We took the dinner train. I'm glad we didn't go during the day. The scenery left much to be desired. But, the meal was delicious and occupied our time between conversation topics.

We dined on the New Year's Eve train at 8pm. The train cars have been restored to their original glory and there is so much history in each car. The food was delicious and the service was too notch. Everyone must experience this dinner trip at least once as you will thoroughly enjoy! We will definitely enjoy again!

Great experience for everyone, the children will have a awesome time. There's two different tickets one for the traditional ride and the other is for Santa's private car which cost a little more but is well worth it. Don't worry Santa visit children in both cars, however the children in the private car get a little extra. I won't say what though.

Great dining experience on the dinner train. Two hour train ride with four course dinner. Service is off the charts, and the fully restored, one hundred year old dining car is breathtaking. Highly recommend this as a great date night. During the winter they also have the Polar Express train for a fun family experience

This is a great place to go if you and or your children love trains. They have a very cool station with lots of trains to look at and some to board. They have a large gift shop and most of all trips to ride the trains. My son was over the moon about the steam engine ride we took and the scenery in this area is gorgeous. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend it for others.

Missionary Ridge Local is perfect length for fidgety toddlers - 20 mins there, 20 min break to walk around and see the turntable, 20 mins back. The yard at the visitor center has plenty of locomotives and cars to look at, but only one to go inside. It's clear that a lot of people have spent a lot of time and money lovingly restoring these old trains. Recommend buying tickets online as a large school group or tour bus can easily take up all the available seats. However, the AAA discount can only be had in-person, so gamble at your own risk.

Had a great adventure with the staff and crew of TVRR! Took the Chickamauga Turn Saturday and was well pleased. Then Sunday I rode in the cab of the #630 local. What a thrill and was impressed with the fireman and engineer and their professionalism, knowledge, and skills. The cab ride was a long time wish to ride a steam engine and it has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this to any one.

It really isn't a museum in the traditional sense, but rather a living one that requires one to engage by riding the rail. The trip we took was their basic ride to East Chattanooga and back. It was a wonderful train ride that the kids loved. There was an option to choose an air conditioned car or one with windows. Seeing a working shop and the two methods (Y rail and turnaround) to reverse the train was a treat.

Only complaint was that only one display car was open.

As a person who likes trains, this place is a miniature heaven. There is a rail yard full of equipment displays, (some in better shape than others), a great exhibit on timekeeping on the 2nd floor of the station at Grand Junction, and yes, lots of trains. They have two working steam locomotives and some diesels that will pull a train you can ride on to the other end of the line about 3 miles away at East Chattanooga. At East Chattanooga is a turntable to turn the locomotive around as well and their maintenance shops are located there also.
The depot at Grand Junction is located next to the mainline of Norfolk Southern, so lots of trains go by during the visit. The people there are wonderful and will do what they can to provide a wonderful experience for the family.

Went on the Hiawassee Loop trip here. The trip is over 3 hours along the river and through the mountains. The price was reasonable with the family deal and saw some amazing sights. Be sure to arrive early as track ownership requires a drive to the depot and a bus ride to board the train. This type of ride would be considered a "bucket list" experience for train lovers!

Awesome experience looking at all the old trains. Enjoyed the train ride as well. Our tour guide on the train ride that gave the presentations was superb. Definitely will be back when my friends visit later this month.

This was a really nice treat for my children and step father, alike! He loved every moment of the actual "local" trip on the train and had a great time remembering how identical the Depot there was to the depot in his little, central Alabama town, many years ago. The staff was very friendly and eager to answer any railroad questions you may have,even on a Holiday weekend! It was great to hear and see these machines in action! The only downside was the odor inside the air conditioned cars. It wasn't a really strong smell, but very noticeable. I wish there was a local that was longer than the hour, but not the 4 hour trip. Great job TVRM!

This place is very fun to learn about railroading history. The train ride is relaxing and smooth. Watching an 80 ton or heavier turning around is a memory in itself. Also listening to the conductor talk about the work they do is interesting. A really good place to take the family.
