My wife and I took an hour tour led by Georganne and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. The tour guide was very friendly and helpful, and also provided many details of the landscape and the history of the land. It’s a slow paced walk (no trotting or galloping), but it was beautiful.
A group of five of us went to the Sunset Ranch for the "BBQ and Best View" package. We had such a great time!!! Everyone that works there is absolutely amazing--they are so friendly and informative about the property and horses! We had a two hour ride with catered food (chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, mac and cheese, cornbread, and pickles--ALL homemade!). There was live music from one of the tour guides and two other guys. Everything was so great, we didn't want to leave! I recommend this place to everyone! We will definitely go back!
We did an afternoon ride, and it was fun, and informative. Our guides kept us informed about the area, and wildlife. The ranch made sure everyone was comfortable riding a horse from never ridden one to someone that has ridden before. We felt safe the entire ride. We highly recommend this place.
Such a unique, special, and incredible experience! Staff was welcoming, professional and fun, they made us feel safe the entire time. The animals were well cared for and you could tell the staff truly loves the horses. This was a lifetime memorable experience!
In love with this ranch. The horses are beautiful and well trained. It was my fist time ridding a horse and gotta say it was a great experience. Our guide was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and made my experience so much better as she kept checking in me to make sure I was ok.
Great experience, knowledgeable guides, and happy, healthy horses. As a horseperson myself I was very pleased with my dinner ride. Loved my mount. Buster was well trained, but still had spunk and personality, not some broken spirited pony ride.
This was hands down one of the best experiences me and my daughters have ever had. The guide was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and the horses were so cool. t
I had the greatest experience at this ranch! My partner and I visited this ranch back in July 2016 when we travel to LA, for the first time. He had everything planned ahead for a proposal on this trip . I had never riding horses before so I was so a little scared but our guide GeorgeAnne was so helpful and knowledgeable and she introduced us to our horses Roxy and Geronimo which were nice and we'll trained. We made it to top of Mount Hollywood within about 45 minutes with the most beautiful and stunning views ever and that's where everything happened. My partner proposed to me and it was amazing I was stunned. I was so happy. This is like the best place for a proposal. I will never forget. I highly recommend this place for a great adventure!!
This is not what you expect when you think of Hollywood! The ranch is cute with great looking horses and incredibly friendly staff - complete with fancy chickens and a pot belly pig to greet you! The ride through Griffith Park is idyllic with awesome views, especially looking down into the cities. Just set your expectation on a leisurely ride - we kept getting passed by hikers - relax and enjoy!
Trying to take my boyfriend to see the Hollywood sign for the first time and wanted a good view.I looked on google maps and started searching and came across Sunset Ranch. The reviews look great, so I book online, fast and easy. Received confirmation and from easy parking and overall staff and the horses. Very satisfied and we loved the horses we were on. Great time and most likely go again! Thanks Guys!
We really enjoyed something very different at Sunset Ranch … horseback riding … in the middle of Los Angeles.
This great little ranch, that we were told is about a century old now, is right on the edge of Griffith Park, and offers a variety of daily rides into the park. We chose the Best View and BBQ ride and enjoyed a couple of hours of a relaxed ride along 6 miles of dirt roads and trails in the park with some amazing views of downtown Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, the San Gabriel mountains, and the Griffith Observatory. You could even see the hills of Palos Verdes off in the distance.
This ranch is an incredibly well-organized operation and when you get there they have plenty of horses saddled up and ready to go. The horses are easy going and easy to ride. But it's the staff that really makes this a pleasant experience overall. They gauge your level of “experience” and then match up a horse to you based on that experience along with your age and size.
Every one of these “ranch hands”, to a person, is authenticity and genuinely happy to be there. They all love their horses and the various other animals on the ranch (pig, donkey, chickens, and rooster) and treat their guests with the same genuine care.
We had George-Ann and Curtis as our trail guides and they paid close attention to every rider and horse, providing a safe ride, while pointing out various sights and history along the way.
They were more than happy to grab our cell phones and take pictures of us along the ride and at the top of Mt. Hollywood … with the iconic Hollywood sign in the background.
After our ride, we enjoyed a BBQ dinner (chicken, ribs, brisket) with live music by our guide Curtis. He was quite good and very talented, even sharing a few of his own original tunes.
The whole adventure was a welcomed departure from the regular hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, and it was so quite up there, that when you didn't see the city, you wouldn't even know you were in it.
Our ride included both young and old, as well as locals and several foreign tourists from Germany, Britain, and Australia.
If you're looking for something different in LA, you will enjoy this easy-going option.
Really awesome experience. I am quite the beginner at horseback riding but they made me feel comfortable. The route is amazing with absolutely stunning views of the canyons and downtown LA. The horses were calm and easy to control. The only worrisome part was that the horses truly walk right on the edge of 50-100 foot cliffs. Be careful if you take your phone out for pictures, someone on our tour lost theirs down the cliff side. Our guide was very friendly and overall it was super fun.
I went with a friend, and neither of us are experienced riders. We felt welcome from start to end and were told exactly what we needed to know & do. The girl on the front desk was friendly, the guide was great and pointed out all sorts along the way. She answered all our questions, about the horses, the ranch and just LA in general. You do have to tip the guide on top of the ride price but we were prepared for that and did not question it at all - the guide was great. The views were amazing, we did the 2 hour tour. The guide also took some photos for us. Would highly recommend.
