This place is a total gem. Owned by super friendly locals, the rooms are clean and well kept, the service is amazing, and they're pet friendly and have a lobby cat! When you check in they give you a list of local places to get food and are quick to help you find anything you need. There's no large community dining area but the lobby is well and thoughtfully stocked with breakfast items that you can take back to your room, and you're likely to run into some friendly fellow travelers while you grab your breakfast. Awesome place and one of my favorites I've stayed in.

I had to stay in this motel because my truck broke down. I never regret that I chose this motel. The owner is super nice woman and other employees as well. I didn't expect to much when I booked a room, but when I got there I WAS VERY SURPRISED HOW ROOM AND BATHROOM WERE CLEAN!!!! I was so amazed about it. They offer nice and healthy breakfast. Most important thing for me they are pet friendly. No deposit requires, just extra $10 . Owner even let me checked out later because of my situation and offered a ride to repair shop. Her kindness and understanding make me feel better. Thank you Debbie!!! Respectfully, Roxanna.

If I could give MORE than 5 stars, I would.
I was HIGHLY pleased with our stay here at the Sunset Motel.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. As well as spacious.
We got the classic room with 2 beds, a table and 2 chairs.
The parking lot was clean and the staff was amazing.
The breakfast was really yummy as well. A few choices of cereal. Some danishes of different sorts. Cranberry juice. Coffee. Tea.
I'm so happy we decided to stay here on our trip. Easy access on and off the interstate.
Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality. We will definitely stay here again if were ever back in the area!
    Best wishes!!

The room is neat and CLEAN! It's simple and older, so know that going in but it's quiet and clean. Beds and pillows comfortable. The owners are super friendly and helpful. They gave us a great recommendation of where to eat dinner at a local steakhouse/Mexican restaurant. Food was excellent and a great value. We will stay here again on our trips between Dallas and Durango.

This motel is incredible! We stayed in a room with two queen beds, and it was huge. It may seem like a small thing, but it has two sinks, which meant my husband and I could get ready simultaneously. It was the first time I didn’t have to sit around and wait for him to quit primping before we hit the road. 😏 The Pogue’s were so sweet, and they are taking wonderful care of their motel. We will go out of our way to stay here again. Thank you so much!

We arrived to check availability. We were excited to stay at a route 66 motel and to support a local business. We were instead greeted by a vacant office and a locked door. We called and a woman answered and didn't know if there was availability. We started walking around the property to peep the rooms and the phone woman abruptly popped out of one of the rooms incredibly annoyed that we we walking around. We asked if anything was available. She said she didn't know. We asked how much the rooms are. She said she didn't know. We asked if we could see a room, not once but twice, she absolutely refused. She was rude, huffy and completely useless as a desk clerk. We figured the motel is a drug front or meth lab, as there was only one car there at 10am and she didn't want to rent or show rooms and seemed clueless about the availability of rooms. So we left and stayed at Super 8 down the street and received impeccable service. I would actually rate this place zero stars if that was an option.

A Route 66 style motel, with big, quiet rooms and large, comfortable beds. A single story structure where you can park and unload your car at the door of your room. Nice people run the place and they always make you feel welcome. The rooms are very reasonably priced also and you can see one of the actual rooms for yourself, albeit briefly, in the Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine and Ben Foster movie "Hell or High Water". I have made several vacations westward through Moriarty, NM and always make it a point to stay here going to and from my vacation destinations. It is not a fancy, newer style motel, but it more than suits my needs and I highly recommend it.

Happily surprised to find this quaint affordable motel on I 40. Rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated. Comfortable beds for a nice quiet rest. Rubber ducky in the bathtub was nice touch! We will be back!

My initial impression was of genuine caring in maintaining a comfortable, appealing environment. Well-tended , outdoor plants aesthetically arranged. The soothing, tasteful colors of the rooms' walls providing a sense of calm. Sunlight filling an already light and airy bathroom. All meticulously clean and well-thought-out to provide maximum convenience and rest. The owners give new meaning to the term gracious. If we are ever anywhere in the Albuquerque area again, we will be back. Thank you!

The reviews online were good – very good. The motel was very clean, updated, and the owner was very nice. The bed was very comfortable, everything was sufficient, the rubber ducky in the bathroom was an extra treat, but It stays in the hotel room – I couldn't take them home with me. There's a little sitting area outside with plenty of chairs and a table for eating. There was a gas grill and a small grill next to it. I said outside last night and watched a hummingbird feed on the pretty flowers. The price was good! Nice meeting Debbie, an owner.

Awesome place! We stayed in room 19. It was Clean, cute, pet friendly, continental breakfast, and a friendly, caring staff. You can see the owners put lots of care and pride into maintaining this place. It's exactly where you want to stay while road tripping.

Very clean, very well put together, very sweet people at the desk. The room was comfortable, with details that caught my attention--like the USB power outlets, the lawn chairs outside each of the rooms, and amond/soy milks available at breakfast. We stayed here one night on a road trip, and are very glad we did!

Wow! Very friendly and clean. I love that they are keeping the vintage look. I feel like I'm at my grandmas house instead of a motel. Truly unique and so wonderful to stay in a place that hasn't been ruined by a franchise. The owners are doing it right!

If you are looking for a great, clean place to stay on a road trip or for any reason, this is it! Trust the great reviews!

We found this place because we brought our little dog with us cross country, and this motel doesn't even charge a pet fee which is so nice! The owners are so friendly and really made our experience great. Our room was nice and clean, and I am very picky about cleanliness. The beds were nice and soft. We slept so well. And the breakfast was also good.
I definitely recommend this motel to anyone. The 50s style decorations are also adorable! We loved our stay. No wonder this place has amazing reviews!
