Booked a morning sail for my husband and I for his 50th. The original captain that was supposed to take us out had car trouble and did not make it by departure time. Another captain was called and he arrived about 30 minutes into our sailing time. But, they just added half an hour on to our cruise. We were also offered complimentary non-alcoholic beverages because of the delay.
The captain was knowledgeable of the area and pointed out several ships and homes that belong to famous people. He and his first mate were friendly and engaging. They made it a point to take the boat close to places where sea lions were so pictures could be taken. We were on our way back in to the harbor when a passenger spotted a pod of dolphins and the captain immediately whipped the boat around and sailed back out to the pod. It was amazing to see them shooting gracefully just under the water right up and under the boat.
We would definitely recommend sailing with this crew to anyone. We had two small children, an infant, and even a small dog on our cruise and everyone enjoyed themselves.

You can say it's a nice sail around Santa Bárbara harbour but forget about watching any whales or dolphins. Another thing to consider, we've been slightly 2 hours in water and real close to the shore.

Captain Alyssa and First Mate Cody were perfect hosts and crew which made a perfect sailing experience even more enjoyable. The boat is immaculately maintained and just the perfect size for an intimate sailing experience. An hour and a half sail can buy a boatload of therapy!

The boat looked really nice and we would have loved to take the 2 hour sailing trip in the morning. The lady working in the office was super sweet. Unfortunately we did not get to sail since the budgeting was so tight for our honeymoon and we didn't realize they had never charged us for the trip even though they took our credit card info at the time of booking. So be known when you book and give your credit card info, they will NOT be charging you until you actually arrive the day of departure, when you check in. It was a big disappointment. We were really looking forward to this part of our honeymoon.

Capt. Allissa and 1st Mate Baron were fantastic. Very considerate and down to earth. Sailing is very much a deep part of them both. This was a delightful experience for my fiancée and myself. We look forward to a next trip with Sunset Kidd and her crew again in the summer. Thank you so much for such a lovely sailing experience on your sunset cruise.

One of the best boats and experience I've had. Been enjoying the experience at least 3 times a year. Caption Dennis is friendly and has information on the history of the area.

We really enjoyed our 2 hour afternoon sail with Dennis and his first mate. Great sail boat, and they've been at this for a long time. I know everybody has different opinions, but the bonus for us was the end. As we were approaching the harbor, Dennis saw a couple dolphins and immediately turned the boat back toward the open water and chased them. Next thing you know, we are watching 10 to 15 dolphins along side the sail boat. Everyone on board really enjoyed seeing them as the cameras were collecting all the pics possible. We will do the sunset sail next time. Thanks Dennis for your efforts!!

For $35/person, Sunset Kidd whale watching is significantly cheaper than his competition. However, on the day we went, there was not much in the way of guidance coming from the crew. They basically took us out there, said "look for water spouts" and that was it. This is not to say they were not friendly, just not very informative or entertaining.
