Set the scene: Around 10 passengers in line. About 6 counters open. One of the agents yells at those of us in-line to use the kiosks if we are checking bags. I already tried a couple because I just needed to print my baggage tags because I already had my boarding tickets; the kiosks all sent me to the counter. Only a couple of minutes later, I was at the counter. The agent was either talking to herself or another because I wasn’t in her conversation. Then she told me where I was flying; it wasn’t my destination. Without a text, email or app alert - I learned my flight was canceled and they rebooked me for tomorrow without any indication. I just took a Lyft to get here. The agent didn’t want me to take a moment to think through my options as this travel is also in coordination with others. She then put me on a flight out of another airport so taking the trains to get there since I can’t drive because I’m flying back into this airport. I recognize the weather and conditions point to these happenings. I’m just taken back by no communication today as we received communication the past two days from the airline about potential issues from this storm. The app is still showing the flights out. Nothing makes sense. I encourage airline customer service agents to allow costumers think time when unannounced changes happen… They need to recognize there is much more in traveling than just a flight. — Fast forward. Tuesday morning learned that my flight home was canceled. Tried calling customer service numerous times, over several hours, only to receive a busy signal. No flights back for over a week according to online app. Ended up having to stay a couple more days in order not to pay over $1K for domestic flight home with another airline.
Updating to 3 stars three months later. Todays experience was quite opposite than December’s. Pleasant staff and timely e-information shared.response / report this review -

Staff are typically excellent (hance to two stars) and that's where it stops. I only fly this airline is there is absolutely no other choice. Would rather rent a car. No amenities and you never get an aisle seat. In fact the seating system is the worst. Will continue to avoid this airline.

Mr. Huntington Beach flew with Southwest Airlines out of Ronald Reagan Airport which is a busy airport. Glad the service was efficient checking my bag. TSA Pre-check Line was shorter than I expected being how busy this airport is for people traveling to or from the Capitol 🇺🇸
There is a nice bar in the middle of the terminal and you can order from your seat.

I’m sure everyone is aware of the disaster over the 2022 holidays. We were part of the large number of people who had flights cancelled, and had to book flights with another airline to get home for Christmas. That sucked, but we have been reimbursed for the full amount of the Southwest tickets as well as the full alternate airline ticket costs, which I think went above and beyond what Southwest needed to to you make it right. Hopefully they use this situation as an opportunity to be even better than before.

I have not flown the Southwest airlines in years. Still the same perky, humorous, and lightly sarcastic. Still boarding by groups and open seating until it cabin is full.
