My first experience with Smith Body & Paint was actually when the owner Gary, stopped at a front end collision I was in that was fairly dangerous both vehicles were blocking a major 4 way intersection on a highway in Ankeny. From that moment forward Gary has taken care of me. He helped me get a tow that night, and helped me get fair value for my salvage. A few weeks later I had an issue with my new vehicle and he diagnosed, and fixed the problem and was 100% honest about what my options were and costs. This is a great family business and I would recommend them for any Auto job you need period. Great business.

I do not have a great deal of experience with body shops, but I was very happy with the service, quality of work, and expense. I had been running around with a dent in the front bumper of my civic for quite a while and they replaced and color-matched the replacement piece. While doing the work they also added some aftermarket fog lights which I had always wanted. Two years later the work still looks great and I will definitely go back to them should I need more body work in the future.

I had my car detailed. They did a really great job on the carpets. No more stains at all. They all look brand new! They went above and beyond in two areas: They shampooed my store bought mats that I usually keep on top of the factory floor mats (that was a bonus). They also removed a black spot on my passenger door for me. (It was paint from another car when that other driver hit his door into mine). They washed the outside of my minivan and the wheels. It looks great. I will be honest, there were spots on the inside that were missed and I'll have to touch those spots up, but that's no big deal compared to having my carpets look new again :)

Was told one week but it took two. Was told that my damage wasnt from the wreck but it was. They left all the fluids low after replacing coolers. Coolent sensor was cracked and not replaced and that caused my gauges to work Intermittent. Again they said wasnt from the wreck. The staff was the most unethical people I have met in a long time. I would drive 500 miles to a body shop before I would return here.

First off the customer service at this place was amazing! As a female walking into an auto body shop, I have never had more respect as a customer or a more informative meeting with any other shop. They explained everything to me in detail and answered all the questions I had without hesitation and with courtesy. They were honest and upfront. I would recommend Smith's Auto Body in Ankeny to everyone!
