My wife and I are regulars. We drive down from Savannah and the meal is worth the effort. The crab stew is outstanding! My favorite main courses are shrimp and grits or the flounder. If you like collard greens you are in the right place. Highly recommended!
Never had a bad meal here yet. The fried flounder is the best I've had. Service was friendly and helpful. Whenever we want to treat ourselves we come here . easily get out for $35. 2 people no alcohol. Great view of the water. You can choose inside or a table at the bar area outside. Large deck on the water to stroll on with bean bag games. Short walk to shops. Kid friendly. Tiny bar inside, larger one outside. Not a rowdy crowd. It seems to be a must place on the list of out of town visitors. When visitors ask for a good seafood restaurant, I always tell them Skippers.
Highly highly recommend the crab cake and blackened shrimp. Very fresh seafood, great service, and water views. We’re traveling through and our waiter recommended some things to do before heading out of town. Would definitely come back!
Absolutely terrific!!! Well worth the 45 minute wait. I had the Bone-in grouper. It was big enough that we could have shared the dish. Wife had the shrimp. Usually you get 6 or 8. Maybe a dozen. This had 17. We could have shared that too. Plus the sweet potato soufflé and the cheese grits were exceptional. We live on the gulf coast of south west Florida. This was as good or better than some of our best seafood places down there.
I traveled about 40 miles to have lunch here today and as always it was perfect! This was my 2nd visit and the service was outstanding. The seafood is fresh and delicious and seasoned well. My kids loved the painted turtle "pool" that's out front. I ordered a Captain's Platter so I would have leftovers and the portions were huge! I would recommend stopping in for a quick bite or for dinner anytime.
We ordered the Captains choice and the Salmon. When you wonder if you will have portions comparable to the price, let me reassure you. You will. It was the largest piece of Salmon I have ever received at a restaurant. The thing is, it also tastes AMAZING! Everything was from the lightly seasoned and fried shrimp, calamari, grouper, to the slightly vinegar flavored macncheese. This is a must try.
Took a little day trip from Savannah today, first to visit Fort King George Historic Site, and then enjoyed lunch at Skippers Fish Camp. The food and service were great and the restaurant was very busy, although we were seated quickly. Great dockside views of the river with indoor and outdoor dining. The menu offers wonderful variety with ample portions and reasonable prices. We shared appetizers of the best fried pickles and baked oysters with jalapenos and cheese. Their whole Crispy Scored Flounder and BBQ Pork Suffed Baked Potato with sides of Mac & Cheese and Cole Slaw were also delicious!
I have wanted to stop here for a long time. I got the chance yesterday for lunch. I was not disappointed, it was everything I had hoped it would be. The meal was perfect, the staff was great and the service was top notch. The price was a little more than I thought it might be but still not bad for what we got. The seafood was very fresh and very well prepared. I will most definitely be back the first opportunity I get.
This place was absolutely AMAZING!!! There was a wait but it was well worth the wait! The food was spot on and super delicious even my two year old ate almost his whole plate! (He never does that at other restaurants.) The staff was nice and friendly and our waitress, Chelsey Rhoads was absolutely the best waitress I've ever come across! She kept our drinks full no matter how busy she was! Thanks for the great service!!! We will definitely come back!
The freshest and best prepared shrimp I have ever had. I ordered the broiled shrimp plate with fried oysters which were also great. Was unique to see the shrimp boats docked directly outside the restaurant. As fresh as it gets! Great outside balcony and dock area as well. Definitely worth stopping if ever in the area.
Saw the billboard on 95 south. Firstly, very smart to put the sign way before the exit, so I had time to Google it and think about going a couple miles off the highway, but the reviews seemed worth it, do I did.
Excellent service, probably the best fried seafood platter I've ever had, and got to sit outside overlooking the water and relax. Will stop here anytime I'm driving past, it was a perfect break in the middle of a long drive.
We arrived at 4 pm on a Sunday afternoon - not knowing it was the blessing of the fleet event! Lucky for us it was just the right time to arrive. We found parking in their lot, and were seated after a short wait. Nice view of the deck and the boats.
Turns out the peel and eat shrimp come from the bar kitchen next door and held up our food order, but they over compensated by giving me a lot of extra shrimp. Huge and sweet. I loved them. The garlic was a little weak. I was afraid to get the spicy but may try that next time. Bacon wrapped scallops - amazing. The crab cakes were huge, and mostly crab meat but I would have liked a bit more spice.
Super place, will stop again!
Favorite place to stop for oysters on the way up to Savannah. We tend to eat in the bar / patio area which has a nice view and you can eat out on the covered deck if the weather is nice. The service has always been great so we keep coming back. My only complaint is the menu says "grouper strips" but it's not grouper. This seems to be common so if you see something with grouper you better ask because it's probably not really grouper.
I have been coming down to this area for the past seven years, and this is by far the best service and seafood that I have had in the area. The liquor pours are exceptional and at a very reasonable price (Bulleit Whiskey) and are backed up by a decent beer selection. The seating is perfect, and you can spill over to the deck area if need be. I did the blackened shrimp at the suggestion of the bartender, and I will never order any other way. The staff across the board was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I didn't catch his name, but the bartender with the beard was great at quarterbacking the whole operation from behind the bar and at every corner of the restaurant.
OMG This is my first time ever coming to eat at Skippers. My husband brought me here for an intimate Valentine's Day lunch I'm so glad that he did. I ordered the Grouper Strips for my appetizer and Sweet Georgia Shrimp with macaroni and cheese. The Grouper Strips are so darn fresh and so tender till they kept falling off of my fork. The shrimp and Mac and cheese was of the chain. We had to get to go boxes. We will be back! If you're contemplating on dinning here, just KNOW you will not regret it. The service is A+.
