Always love going to Simmons. Great people with great prices. Most of the time they are about $10-$20 cheaper than the big box stores and they are local small business so that's always a plus.

I have two gun shops 5 minutes from my house in Hoover but because of bad customer service experiences in the past I refuse to darken their door any more. I have been dealing with Simmons over thirty years and always had good experiences. I have always dealt with Ray in the gun department. He only works 1/2 days on Tuesday and Thursday so I wait until he is working to go there. I have bought, sold and traded a number of guns with Ray over the years and always came away happy. Being treated fairly, honestly and with respect is what every customer deserves and good business owners know that. It amazes me that some of these other shops in the area stay in business when their sales people treat customers rudely, act with arrogance and are not knowledgeable about what they are selling.

Located in downtown Bessemer. Huge selection of firearms, archery, and fishing equipment. Simmons also sales coolers, gun safes, clothes and shoes. Very friendly and knowledge staff.

RUDE RACISTS!!! I have been going here for ammo and firearms. My recent encounter here with a family member I decided to bring solidified that these people are racist and racially profile customers. My cousin was yelled at by an employee and asked "what are you looking for" as if he was a coach on a football field. There where many other remarks the guy made such as you look like a "interior designer". I was so embarrassed to not be accepted as a young black male in this establishment.

This place is great! My dad gets all his fishing supplies and guns from Simmons. My husband and I have also bought fishing supplies and recently just purchased pistols! They have a great selection on guns and pistols. Prices are also great! The customer service is out of this world. Everyone in the store is willing to help you. It's got that down home feel, which is the way a store should make you feel!! Way to go Simmons, keep up the great work and hospitality. We will be coming back!!

Pretty awesome place. I say they beat Field & Stream in Hoover right there in the middle of Bessemer, downtown. Neat building. What's odd is they have a lot more business than the other chains. They had to have several people to man the gun counter too, so patience and getting their attention is key. GREAT selection of targets, ammo (probably the best, but not cheapest), and firearms. Great accessories. They have fishing gear, hunting gear, etc etc.

The only thing I have against them is their business hours are shorter than other sporting goods stores, so I have to make a special trip when I go.
