Never disappointed whenever we visit! Their food items have been amazing, never disappointed with anything new I try. I’m not a beer person but my fiancé loves trying out the variety of beers they offer, the sampler they have for the beers is awesome and great value! Always worth the almost hour drive when we visit up north!
We love eating and drinking beer at Shorts, we go there frequently. The food isn't fancy, but it is tasty and interesting. Beer menu is always changing, and there's always something new and fun to try! Also, we always go when May Erliwine is playing! ❤
Terrible. Just plain terrible experience. Told one wait time, wait an hour more. Hostesses are completely disconnected from what is going on. Ridiculous.
Then the ONE appetizer my wife can eat is out for the night.
Completely disenchanted with Short's. I've been coming to bellaire for 38 years. Step your game up shorts.
Use to be a great place, but has greatly over expanded and became too much of a commercial-touristy establishment
UPDATE
Just revisited this place after a year, and it has gotten FAR worse. Unless you plan an buying dinner, you feel completely unwelcome here. You use to be able to get a drink, stand around, and talk, but now it is totally overcrowded, commercial, and unwelcoming to the casual visitor. Very disappointing to people who were original fans of this place . Not to mention how overpriced the t-shirts and other merchandise has become. Seriously, get over youselves
My wife's words "I think this is the best pizza I ever had! " I have to agree, we selected our own toppings but the freshness of them and the crust, and sauce came together perfectly! Along with excellent beer choices, (Hefeweizen, and Double Magician(yum)) We couldn't ask for a better place to visit! Thanks Shorts!
Location / Atmosphere - Very roomy place with good seating. Love the different level's / sections. We sat in what I would call the dining room. Looked like they had a larger section for what I would consider a 'beer garden'.
Food / Beverage - Good menu of 'out of the ordinary' bar food. It was a cooler day when we were there and I had a bowl of the 'roasted red pepper' bisque and the 'Old Man Thunder' which was a nice change of pace. Both soup and sandwich were excellent. My wife had 'The Rift' which is basically a Ruben. Nothing special but good none the less. Others in our party had the 'Someday' and 'Cruise Control'. All good food And a nice selection of beers and ciders
Service - Very quick and friendly service. I did have to go to the bar to ask for silverware for our table as somehow it was left off when we sat down. Not very friendly bartender at the smaller 'service bar'. Kind of annoyed with me.
In summary - Overall a very nice place in Northern Michigan. It would be nicer to see a bigger menu. I'm sure that it's hard to do this given the very 'seasonal' business that you get. Changing up the menu in busier months might be an option. Like that you are using a more 'modern' way of seating tables. Nice to have a text message sent to my phone when a table opened up. Didn't expect this type of service in Northern MI. Will be back if were in the area again.
The front of house gave us a realistic wait time of an hour and 30 minutes. It was worth the wait!! Our server was great, checking in on us frequently enough even though he was busy. We enjoyed trying a variety of beers. We didn't order any food this visit so darn comment on the menu.
Really enjoyed our meal at Shorts! The staff was all super friendly and the food was good. Highly recommend the artichoke dip, White Pepper sandwich and the Mac and Cheese. Not a huge beer drinker but I did enjoy a flight and my faves were Melt My Brain and Strawberry Short Cake!
The food, the atmosphere, and the beer are great. As an out of towner, I will be returning when I can.
A little out of the way, but a great stop if you're a fan of Short's. They have a much bigger dining area now and although it'll still get crowded, it's easier to get a seat. Food is good and beer is great. Staff is helpful and friendly. Facilities are clean. No complaints other than the drive, but that isn't their fault!
Easily our favorite brewery! We always enjoy stopping here whenever the chance presents itself. We always look forward to the new beers and ciders, always get that chance to learn which are new favorites and which are not. The food is good but not our primary focus when here, probably the only area that could use some improvement. Service is always good. We hope to be able to visit again soon!
Awesome beer, not awesome service.
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner after a day of skiing. There was about a 45 minute wait which we were totally cool with seeing as the place was packed. We put our name in to the text/app system and went to wait and bought a couple rounds of beer (which were very good). After an hour, we decided to check and see where our reservation was in line. It turns out, the reservation system wasn't working properly so we weren't even entered. So we gave them our phone number again and they sent a test text and we got it immediately. Instead of expediting our reservation since we had been waiting over an hour at this point, they said we were still 9th in line and it would be at least another hour. The two hostesses were very nice but for a reservation for two people, you would think they would try to accommodate us a little more. Waiting two hours for 2 people is ridiculous. We ended up leaving without staying for dinner. Will us leaving kill their business? Absolutely not. But crappy service and word of mouth canTechnology is great until it doesn't work. Try not to lose human touch too muchit's too important in the SERVICE industry.
