The Shabbona State Park is a big beautiful place and has a lot to do lots of good trails excellent camping and the restaurant is very good. It looks like they just had a new roof put on and it and it looks awesome!!

My boyfriend and I love this place year round! We fish in the summer. And enjoy renting the fishing boats and pontunes. We also like coming here to hike. Last year we saw a opossum on our hike. Today we saw hundreds of migrating sea gulls. Always a joy to come and spend the day at Shabbona Lake!

This place has made me and my family a fan of the outdoors. We stop by at least twice a year to camp, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. A great place to go unwind and refuel.

I've gone here for the past 2 years to stargaze when there is no moon but this past summer I actually camped out over night. The process was easy and my campsite had a power outlet/pole. There were also showers and toilets with running water. Nice place overall

A great place to escape from the city. Park is clean, fishing is great, camp ground inviting. Lots of room for tents and RVs. They have two sleeping cabins. Must make reservations. Boats available for rent, place to eat, stretch your legs by hiking around the lake. The only drawback is the 'pit toliet' by the boat launch. It smells awful.

Campground is very nice and well kept with good spacing and greenery between many sights. The Park's restaurant is far enough away from the campground to almost require driving to it, unless you want to work off the meal. Sights are gravel and moderately level in most cases, but some show signs of erosion and wear.

Great lake for fishing and renting a pontoon to just cruise. Nice campgrounds with a playground and sand volleyball court. Nice walk around the lake. Overall great getaway from Chicago

This is the third and last time i will visit this campground. It used to be a nice place. We were awake ALL night listening to some sites have a really successful party. No alcohol is aloud, but they sure had plenty. No camp host monitoring at night. Neighboring site had dog barking most of night. Good thing is in the morning though the camp host was off duty, he went to take care of the "party" site. Sheriff want called.

We attended the excellent July 4th fireworks display over the lake. We have made this a regular event. We have also camped there and found the site to be large and the park enjoyable.

Wonderful park! However, considering the importance and prevalence of boating activities there, and boating being a major reason to even visit the park, it is amazingly dismal that they put up with what are probably the worst boat launch facilities for a radius of 100 miles. Junk ramps, poor short docks with no tie-offs or cleats, trees fowling the overhead for even the smallest of sailboats. Beautiful park! But the boat launch is the pits!

Beautiful park for a day trip or camping. The trails around the lake are always cut in and mowed to make it easy for light hiking. There are many different places along the shore to fish from and isn't usually any noticeable amounts of debris floating around. The only thing that should be improved is the condition of some of the shelters could be improved. Again, beautiful place.

I can't say much for the campsites as I didn't camp but did a one day fishing trip instead. Fishing is great if you can get out on a boat. Beware to those that canoe or kayak because the fishing boats and pleasure boaters own this lake. Not much luck for bank fishing, very thick lake weeds surround the lake.
The bathrooms were beyond DISGUSTING ! You literally need to hold your breath and pray you don't catch a disease. Fishermen dumping rotten liver containers down the toilet pit. The level of toxins coming out of the bathrooms is unbearable.

I'm mad at everyone here that gave good reviews. I believed them, dragged my entire family out to this place, and was met with utter disgust and disbelief. This isn't camping! "Here, put your tent 5 feet from these 3 stranger's tents,just like they did. $25 please." Ridiculous. So crowded together. An entire, huge state park, but only half an acre of crowded,gravel campsites for 100 families. Someone actually praised this place for how clean the bathroom was? Yeah right. It's better to go in the woods. You're lucky if you don't choke on a fly while you're gasping for air in these concrete Porta potties. We left after 5 minutes. Then they were rude when I asked for a refund as they acted like they were surprised. But they knew
If you want real camping, this ain't the place. This must be what people in Chicago think camping is. If I can see someone else's tent, that's not camping. But this was way too extremely cramped and disgusting. If I could give one tenth of a star I would.

Great park with a large lake and trails. I would say anything makes it particularly exceptional though. It's a great place to go for a run.
