My friend raved about the place, but I must just be the wrong demographic. The servers are great and helpful, but the baked goods were (in my opinion) far from exceptional in every aspect except price. The sandwich I ordered to eat there was so far from tasty that I ended up giving most of it to a hungry companion who claimed it so that I would not throw it away. The pastries I took home were heavy and bland; the bread I took home was hard (really hard!) and meh. Even the coffee didn't impress me--and my standard for coffee is usually "does it have caffeine?"
I should emphasize, though, that the bakery seems to be forever packed, so I am pretty sure that I hold the minority opinion. I visited twice, and doubt that I will stop in again.response / report this review -

This is a great place to get bread, pastries and coffee. They have a wide selection of breads that are freshly baked and they also offer sandwiches and pastries. I had the cinnamon roll and it was delicious. It wasn't sickeningly sweet but was nice and flaky with just the right amount of sugary goodness. The coffee was very good too. Access to the bakery is easy too since they have their own small parking lot and places where you can park along the nearby streets. Like any cafe, it can get crowded with students and their laptops or other visitors so make sure to go off peak hours if you want guaranteed seating.

The Country Bread is the best bread I've tasted on the East Coast.
There's a lot of choice for good coffee around the East Side. The fact that this cafe and bakery is always so busy is testament to the quality and great taste. The downside is that it's usually difficult to find a place to sit.
Sandwiches are OK but expensive. Pastries are perfect with the coffee.
Parking is limited in front of the bakery but there's plenty around Hope Street. Take a small walk and look at the other shops on the way.

I love this place. I dont drink coffee and only get hot chocolate to drink but if I forget to ask for it to be extra hot (which is actually very warm) it comes to be Luke warm. I think it's company policy to heat it up just enough to make a lot of foam and not care about the temp. Speaking of foam, there's ALWAYS too much foam. I don't care about designs, I want hot milk with artisan chocolate. Pastries here are amazing. I absolutely love all the pastries I've had St 7 stars. Based on pastries alone 7 stars gets 5 stars.

Expect an "East Side" atmosphere here, but it's still pleasant. Pricey as would be expected in that part of the city, long wait for order and the chai was watery, but the ginger scones are too die for. Once you get your order it's really a good place to meet for coffee.

This place is NOT GLUTEN FREE. This place should not come up as suggestion for gluten free. However, the Mocha coffee is delicious.

Good coffee. Great breads and pastries. The problem is while sitting there and the sun is shining in i can see spit flowing out of the staffs mouth while talking over the food. While tall people hang over the glass who are also spraying the delicious pastries.

Do you want tasty baked bread products? Do you care if it is made with butter? If you answered yes and no you are in luck. They make fantastic bread products that may be made with butter, the real stuff. Seriously, go here and get a bread product, olive bread, cheese biscuits, scones Whatever Put them in the pie hole and enjoy.

Almond croissant is really tasty. Tried also being chedder bread, also good but needs more cheese added to it.
Staff are very nice.
Little area to sit outside although small but very nice and cozy.
Prices are bit expensive but overall not terrible.

Just came back from Paris and had the best croissants ever. I heard Seven Stars had the best croissants in the area, so I would compare theirs with Paris. YES! These are certainly as good as in Franceflaky, buttery and delicious! No need to search any further!
I also had a warm asparagus quiche. Oh, yum! Awesome crust and veggie cooked just right. Why go anywhere else!response / report this review -

Everything here is amazingly delicious. I love the strong flavored lattes. Always made with perfection. A few of my favorites is the ham and cheese crescents, sneaked a bite of sons chocolate chip cookie, coconut macorones, scones, Apple turnover and the sticky buns is to die for..

Pretty good latte and raisin roll. The double chocolate cookie they only do on the weekends which they recommended wasn't too special. Would go back though. Nice ambiance, even when really busy. No wifi, likely by design to keep people from lingering too long. Friendly staff.

Ordered a chocolate chip cookie to go and a chocolate almond and chocolate croissant for breakfast the next morning. In addition to courteous service, the croissants were awesome. Chocolate almond one was better. Nice casual outdoor eating area as well. Great selection and it all looked good. If my cookies and croissants are any indication, it must be great!

Seven Stars is excellent! Great bakery items and great coffee! A staple of Hope Street! We buy their fresh bread often! Nice spots to sit inside and outside! Prepare yourself it is very good and well known so it can get VERY busy! Their pumpkin seed bread is the best!

There's a reason this is a Providence favorite. Bread/pastries/coffee is world class. I recommend the almond croissant, but that's because I'm super into almond stuff. If you aren't get the chocolate one instead. the ~$5 sandwiches are a good quick grab for a great lunch. This location is frequently packed with East Side moms though, so be forewarned.
