great lake to take the family to. boat ramps are very easy to use and the people at the little bait store are so nice!! This lake is never packed and the park ranger is really nice. great for camping , boating ,fishing, picnicking and you can swim here but it is a lake so you gotta watch out . some underwater obstructions ( like tree stumps ) and a spillway that isn't marked on the water but it is a fun small lake.

Afton isn't my favorite as it's small, but it's my quick lake day chill spot, been going there and all lakes for over 10 years boating and camping, I have a yearly for the other lakes afton isn't a state park so I pay, for the lady who paid $10 someone robbed you for $5 it's never $10 it's a $5 day pass, the old man is doing his job however he is kind of rude, even to those who have paid, he's been there for a while, like I said he is kind of rude when he approaches you. But I don't let him bother me it's his personal unhappiness not mine. Other than that the lake is fine. Cheney lake people are nice they talk with you and enjoy being there, that's where I go most of the time. Nice people, and not a party lake like eldorado.

Me and one of my friends went here for a one night camping trip each with our own separate tents. We pulled up to the office and paid for a spot to camp. They let you choose your own spot which is fine. But if you have multiple tents they make you pay for two campsites even if you aren't using them both. So we figured since we paid for two campsites that we could spread out a little bit and enjoy ourselves. No. Apparently according the "park ranger/Supercop" we paid for two tents and one campsite, not two campsites as we thought we did. He told us we were taking up too much space even though there was nobody else around us for several campsites. The closest person was at least 10 camping sites away. Nice lake and area but the old guy that is the "park ranger" is a completely moron and we won't return til he is fired or retires!!

This place is a joke. You have to pay JUST to be in the park. The restrooms were absolutely disgusting. Looks like they have NEVER been cleaned. The wanna be "sheriff/park ranger" is one of the rudest people you will ever meet. You wouldn't believe how many people have issues with him. He likes to shine his brights as he drives by every 30 mins into your tent as you try to sleep at night and will patrol through the night like you are at some summer camp. Only stayed there for one night and wish we wouldn't have stayed there at all. Wish I could give this place a negative rating. NEVER will be returning.
