Lower than average food quality. Did visit during off-season (October) - perhaps regular cooks are on vacation?. Nice location on deck to enjoy sunset. Fish and chips should be avoided - fish was ~1/4" thick and breaded to 1/2" thick. Overcooked and served with soggy thick-cut fries. Caesar salad lacked any real taste - seemed like ham was very old. The other two meals were very poorly done. i will never go there again for food (bottled beer good!)

Small entertainment space inside. Music great, drinks strong, not watered down like some places. Outside bar on back deck if weather permits that overlooks beach. Give it a try for a nice casual evening.

My girls and I came here several nights when we were in town. The place is so fun! The bartenders are incredible and are so entertaining. We cannot wait to plan another trip here!

Had the buffet and the food was delicious. Our waiter resembled a young Rob Lowe and was very pleasant. Service was very good.

I never post reviews, however we were very disappointed by our visit to the Rusty Rudder this evening. I read many reviews prior to going and although many were negative, we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it out. We were hoping for the buffet, but after driving there, we were told the buffet was only on the weekends. I did not find this information online and there was no answer the several times I called. We received the wrong appetizer and was charged for it and we could only eat half of our meal as our food was very bland. We were excited to be able to go out and have a good seafood meal, but for the money we spent, we were very disappointed and will not plan on returning in the future.

I visited this "buffet" on 09/07/17, with my son. Service was good, atmosphere was decent, tables are beautiful, food was about average. I had an assortment of fried seafood, all of which was dry, overcooked, and had been sitting out too long. I am a big fan of well planned out buffets. This one, however, did not meet my expectations, nor did it come even close to the full page ad in my hotel's restaurant guide. One star for a very disappointing dining experience.

I was there last night with my sister around 8pm. First the hostess kept trying to get us to sit outside we said no twice. Then she said well we will be taking down the buffet at 8:30. We said we didn't want the buffet anyway. Finally she sat us in a totally empty dining room, when we could see through the glass people in another room. Anyway I ordered the clam strips. My sister had the fried platter. I ate 5 strips and stopped. It was so bad. The grease was old and burnt that everything fried dark to black. The clams couldn't hold the coating it kept sliding off. When it did you could tell they were more like sliced chowder clams, you could see the slices on both sides. My sister's platter was also dark burned oil. Waitress asked if I wanted it boxed up I said no I didn't like it at all and barely ate anything. Not even a oh I'm sorry. Just ok here's the bill. Well I won't be stopping at the "Crusty Gutter" again. And this is the first bad review I ever had to leave! Best clams I had down here were from Fenwick Island!
This morning I woke up needing the bathroom bad, if you know what I mean. I only ate there yesterday. Now I miss a day out because I can't go far from bathroom. Thanks for nothing!

Rusty Rudder is a great spot for live music in Dewey if you want to sit on the outdoor deck. The view is beautiful and the wait staff is so friendly! I think the food and drinks are a little over-priced, but not more than expected for the location. The drink menu is excellent, but I think the food is just ok. I'll keep going back for the atmosphere and music.

Only gave it two stars because if you only go to listen to music and have a drink at the bar this place is perfect.
We had the unfortunate expierance of eating at the all you can eat buffet. Food was supremely under par. Seafood was not bland, dry and not tasty at all. The butter provided for the crab legs was disgusting. Not sure you can even call it butter. The crab legs themselves tasted like sand. Other meats were over cooked. I didn't try the carving station meats as there was no one manning them to cut up the meat. The deserts were passable, yet even the whipped creme from the can was flat and looked more like milk being pored over the ice creme. For the money, go to red lobster.
Watching the sunset at the bar while having a drink is the only reason to visit. Stay away from the buffet!

We go here every year, food and service is good. It is a little pricey so expect that. They do have a bar outside which you can also enjoy the views of the Bay.

We had a great dinner. The Mahi salad was excellent and very fresh. The kids loved the burgers. The crab soup was a little salty but I don't use salt and my daughter loved it. Great time, good food, good service, great band and incredible view.

Great place to hang out in the summertime! We love going here for the great live music whether it's the house reggae band, the Island Boys playing each evening or the rotation of bands they have playing late night. You really can't beat the great evening sunset views of the bay. This is a fun lively place to grab a few drinks meet some friends and now with a revised menu, the food is great too!
