Blackened fish of the day was good, but the shrimp quesadillas were phenomenal. Awesome lunch.
Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. Excellent scallops and gnocchi. Excellent service as well.
White linen, candles very intimate off season atmosphere. Great food --- especially if you tire of seafood.
Very nice atmosphere. Our waitress, Amy, was very helpful and pleasant. If I ever come back to Key West I will surely stop by and have another tasty meal at this place!
*DINNER IS EXPENSIVE*
I've seen reviews of this place saying that it's better at lunch, and maybe it is so I'm giving it a 3 star but I think based off the dinner I had, it's a 2 star. The GOOD: decent views, decent staff (but they should be educated better on their specials if they're going to have any) and that's about it for the good. The BAD: the food was very sub par even though their menus/photos online show these 5 star looking meals. The flavor isn't really there and I do think the chef(s) could use additional education on cooking seafood. The mussels, shrimp and calamari were fairly chewy and one mussel I could not chew at all. My partner ordered a pasta with chicken, tasted like pasta water with tomato chunks. The waitress noted that this dish was olive oil, basil and tomatoes and "not sure what we expected" but we've had meals like this before at other places with the same exact description and it actually had flavor. We returned this meal and had a mushroom pasta that can be compared to a "mushroom hamburger helper". The decor of the place must look better in the late evening or night because I wasn't a fan of their decor choices or the dusty fake plants hanging down above the tables especially if you're going to charge $28 or $24 for a pasta dish. I personally won't be going back here but if you don't mind the things I've mentioned above, give it a shot.
Incredible food & presentation!
By far the most outstanding food we found on Key West. Lovely open interior.
We chose to sit at the bar and appreciated Nicole's personal suggestions and service. We both were privileged to enjoy the wonderful presentation and marvelous flavor of the " Island Shrimp and Crab Cake " appetizer.
My wife followed with the incredible " Tuna Tartare". I chose the evening special of " Red Snapper " which proved truly to be the best I have ever enjoyed.
Chef Brendan Orr personally visited to ensure our satisfaction which added to the very special feeling we will always have for the Roof Top Cafe.
Beautiful place great outdoor seating with a view of downtown very good food.. huge wine list good service definitely would go back.
We love this place it's kind of out of the way and is it really crowded our bartender Lisa was amazing. She was very friendly professional and knowledgeable about her craft. She made several recommendations to us when we told her we were heading up to Key Largo. The food as always was delicious. We've been here three or four times now and is one of I'll go to places to eat when visiting Mallory Square
This was an excellent choice for our last evening in Key West. We went to see the sunset from Mallory Square and then we wanted to find a place that was within walking distance, pet friendly & romantic. No pressure there! Well, it turned out that the Rooftop Cafe was the perfect solution. They were very kind about our small dog joining us. We had a very lovely table up on the deck. Our waitress, Nicole, was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Our meals were definitely the highlight, though. Both our choices were amazing, so well put together. We also enjoyed sharing a delicious dessert. All in all, it was the perfect place to dine on our last night in Key West!
My brother lived in KW for about a decade, and Rooftop is one of the 'fair weather' places that he and his local friends liked to gather to have a light diner, seated outside at a table that let's you see the street and the sunset, and celebrate the end of the day.
When we came to town, which is once or twice each year, we would head to Rooftop for dinner (as long as the weather forecast was good, which was most of the time). Both the street view and the sunset view were very interesting. As sunset occurs, the place breaks out in a loud round of applause.
Its not a large place so we had to get there an hour or so early in order to get a good table if we were not able to get a good table, we headed elsewhere.
The atmosphere is key to Rooftop. Drinks were good, service was good too (not all that stellar, but good - it is a fairly small, packed place!), and the food we had was typically very good too.
My bro guided us towards sandwiches, conch fritters, and salads here and we were never disappointed with his guidance.
Friendly staff. GREAT atmosphere. Good food and drink. Pricey - but this is KW! Will visit again.
