A hidden gem in Provo. Burger was cooked just right and the fries were nice and crispy. A snapshot of the good Ole days. Cash only.

Some places don't ever change, and this is one of them. That's a good thing in the case of Ripples. They do things their way: closing on Monday, only staying open until 6 pm, and only accepting cash. The drive in fare is simple, but delicious. I think their fries are some of the best I've ever had, and their fresh limes really hit the spot when you need something refreshing because they're made from just simple sugar, limes and seltzer--not 7 up or Sprite like most places that ruins the flavor. Their normal burgers are more of a thinner In-n-out kind of style so I like to get at least a double cheese burger when I'm really hungry.

The place has been open since 1955, so that should tell you a little about it. The burgers are tasty. I understand they get there meat ground fresh daily from Day's Market next door, and that the grind is all the steak and roast trim. It makes for good beef. The bun is kind of plain. They could have a better bun, and it would make for an overall better burger. Shakes are tasty and fries are cut in house. Bathrooms don't work, and they only take cash. Had those two things been different, probably all five stars. Their business hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11-6 (or whenever they run out of meat, which ever is first)

I've come here many times over the past couple decades. I give it a solid 3 stars. It's better than a fast food chain burger, but not by a lot. I ate here again today, the fries were soggy, the bun was dry, and the price was a little steep for the quality. The lime ricky was tasty! Overall, I like the food, but I'll wait another year or so before I come back.

I've been patronizing Ripple's Drive Inn since 1998, and I've seen what happened to this particular drive inn restaurant that went downhill.
Recently, I ordered fish & chips to go.
It's overpriced for what it is. It costs over $12 including tax, yet this restaurant copped out with their cheap and poorly cooked fried halibut that is actually SMALL in portion compared to the competitors whose fish and chips recipe is actually well-portioned including fried halibut.
The cooked fish is overfried to the point of burnt. It came with French fries that is ironically the biggest portion that makes the set of three fish pieces look small.
I had ordered french fries as a standalone menu choice for quick lunch before, but I noticed that the fries taste a little soppy and perhaps overfried. Maybe that's their way.
It matters not that this shop is Mom and Pop type. It's definitely divey and it's an eye sore. It's like they haven't bothered to update, and are willing to keep operating until this shop falls apart due to maintenance and aesthetic issues.
I understand the expense of rebuilding/refurbishing the independent restaurant shop, including the overhead cost. However, they copped out by serving the lamer version of fish and chips that is deeply disappointing.
I also had ordered the fish sandwich for lunch before, and it's a slap-dash process not unlike the current McDonald's. Bland-tasting for what it is.
It's impressive that Ripple's Drive Inn is in the business for six decades, but the current quality of cooking and processing by the husband-and-wife team is almost deplorable, judging their output while overcharging for small portions that are overcooked and bland.
If you doubt me, order fish and chips while paying over $12, and see if you will leave satisfied.
I think it's time that this shop should either be bought out by someone more knowledgeable and competent to update and improve the menu, or shut down for its poor quality of food production output and run-down (divey) building look due to the cheap nature of the operator-owner team.
I enjoyed the fries with fry sauce, but I was so disappointed by the wretched quality of the fish and chips that this shop deserves one star, even with some understanding that it's an independent restaurant.
But, refusal to improve the menu due to customer complaints means bad word of mouth, and the shop should have closed a long time ago rather than drag out its life trying to earn profit by ripping off the customers by overcharging for laughably cheap grocery store-brand output.response / report this review -

Probably one of the best burgers around! My black raspberry was amazing as well. Defiantly would recommend this place to anyone. They have a pretty basic menu with amazing made-to-order food. Fries onion rings shakes and burgers, come here and you will leave happy. Pretty cheap to if you ask me.

Its the people that make this place great! Todd, and company(wife) are AWESOME! It doesnt hurt that the food cant be beat! Try anything, and you will be pleased! The fries are my personal favorite!
