It is a nice information center. During primetime hours the building is open and they have a ranger there who can answer questions and suggest good hikes. The building also has a little store with some supplies you might need for a day hike, maps, state park T-shirts, and snacks. The building also has bathrooms and a bulletin board that is outside with a map and additional info on it so that you can see a map even if the building is closed. This info center is a good jumping off point for a few nice hikes. There is a trail to Pine Meadow lake and also a trail to Torne Mountain. There are hikes of all difficulty levels as well which is great if you want a casual stroll or if you want a strenuous hike.

This center is only opened on the weekends and during holidays. I am okay with that but restrooms should be available to people at all times. Parking space is okay but it fills up quickly. No drinking water available. You can only purchase it from the vending machines.

A nice easy to get to entry point for Harriman hiking. The easiest trails take you to Pine Meadow lake, which is very pretty. This parking lot is small, and cars end up parking along the road for almost a mile from the trailheadso be prepared for some extra distance up front.

Several trails accessible from here of varying difficulties. The park is free and never closes but the bathrooms/VC is only open weekends. You should buy a trail map from them and ask for suggestions. Small parking lot but you can also park on the shoulder. Leashed dogs are allowed. Best time to hike the Reeves Brook trail is after a good rain. When it's dry head up to the Ramapo torne for great views.

Trail head for several routes around pine Meadow Lake in harriman state park. Gorgeous trails, pretty well stocked gift shop during season.

Arrived early (7:30am) and found a spot in the lot. The park ranger said it can get filled quickly so early is best. Since this was my first time, I chose an "easy" trail. The red square on a white background. There were inclined, lots of rocks to negotiate but no scrambling or crawling. The time of year was also super, cool in the morning and by 1:30pm, it was about 60°. Perfect for hiking. I wore layers and this too made my walk extra enjoyable. The park itself is very clean and visitors are encouraged to use the park waste bins before and after a hike. The brook was another feature I loved and the water was bone chillingly cold. I am planning to come back and try some of the other trails. Can't wait!

Growing up in Bergen County, and having such a beautifully maintained state park so close has been a blessing all my life. I recently moved back from Chicago (where it is flat) and took a hike yesterday with some childhood friends.. It was stunning. The paths were clean and well defined, and other hikers were few and far between because the season is chilling down. This access point is a great place to begin; it has several paths leading from it. Anything you carry in, please carry out!

Great spot to start a hike, but when the weather is nice, you have to arrive early to get a spot in the small parking lot. Roadside parking is not allowed in Harriman, but near this information center, it seems to be tolerated (i would recommend only parking in official parking areas in the rest of the park!)
