My favorite restaurant in Sandusky, hands down. The chef and owner, Jamie, has a passion and precision for what he does and truly takes pride in his work -- both a rare find in restaurant dining anymore, and a dynamic combo leading to a fantastic dining experience. I love the attention to detail, roses on each table add a simple, delicate touch, and I can't say enough how much I APPRECIATE being able to eat my dinner on the actual tablecloths, not a tablecloth with paper over top. (What fine dining should be!) I have yet to have a meal where Jamie hasn't personally come to check on us to make sure that we are satisfied with our food. The wait can be longer at times, but good things come to those who wait ;). This isn't your typical chain restaurant. I will, of course, be back! :)
This was an awesome little hide away restaurant I can't wait to bring my wife to. Jamie is a first class chef/owner. The thought and detail that go into his food preparation from the homemade salad dressing and bread to the amazing cuts of meat are unsurpassed. My buddy and I enjoyed talking to him as he came around to check on our meal. If you want a special dining experience, this is one of the best I've ever had.
Excellent place for top notch food and service. Steaks were cooked to perfect temperature. Crab cakes were excellent and loaded with crab meat. Every thing is made from scratch. If you want a great meal go here, extremely friendly and professional staff.
Great place for a wonderful meal. Service was the best we've had in 10 years!! Thank you Rochelle!! Chef came out numerous times to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Be prepared to stay awhile and spend a bit more money. It is well worth it though. Even brought cake to celebrate birthdays, don't see that much anymore.
Unbelievable!! This place is amazing!! James, the owner/chef nails it! We were in no hurry and truly had one of the best meals and best time ever. James came out to check on us often and talked to us about the various dishes (questions we had). The blue cheese dressing is amazing, as was the dinner salad, rock shrimp special and thick cut rib eye. He LOVES what he does and it shows. We watched two groups walk out because they waited at the door for a couple of minutes - I wanted to run up to them and tell them it will be the best meal they have ever had! Can't wait to go back.
If you come here expecting a chain steakhouse, in and out, $30 meal with 20 teenage employees running all over the place, you will be highly disappointed. But if you come here expecting a small, fine dining, made to order, full wine list, handmade cocktails, homemade desserts, world-class steaks and chops, with attention to quality and detail served by the chef and waitress in an intimate setting, you will have a memorable experience that is paralleled by few establishments in food districts of larger cities. Jamie and Raquel did a wonderful job of capping off a weekend with family. We will definitely be back.
Unexpected gem! We read other reviews and decided to give it a try. I became apprehensive at first, but I'm so glad I followed my gut and the other reviews! Jaime is a fantastic chef. We were lucky to be there at a slow time so we were able to meet him and discuss fine dining with him. Our server Raquelle was amazing and guided our decisions perfectly. Yes, it is fine dining. So you will pay for very high quality fresh food--and you won't regret it!
The curbside appeal of the restaurant and entrance definitely caused us to be weary. When we were stead we were the only ones in the restaurant which also made us weary. However, the food was EXCELLENT! A bit of a strange obiance due to the outside appeal but once you're seated and get comfortable, the food is great and it's a nice upscale place.
Great restaurant! All six of us enjoyed our dinners - ribs, ribeye steaks, and the pork chop special. The food preparation was a little slow, and the entrees are expensive, but that is fitting for the quality. The attention to detail in all aspects was wonderful (I'm including a couple of photos, but I lost a nice one without knowing it because my cell battery died), and the portions are extremely generous. Our server was friendly, thoughtful, made some excellent suggestions (including a couple of wine pairings), and overall took great care of us. We will definitely keep this place in mind for future trips to Cedar Point.
Quaint place with pricy, fairly decent food. This last visit we waited for nearly a half an hour after our reservation, even when there were empty tables the entire time. I think there were staffing issues because it seemed everything was behind. Even the owners started helping out, which tells you something. Got my order wrong, but in the end I was still happy with the place because they made it right before we left without us having to even complain.
Definitely a little gem. Food was outstanding, service was wonderful, and the chef makes sure your steak is perfect. I recommend the "caveman" style to cook your steak and sweat potato for your side. While we were there we also heard a few take out orders and it seems like they definitely go the extra mile to make your experience perfect.
