Great experience, Justin was very helpful. I am new to the area and a novice when it comes to guns. They were patient and knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. They provided information on how to obtain a gun permit as well as information I will need to carry a concealed weapon legally here in Memphis. I will be signing up for one of their Saturday classes.

Ps I never give 5 stars. Everyone had room for improvement :)

I've taken several classes at rangemaster and consider the quality of instruction to be very good. They bring excellent instructors with well-deserved national reputations. I have only a little experience with gun stores and ranges, but their facilities seem fine and are comparable to others I have visited.

The folks who work there are friendly, but at times can be a little rough around the edges. They are strong advocates for their brand of politics, which predictably focuses on second amendment rights but extends to party.

The shop has a strong "guy" feel to it, but they've been working on reaching out to women, including offering classes taught by women specifically for women.

The owner occasionally sends out e-newsletters and emails related to crime, upcoming classes, political matters (e.g., the "guns in bars" law that was recently passed in Tennessee), and guns. They are unusually informative and fact-based.

For those reviewers bashing this place, take a step back. This is a training facility. They do a good job keeping their site updated with ongoing and upcoming classes. But if you took any class there you would know that one of the first things they tell you is "call before you come." Its a simple phone call to ensure the lanes are available.

In addition to training they do have a store that is moderately stocked with accessories and ammo. If you are there to practice they will sell you ammo. If you are just looking to purchase ammo for your own stockpile, then go to another store. They need to keep the ammo they have on hand for students and those wanting to get some range time in.

I took the Beginners Class to receive my permit, everything was fine at first, until I was told that I wouldn't be receiving my certificate because I didn't get at least I think a 79% on the (shooting) target practice, the percentage that I reached was a 54 or 56%, the instructor told me he thought I knew or that the other staff members told me about it, I was not informed about this at allthat you had to pass the shooting-target-practice, I mean after-all it is a beginners class and they also wouldn't let me use my own personal gun(380 automatic), in so many words it was to small but on the description of the class it said that you could use your own gun or there'sbut I guess not, needless to say if I knew I would have to pass the shooting-target-practice, I wouldn't have been so eager to pay my $99.00!

Rangemaster is first and foremost a training facility and school, offering a variety of classes. They are secondarily a public range and a small pro-shop for those using their range and/or taking classes. People go out of their way to complain more than compliment so I thought I would add my perspective. Tom Givens (owner of Rangemaster) is a nationally-known firearms instructor and that is the largest business point for Rangemaster. I think too many people look at Rangemaster as a "gun store" or an "indoor range" and those are actually a very small part of Rangemaster's business, as some others can attest with their issues using the range on lots of visits.

I took their 2-day Combative Pistol class and it is a superb class for anyone serious about carrying a firearm as a life-saving tool. I drove 300 miles to the class and would do it again, and plan to.

I was taking my teenage son shooting and didn't want to go to an outdoor range or drive 45 minutes to Range USA. I checked the Range Master website for operating hours and to see if there was a class taking place that may hinder our range time. The website listed some classes but not on the day we were going, so we headed that way. When we got there the guy behind the counter told us that we couldn't have a lane because a class was going to start in 45 minutes. When I asked why it wasn't listed on the website he said rudely, "I don't do the website." I asked if we could maybe shoot for half an hour since there was a mix-up and we could be done before the class started. He insisted that we could not shoot for any amount of time, and turned around to talk to a co-worker.
Now, as a former law enforcement officer, certified firearms instructor, and management professional, I would have to say that this guy is one of the rudest employees I've dealt with. I don't know if he owns the place or not, but he certainly leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service. As a consumer I exercised my choice to go to another range (Range USA) where the employees have always made us feel welcome. My first visit to RM will be my last, not out of spite, but out of self-respect.
