Pizza spot in downtown Toledo serving up deep dish pizza. I stop by one afternoon to take advantage of their lunch special, pizza and a salad for 8 bucks! Not bad! Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the pizza. It definitely wasn't the best deep dish I've had. I didn't even finish the pizza, nor did I get it to go. That's unheard of!! Pizza is my most favorite food. I never leave pizza on a plate. I did however love the salad. It was fresh and crisp! The salad dressing was also flavorful. I would come back just for the salad. The pizza not so much. The customer service was a little shoddy too I wasn't greeted at all when I came in. I just kinda walked around till I was approached. That needs a little more attention as well. Would I return for sure? Nope. Too many good pizza spots in the city if you ask me.
I've been here several times and each time the pizza and wings where great😘they have a variety of stuff so next time I'm a try something different
Good food and good service. Not particularly memorable, but great to meet up with friends to split some pizza and grab a beer. They offer a good variety on tap. Casual atmosphere. The pizza does not disappoint! We prefer the deep dish. They also offer salads and pizza alternatives. Good appetizers.
Always enjoy Pizza Papalis when we get the chance. This time could have been better. Ordered pepperoni/mushroom, got just pepperoni and very few of those to boot. Some slices had four pieces of pepperoni, others had absolutely none. I've come to expect better from them, so this time was disappointing, however, we will be back.
Group of 10 waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food! Two pizzas where made incorrectly, and we didn't want to wait for them to be remade. The food we did get was good but it took forever.
This pizza is amazing. I've only had the deep dish from here, but honestly is there any other kind? My boyfriend constantly talks about Chicago's Giordano's deep dish so I brought him here. He said it's exactly the same and we save the 4 hour train ride to gets the amazing deep dish.
Wow, talk about a great deep dish pizza. The best I've had outside of Chicago. On the downside, the deep dish takes about 40 mins (our server gave us a head's up). It's worth it though. Also the location downtown right beside the Mudhens stadium is great.
We got half and half pizza; All Four of us got sick off their pizza! First: It Is over priced in My Opinion-- $40.00 for a pizza! That Better be the best Pizza I have ever tasted! Second: I could see past this price if it was the best Pizza Ever; however, it is Not. Third: I would also not be bothered if one or even Two people from our group got sick. The Fact of the Matter Is: All Four of us got sick, we are never going back. No need to try and make it right by offering another pizza-- it did not go down well the first time.
A little background: pizza is my thing. Weeks in advance of any traveling, I am scoping out the best pizza joints in my destination area, and make it a point to hit up the top spots. I've tried Chicago's finest (Giordano's), and Jersey's best. Here's how PizzaPapalis ranks:
For a deep dish, this is good stuff. The crust had the snap you'd expect, wasn't soggy whatsoever, and had good flavor. The cheese was adequate in flavor and quantity, but not overwhelming. That's not a compliment - I like it when the cheese is overwhelming, especially for deep dish. The sauce is non-descript: not notable, but not a detractor.
This is no Giordano's. Period. It's a poor man's deep dish: no more, no less. It won't blow your mind, but you won't leave feeling cheated either. If you're in Toledo, and after a legit deep-dish, this is your place! If you're in Toledo and after the best pizza, go to Gino's on Monroe in Sylvania.
Prices are reasonable for deep dish, but steep compared to most other pizza joints in town. The facility is nice, the restrooms are clean, and the staff are polite and prompt. If you come with low expectations, you'll be pleasantly surprised; if you come looking for world class deep-dish, you'll leave pretty bummed.
Absolutely amazing pizza and great service. Place can be a little crowded but when you have food like this that can be expected. If you want amazing deep dish pizza this is where you go in Toledo
Best Chicago style deep dish east of Chicago. Great beer list and great service! Love this place anytime I'm in Toledo.
Simply Great! - Booked their party room, which was extremely reasonably priced, and very simple to book. They allowed us to increase the number of guests even up to the day before! PizzaPapalis allowed us to get into the room an hour early to set up, but they had done all of the chair and table set up already! This was a surprise party and the staff was very helpful in keeping the surprise by being in on it. The food was so tasty, plentiful, and again very reasonably priced! All of the guests complimented on the food and many said they would return! There is a private bar in the party room so you don't have to fight the crowd downstairs in the main dining area, which is super convenient. The service was AWESOME!!! We had 2 dedicated bartenders/servers in the party room (which was enough for our party of 40), and they were constantly bringing out fresh food, refilling drinks, getting us anything we needed, and cleaning as the party was in progress! If you're having a party/small get together LOOK THEIR WAY! -- Satisfied Customers!
Best deep dish pizza in town! My kids had a blast making their own pizza. They also were able to watch them making pizzas from above, sitting up stairs at the corner table. It does take longer than a normal pizza, but it's worth the wait. They've created a man that can no longer look at any other pizza the same.
