The price is low and the requirements are easy too. But then the fact the paperwork is sloppy and the car is on its last leg. The impala I drove only had the option to either have high beams on or nothing. The has guage was all over the place, the car was falling apart (buttons missing, console hanging off, hard to roll windows up after rolling them down and can only lock car from front passenger door) and even worst when I got the car it had a hennesy bottle, empty cigarette box and trash under the seats.
Phoenix car rental is shady! They are rude! The office is dirty and so are the people working there! The van they rented me smelt like weed covered with an air freshener! The visor was broke, the dash broken up held back together with a glue stick from a glue gun, the car had transmission issue and the front end clunked when we hit holes in the road. We rented once before from PHX Car Rental because we didn't have a credit card and they took cash. $250. Deposit. They deduct from your deposit. A $49.00/day rental plus $16./day insurance hidden fees they don't tell you about. Rented Thanksgiving day and was to return the following day by 1pm. In town driving so they don't charge mileage. What was to be a rental for a day for us under $70. Turned into taking out whole deposit. $185. They kept! Thanksgiving cost us $250. And we stayed in town! Take my advice and others that have reviewed. Do NOT Rent from Phoenix Car Rental! Take Lyft or Uber! You'll save money! Crooked crooks is what they are! This place should be shut down! Bad reputation!
PRICES ARE DOUBLE WHATEVER THE OWNER "ED" TELLS YOU THEY ARE. I RENTED A P.O.S. 2006 CHEVY IMPALA WHICH HAD OVER 174,000 MILES! THE ONLY REASON THIS COMPANY IS PROFITABLE IS BECAUSE THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE 1 IN 3 ADULTS IN THE U.S. THAT DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD. EVEN THOUGH ALL THE BIG NAMES IN THE CAR RENTAL BUSINESS ACCEPT DEBIT CARDS OVER THE INTERNET TO RESERVE AND CONFIRM YOUR RENTAL CAR RESERVATION---THESE COMPANIES, SUCH AS: HERTZ-ALAMO-ENTERPRISE-AVIS-THRIFTY-DOLLAR-FIREFLY-BUDGET, ET CETERA, DO NOT LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOU MUST HAVE A CREDIT CARD, AND YOU MUST HAVE BETWEEN $200-$600 AVAILABLE ON A CREDIT CARD.
I called to rent a car to see if they could beat the price at Hertz rental and they were 100 dollars more. When I mentioned the price I could get with Hertz the guy was very rude to me, I had more questions for him, but he hung up on me before I could even ask them. I would not recommend them, and I would give less than 1 star if it were an option!
The truck rented stalled right after I pulled out of their lot. They did come however to replace the battery and didn't have a problem after that. The rate was not discounted after having that issue. The mileage wasn't written on the bill and after returning the cruck (yeah cruck! It was stinky all beat up couldn't open all the doors) they charged me an additional out of the park figure. Even though the mileage wasn't written on the bill prior to me leaving the facility and they told me as long as I stayed local it was unlimited..total rip off. They know exactly what they are doing..they rent to folks who can't or don't go to the real rental lots. It's much easier to rent from them. I know I won't ever go back there and would never recommend them to my worst enemy.
Minivan had over 180,000 miles on it and needs new tie rods. Made all kinds of noises, but the AC worked. That's about the only good. Daily fee is $39.95 but by the time they add in all of their "fees and taxes" it's more like $70 a day.
Checking the car out was an easy process, I was helped out by a young man. Quick and professional. However, when I called to ask what the process was like, or what I was to do If i wanted to extended a day; i had an a man yelling at me over the phone. I remained calm over the phone but he was quite upset about me "bringing HIS car in late" I told him "it's not late yet, i was calling to ask what the price was ? Or was it deducted from the deposit?" To which he just hung up on me. I tried calling back and he answer "quit calling me. I have other calls" i ended up NOT keeping the car any longer than my contract. But seriously the guy is living up to his reviews on line. Look else where if you're not willing to put up with a nasty attitude even though the conversation is about your transaction.
This Phoenix car rental agency doesn't even deserve the 1-star. Holy heck the guy over the phone gave the worst customer service I've EVER experienced.
Based on their website, I was confident this was the place I wanted to rent a car from (rents to under age 25, decent $ fees, drop far off at airport).
I experienced a different animal over the phone. Forced to try to reserve over the phone because they don't offer online booking (claim this is so they can provide quality personal service, HA).
Took me several tries to get a human to respond. It was like they clicked the button after 2 or 3 rings. When he did pick up, he abruptly put me on hold 3 different times, then told me he was too busy for me to ask questions, then hung up the phone on me.
Against my better judgment, I called back, he told me he didn't want my business, and he hung up again. Unbelievable.
All I wanted to do was say "hey I need a car on Sunday and here is my money." That's what I got. Honestly glad that happened because now I've seen all these reviews talking about their broken down cars and I see I'm one of many who has experienced this awful customer service.
Some Phoenix news agency seriously needs to investigate this place.
Very horrible customer service! I was there yesterday panicking with my sister. Our parents got stuck in California and we needed a car asap. He was going to charge us $560 for one day for only 200miles after that it would cost us more. We also had to provide an $850 deposit. Because we were desperate we said okay. He then gave us two options in vehicles. Both cars were super old and by old i mean it looked like they were made in the early 2000's. one of the cars even said "check oil engine". We informed him about this and he said someone didn't put the cap on the right however I have experience with cars myself and I know that wasn't the situation. We asked for a better car and better year because under these weather conditions we want to make sure we wouldn't get stuck like my parents did. He told us it would cost us near $2,000, all together. Believe it or not we agreed until he took my card and told me my chip isn't working and he wouldn't take my other card and said he would need cash instead. That was the point where I told my sister let's go. He's ripping us off. Which was completely true! We went to enterprise and actually got a new 2015 mini van with unlimited mileage all for under $200. Please do not go here. The gentleman working at the counter was so hostile and definitely did not care about our situation nor was he willing to help. He just wants to screw people out of their money. Super upset.
Worst customer service ever at this place. I was in need of a car and called for a quote but the guy was so rude over the phone and short. Got there they didn't even ask for proof of insurance or license. I didn't pay for it but I was driving the car. Terribly shady and would never go back or recommend. The only nice person there was the service guy who took my keys. He had a smile and said have a good day. Couldn't get more than two words out of the people inside. I'm non confrontational and didn't say anything but couldn't let this go. Never did I think I would be renting a car from such a crappy establishment let alone getting the worst service. Don't they want business and money? Totally not the way to go about it. I'm not one to write trashing reviews of businesses but this gave me so much stress I had to say something.
Wish there was a NEGATIVE ZERO star!! This is THE rudest, unprofessional, over priced "so called" business!!
Hung up on me twice while in mid-sentence when I called back his response was, "Look I take over 100 calls a day I don't have time to chit chat with you! There will be no politness here! No please, thank you, just a car! So either get a car or don't!" ("Click" AGAIN!)
Guess it's considered chit chat to ask their rates!!
Don't walk away from here, RUN!!!!
Absolute frauds!! The car they gave me smelt of cigarettes and I hate that smell. On top of that the A/C for the car didn't even work and was constantly blowing hot air. I had returned the car back without a scratch. After returning it back to them I asked when would my $350 deposit be refunded and Ron at the desk told me the same day. Later that day there had only been a $30 refund to my account and it's been a week and nothing has been refunded so far. I called them up and they told me to stop calling them. These guys are absolute frauds. Please do not do business with them. They are crooks!
I don't necessarily dislike the place but I do question some of their practices. I also very much appreciate their no questions asked policy when renting to persons like myself with no credit card.
When you really need to rent a car and can't anywhere else, they are definitely the people to call. However, expect to pay for it. If you rent from Phoenix Car Rental you will most likely leave a deposit of $250.00. Expect to kiss that goodbye. I rented an economy style rattle trap that gave me no difficulties and was good on gas. Mind you it gave me no difficulties but it also gave me no joy.
The rental amount was quoted at either $29.95 or 39.95 a day I don't remember, and I believe $16.95 a day for insurance. I rented it for three days and then extended out an additional two days. The two additional days I had to be into the lot by a set time to pay an additional $60.00 per day. So in total my 5 day rental cost me $74.00 a day or $360.00 for five days. They did actually give me $11.00 back. So in reality they did nothing wrong. I can't fault them for my gullibility. They promised nothing they didn't deliver. I just didn't do the math on the taxes and fees and being unaware of this it did make it seem as if they were cheating me. I got what I agreed to, nothing more nothing less.
I didn't like the car they rented me, but I wasn't held at gun point and forced to take it either. And I cannot fault them for not quoting the price including taxes and fees. Their abrupt nature is distasteful but with the grief they get from customers, maybe now I understand it a little more.
The people here were rude as hell from the start in person and over the phone, mostly referring to the short chubby guy who you can tell obviously hates his life. They were short and didn't explain anything in full at all. They told me one price and charged me more than what was said and what was written on paper. When I called to ask why I was overcharged, again, they were short and rude, and at the end said, "We don't want your business anyway." Who says that? The second time I called, they hung up on me. Who does that? Plus my car had multiple lights come on the dashboard including check engine and low tire pressure. Again, they were no help with that either. After the fact, I found out one my friends also had a negative experience with them, and they decided to steal her sunglasses. Cool right? When you call, you'll know what I am talking about, and when you go in person you'll know the chubby guy I'm talking about. If you decide to choose them, have fun!
