My husband and I enjoyed a delicious German dinner with excellent service by Chad and Andy. We were pleasantly surprised to see the owners enjoying dinner at the same time as it was the off season, late and only three tables were seated. My husband is a past pro skier and couldn’t resist meeting the world renown Pepi! Our server politely introduced us to Pepi while his wife was busy talking to the hostess at their table. I was astonished by her over the top rude reaction to us being introduced and sitting quickly to say hello. Apparently Pepi’s wife is a bitter lady and is “allergic to that behavior”. I’d highly recommend the restaurant for the authentic food and Pepi as he was so, so friendly. But be warned, his wife lacks customer service. To top it off, we were on our honeymoon and she really put a damper on that lovely dining experience!

The food was delicious and authentic. The thing I liked most about the restaurant was the service. The hostess Mikayla was accomadating and assisted us in picture taking. She was so kind and even helped in trouble shooting with my camera/phone issue. With her persistence we accomplished our issue. The waitress was swift and brought us our food quickly. The bus help kept the water glass full and kept the table clean. The food was delicious but the service outstanding. The old saying the "customer is the king" holds true here. If you ever go there look for Mikayla and she'll treat you like royalty.

Experience - Pepi's Bar & Restaurant is a Austrian Style Restaurant with a slight American twist. The host was fairly accommodating but it did seem a bit unwelcoming especially with our family being young and large (2AD 5, 2, 5mo.) The waiter laid a big plastic tablecloth down under our daughters' chair when we sat on the patio, which was the first time anyone has done that in any restaurant I have been in. This is why the point reduction. It's an outdoor patio. Use a broom and mop at the end of the day. I understand the logistics but it is a bad practice in regards to customer relations.

Ambience - I can't speak to peak evening hours or ski season but when we went in the summer there was ample space and no wait. The patio was enjoyable with the mountain views and fresh air. The interior has a europeanesque feel to it and wood floors and photos all over the walls.

Staff - The staff was knowledgeable but not extremely accommodating. The more I ordered the more he must have seen the tip opportunity grow because the service changed after the first drinks were ordered.

Amenities - Pepi's is an attractive restaurant with a covered deck, tables, and a full bar. Great for couples individuals, and small groups. Based on our experience maybe not a great family location choice though they do have high chairs.

Value - Pepi's is a good value for the food and dining experience. Expect to spend between $25 to $50 if you are hungry and want a drink.

Panda Power Meal - The Hungarian Goulash Soup is a great starter and a high recommendation. Try the Wiener Schnitzel and a good glass of wine or hefty beer. My Tip=%12

I would give no stars if possible. Twice tried to visit here. First attempt led to an unwelcome vibe while walking to the entrance and again a few days later. This time, the hostess quickly became unfriendly when trying to explain guests can either sit in an area of appetizer orders only or sit in another area for dinner. She had to know what would be order to find a table (which there were plenty empty) and to choose from one menu. Having no idea what I wanted before I even saw the menu, she showed little patience. It was loud with a musician literally 3 few feet from us. I've never heard of such a thing of not being able to order an appetizer with dinner and decided to go elsewhere.

Tried having an appetizer and my girlfriend an entree. Apparently you can't have both on the patio even though they were 98% vacant. Don't think they care anyways judging how the hostess responded. Need to learn customer service considering there are about 1000 other options in Vail Village!

Very tasty fare in a pleasant outside deck atmosphere for lunch. Moderate price with an authentic Austrian flavor. Pleasant wait staff who were very attentive.

My husband and I and another couple had lunch on the patio recently. The patio was a nice patio with great warmth (as it was a cold day). The big problem was the food especially for the price. The food was horrible. We were brought rolls to start which didn't even come warm, but mostly they were bad because they were hard and seemed old. Three of us had salads that had minimal ingredients and minimal "add chicken". They were the size of a small side salads. One of us got the panini which came with fruit. It was very minimal food again for a hefty price; and unfortunately came with a nice long blonde hair on it :/. These four small entrees took over 30 minutes to come to our table which seemed odd since there was only one other table on the patio and only a couple inside. We read before going this place had decent reviews, but honestly the food was awful and way overpriced. We also ate at Bully Ranch and Mountain Standard which we highly recommend over this place. Mountain Standard is pricier, so overall Bully Ranch had the best food and price ( we got burgers and nachos, but many other things looked good).

This is not a $$ restaurant; it's easily $$$. The fact is Pepi's is crowded, loud, service is rather aloof, kitchen slow (45 min. From salad to entree), and the table-side preparation antics are rediculous. Nobody at our table raved about the food, and my Weiner Schnitzel was quite ordinary, though it was generous in portion. Guide opinions aside, it appears to me that this place has run its course, and there are many far superior choices one can make for a rewarding dinner out in Vail. At Pepi's, stick to the bar.

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. I had the pork shank it was delicious. I do think my wife had the best of meals with the shuffle gnocchi.

Its so nice to eat outside here. I always end up taking off my jacket because of the rich sun exposure and lack of wind in this location. The story of Pepi is very interesting also. He still lives upstairs!

The German based food and drinks are fantastic.
