I dream of the food I have eaten during my trips to perlz. I always get the gumbo which is some of the best I've had in town. Some of the largest and most appetizing raw oysters to go along with that. Something they don't really shove in your face is the fact they brew some of the beer they serve and it's really good, especially the brown ale.

During our trip we asked a waiter at another restaurant for a good local place. He recommended this place. It was simply the best. We went for happy hour. We had 3 dozen raw, 2 orders of fried, and a bowl of soup. We walked out stuffed and happy. Our waitress Shannon was amazing. She is very knowledgeable about oysters and the seafood. The clam chowder is the best I have ever eaten. We had clams till the very last bite. If you come to Charleston you must make this a place to eat.

Love this place. Come here every time I visit Charleston. Probably the best happy hour in town. Just watching the oyster shuckers is kind of amazing. Try the southern fried oysters, spicy poke, and more. Great scotch selection as well, boys.

Pearlz has the cheapest oysters I have seen in Charleston so far. Only half the price of other places you hear about.
The selection of oysters are just great. I love the fact that they give you extra horseradish with the cocktail sauce!
Fish and chips are good too. Definitely going to go for the second time in our 2 day trip in Charleston.response / report this review -

Jessica was absolutely Great. She got very busy but was able to take time to serve us wonderfully. Kept her composure very well under tremendous stress. This lady is certainly a keeper and an asset without a doubt. We will be back.Thanks Celeste Gunter

Great customer service from the hostess, bartender, and cook opening our oyster. Went during happy hour. Rockefeller was extremely tasty, steamed oysters were good, and fried were okay. With those items and two alcoholic drinks we spent 50. Nice place for happy hour and to chill.

Really good spot to cool out after a long day of sight seeing near the waterfront park. The staff were SUPER nice at the bar. But the one bartender was kind of pulled in multiple directions. So I could tell they were struggling to keep up with bar service as many were constantly preparing the oyster shooters, which my companions said were excellent.
Not easy parking nearby. But if already there for ghost tours or city market visit, definitely nearby.
Highly recommend the crab dip. That was some of the best food I've eaten here. The sangria is cheap ($5), sweet but strong. So watch out. It'll sneak up.
I really like this location better than Columbia. A better ambiance and less crowded.response / report this review -

Gluten free menu online not honored.
Fish and chips was american chipsnot french fries.
Calamari done in microwave, mush. Grab dip too.
Scallions and oysters were good.

We didn't try it all, but we wanted to. Everything was so delicious. The raw oysters, shrimp, clams, fish and chips, lobster roll, sangria and cranberry mimosa, amazing. Plus, on the patio, it's dog friendly. We will definitely be back.

Cozy spot in Historic Charleston. Overall, the food was goodnot outstanding -- the fish and shellfish were certainly fresh but overdone with toppings/ingredients (especially the grilled oysters). The service was a bit slow but they made up for it by being personable and kind. I'd recommend Pearlz but with some reservations.

My wife ate nothing but peel and eat shrimp for the 4 days we were in Charleston. Pearlz did not disappoint. I got the oyster/muscle/shrimp platter. I think this meal was about when I topped out on raw bar foods. Not because it was gross, just because I had been eating oysters for three days and then I had an entire platter of them all to myself and all of a sudden they became less desirable. We've all been theremaybe. In any case, great location. Bright, airy, lively, with good service and in the middle of it all with a competitive price tag attached. Such a blast.

I have been wanting to visit Pearlz Oyster Bar for a long time, well it was worth the wait, starting with a great, professional, friendly staff and servers. The food arrived unbelievably fast during happy hour on a Saturday. The food, New England Lobster Roll, Lowcountry Fish & Chips and fried shrimp from the children's menu, all served with really good homemade potato chips! All food was food was cooked to perfection and it seemed to be cooked with care.
The experience was satisfying, the cost for seafood in downtown Charleston SC was quite reasonable with decent portions.
Bottom line, this will be my go to seafood place for downtown Charleston!response / report this review
