Great food but watch out for hasty service and quality during really peak times. Like most traditional Chinese places, it's open during the Holidays! EAT! EAT! EAT! There's a nice pond out back for a good digestive stroll.
It's tucked away from the street so easy to miss. Plentiful parking and it's in a strip mall so easy access to other shopping.
Have been here for lunch 2 time now. I have enjoyed both times in regard to the food and ambiance. Getting your ticket picked up can be a bit of challenge but once the food starts arriving it is a very fun experience. Great for groups of 4 or more so you can try an more items. Primary recommendation for lunch would be to go before 1:30, after that, you run the risk of them running out of certain items.
Been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My coworkers always come by for dim sum on a monthly basis for lunch. My family comes here for dim sum breakfast and occasional dinner. The only disappointment is their inventory of fish isn't available. But I suppose that's the burden of only serving only fresh fish, so maintaining that quality means no inventory some times.
Good food but very poor customer service. The servers are very, very rude specially when it comes to Asian-american.
The food selection was great and the price was decent (4 selected dishes for $34). If you dine-in, they would even include a small tasty dessert for each person.
However, there was only one waitress to serve 6 tables at 6:00 PM, which severely delayed our order by almost 30 minutes. Also, the waitress was dishonest and added $7 in addition to the credit card on top of the already-included cash tip!
I asked for gluten free when ordering but apparently they have no idea what that means. Said the order I placed was gluten free but it was not even close. I won't go back again.
This place is a must see! The staff is wonderful and berry helpful. It is a true Chinese restaurant not an American version. The customers are predominately Asian which means a lot. It is not cheap but not expensive either. The food is fresh and the Dim sum is wonderful with over 40+ items to try.
When we got our table there's only 3 menu on the table when there's six of us, I asked Jaime for more menu and he looked at me like why I need more menu and he's rude. The service is EXTREMELY SLOW. They took our order at 11:58 and 1:15 the rest of our order still not complete. At 1:18 and 1:20 pm they told us they ran out the rest of our orderthis is not making any sense. We noticed that they served the Chinese customer better than the non-Chinese. ONE good thing, FRANCISCO is very cordial and helpful. NEVER COMING BACK HERE.
Quite possibly the best dim sum experience I've ever had - on three continents!
Best dim sum I've had in the San Diego area. The food is delicious tastes fresh. The restaurant overlooks a small park area and the ambiance is very nice. I found the service to be quick and attentive.
Food tastes slightly above average as far as Chinese restaurants go in this area. Prices are somewhat high here, atmosphere is nice in a large area. Food came to table faster than expected.
This place was good in its day, but needs a fresh upgrade. Carpet is dirty and place is run down. Food is still good but too expensive for what you get.
We say that when you see a lot of Asian eating in a Chinese restaurant in the US, you'd know that this is a good Chinese restaurant. Every time we came to Pearl, most customers were Asian and many of them actually spoke Chinese. Food at Pearl is authentic Chinese cuisine, for the most part of the menu, it's Cantonese style. (We tried the Peking duck on its menu and it was quite good too!). Food is quite tasty and reasonably priced. I'd say it's one of the best Chinese restaurants in San Diego. The decor of the restaurant is a bit old styled though-- an upgrade of the decor would make the dining experience even more enjoyable.
