I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf, and I chose to take a trip to San Diego and take a lesson to learn - I couldn’t be happier I did! I took a one-on-one lesson and Erik was my instructor. He was so intentional, fun, and very knowledgeable. This wasn’t just a job for him, it was his passion, and that helped me enjoy the lesson all the more. He will make sure you’re up and surfing in no time. I would 100% recommend Pacific Surf School to anyone who may be interested in learning or just getting out there and having a good time.

AWESOME PLACE TO SURF!! Went with my boyfriend today October 7, 2017 for his birthday! Neither one of us had surfed before and our instructor Kevin O. was great!! Super fun guy, made it really easy to learn, and both of us were riding the waves by the end of the 90 minute lesson! Definitely would recommend it for ANYONE wanting to have a blast surfing!! Couldn’t stop smiling and laughing!

Had a great time! They're a great group of friendly guys who gave me the basic tips i needed to get a successful start, and then tailored the rest of the lesson based on my own success or failure at each step along the way. I can't imagine trying to learn to surf without the guidance they provided; i heard it was tough to learn and it was harder than i expected. But after every wave i tried to catch and failed i would get immediate feedback on how to improve from Leo, who knew what i did wrong and helped me get it right the next time.
After just two quick lessons in the mornings over a weekend i went out on my own the second afternoon and managed to pop up and catch a couple waves. It's exhilarating!! And i feel like i learned enough in those 3 hours that next time i am on vacation near the ocean, i can buy or rent a learner board and actually get out and catch some waves with a couple more hours of practice. Worth every bit i paid and then some!
I recommend taking a couple lessons multiple days in a row if you can. Also, book in advance because you can't walk up and join a lesson or purchase rentals due to no-soliciting laws on the beach.response / report this review -

Surfing looks a lot easier than it actually is :) but luckily we were blessed with patient, great and proficient instructor - Anton. We took a private class for two people and had great time trying out a new experience. The waves were perfect, we each got plenty of opportunities to catch them in our 90 minute session. Anton went over the basics on the sand and shortly after we were in the water. Definitely were very happy with our choice of surf school, it was a great time!

I signed up 2 of our kids, 14 & 16. Their instructor was Anton. His attitude was awesome and you could tell he has done it for awhile. He was very patient and both the kids got up but most importantly, all 4 of us had a great time. I would highly recommend it if you are thinking about it. If my back wasn't bad then I would definitely done it as well. We bought the photo package and the photos turned out great. Thanks PB Surf School.

I took a semi-private lesson with Pacific Surf School. Our little group had a mix of experience/skill levels and I wasn't sure how it would all be juggled. Anton (our surf instructor) used his knowledge of reading the sets and stellar body surfing skills to switch back and forth between whitewash and green waves. He made sure we all caught some great waves and kept a relaxed attitude the entire time!

Awesome experience with Pacific Surf School!!
From booking the lessons to the actual hands on instructions, the whole experience was top notch! My two young boys had Adam Smith as their instructor, and they loved him!! He was fantastic with handling both of them on the sand and in the water (which is no easy task for two brothers that like to fight constantly). They both loved their lesson and begged to come back for another one. I would highly recommend Adam and Pacific Surf School!!response / report this review -

I went with my two 11 year old daughter's. ANTON was our instructor and he was by far the coolest most down to earth person I have met. It was much needed with my two kids. He was very good with the kids and got them both to stand up on the boards by the end of the lesson. Plus during the whole time he made it fun for them and myself. I never write reviews on these sites, but I feel it necessary to give ANTON and the school a shout out.

We had great time with my girlfriend. Adam was amazing teacher! It would be great if the lessons were longer. For example four hours. There would more time to fix own mistakes.

My fiancé and I took surfing lessons at Pacific Surf School and lucked out with getting paired with Eric as our instructor. He was awesome! I appreciated how patient he was with me and he was so positive and encouraging. I was a little nervous prior to our lesson and he made us feel really safe out on the water (although I did drink my fair share of saltwater!) Very knowledgeable and made our experience worthwhile. I would HIGHLY recommend lessons and would request Eric again.

Best San Diego surf school
just came here to get the information on this business to recommend it to someone and realized I never reviewed our experience here.
As a military family we are lucky enough to have lived here for almost 3 years and we've tried really hard to experience as much as San Diego has to offer. This school was the best of all possible worlds- some physical challenge, beautiful scenery, and a fascinating history lesson.
As many others have mentioned, Ryan gives a phenomenal overview of all pop up ways to surfing. His passion about sharing his knowledge is evident and he was very good at reading the groups' interest and abilities. I feel like I learned more during this two hours than some people learn during years of living here. Most importantly Ryan helps non-Natives appreciate the deep meaning of surfing in San Diego
I have recommended this surf school many times and would love to do it again before we leave!response / report this review -

Erik was our instructor! Super friendly and made us feel very relaxed yet gave very good and clear instructions. Never been on a board before but he managed to get me up there! It was so much fun! Me and my boyfriend highly recommend it!

LOVED IT! Anton was our group instructor. He did a great job of instruction. He could see any errors I was making and give the instruction of how to correct them. He was understanding, yet direct. He was also very encouraging when I did things right! A true coach! This was the highlight of my trip to San Diego - surfing! I had never surfed until this trip but had wanted to for a long time. Thanks Anton for helping make my dream come true! I plan on practicing again in the future.
