Today, I simply needed a single 8x10 print from a digital file onto a textured, matte paper. I was informed by an older gentleman (? the owner) that it would require 6 hours to complete. I approved the paper, paid the bill in cash, then left. Returning 6 hours later, only a young woman (employee) was there. She handed me an envelope, without first showing me the print.

I opened the envelope. The print was not on textured, matte paper. The employee appeared confused when I pointed out the error in this simple print job that took 6 hours. With no apology, she stated that it could be re-done by tomorrow afternoon, but that the cost of the matte paper would be more than what I had already paid.

I rejected the faulty print, and politely requested a refund. The employee kept me standing at the counter, while she phoned the owner about how to do a refund.

No need for the owner to respond to this review with "policies" about employee apologies. My order was not at all complicated. The service for this simple, fundamental task of a photo shop was overpriced, stunningly slow, and performed incorrectly--and with no apparent regret.

I really do not like writing negative reviews, but I failed to heed those already posted here.

I've had prints and enlargements processed at this store with great results. They were able to enlarge some very old photos of my dad, which i gave him for Christmas--he was delighted! A go-to place for advice on photo equipment, etc. Highly recommend!

Horrible service. The owner only comes in for an hour a day, according to the staff. Ruined a roll of film and only left a note saying not to charge me. No apology or replacement. The staff aren't trained to do anything and it shows, they're confused. Just don't go here, they'll over charge you and ruin your film.

I could tell by the way they answered the phone by "hello" that they weren't a good business. If you need anything done in photos go to "John's Camera Corner" in Blacksburg. Service is 10X better then this

PFS Photo is the last real photo shop in the area. They still process conventional (non-digital) film and are very knowledgable about the new digital gear that they carry. I'm grateful they've been able to stay in business, these are difficult times for independent photo shops - in many parts of the country a person like me who still uses a film camera would have to do everything through the mail, which takes forever and the quality control with mail service is poor. Their digital prints are excellent and the couple times I had a problem with the color they were glad to redo it. Recommended.
