Super cool watching these guys make some cool glass! We were basically the only people here and they still took the time to make a piece for us Demonstration only. You can purchase the pieces in the gift shop. Plan ahead and you can make your own items it takes a couple of days to get it done but worth the effort for sure! Everyone working here is super nice and we all watched the solar eclipse together and shared glasses and took pictures!

We had a great time learning about making glass art here in the Hot Shop. They gave a very informative presentation, showing how to make 3 different pieces (a paperweight, an ornament and a flower) and then one at a time, you can choose which you would like to make. The artists are very patient and give each person a very personal experience and they do not rush you at all. There are many colors to choose from when making your piece and there are lot of examples for inspiration.
When you are all finished, your pieces need to be placed in a kiln for a while, so you can't take your art home the same day, you will have to plan to come back to pick it up. I am not sure if they ship, but I am sure they would be more than happy to let you know if you give them a quick phone call.
I would definitely suggest trying this place out if you have some time and you are interested in the art of glass blowing. The group classes are currently Monday - Friday at 9am. Space is limited. They like to keep the classes small so everyone gets plenty of time and a bit of one on one.
I am definitely going to come back here and do the glass blowing again.response / report this review -

Fun rainy day activity while we visited Orange Beach. My daughter loved the pick and paint, which turned into a unique souvenir. The Hot Shop glass blowing demo was amazing!

An absolutely fabulous place to spend an afternoon. The Hot Shop here has two glass artists and a gentleman who explains to you what they are doing while they work. They are fun and friendly, and the work is beautiful! They even made a special piece for us when we couldn't find the color that we were looking for in the available merchandise. We are less familiar with the Clay studio, because we always end up spending all our time watching the glass being made!

The glass blowing class was a great experience. You get up close and hands on with excellent and friendly instructors. They give you a choice of three difference glass peices to make and a large selection of colors to chose from. Definitely recommend this as a fun family activity!
